The Albanian Airforce was reestablished in 1947 after its dissolution in 1939 due to the Italian invasion under the name Albanian People‘s Army Air Force existing till 1991.
As an Warsaw Pact member during the early 50s, it was supplied with loads of MiG-15, MiG-17 & MiG-19, Iljushin-28, Yak-3 and a couple outdated Po-2s.
From the mid-50s, relations between Albania & Soviet Union worsened due to Khrushev denouncing Stalins reign, which Albania did not approve, so that it decided to partner up with China given their similar stance, replacing its Soviet MiGs & Iljushins with Chinese knockoffs like the Chengdu J-7, Shenyang J-5, J-6, Harbin H-5.
