Sup guys.
I’m looking to tailsman a Swedish Tier 7 jet. As far as I look, they all compromise on one area or another.
I have studied a bit about these planes.
AJS37 - Despite being a attacker I don’t think it can destroy a base, and the most “optimal” loadout seems to be 2x Aim-9P, 2x Aim-9L, two CM pods and no guns. This is the most compromising plane in game…probably. Has a TWS mode for some unknown reason.
JA37C - 2x Aim-7E-2 DF, 4x Aim-9P, with a all aspect PD radar for some reason. I guess it’s a F-4E sidegrade? I wanna know how good the radar is, and if it is a gimmick
MiG-21BIS - A platform I have spent tons of time on. You must know by now, what I put on the inner pylons, but this Finnish version does not feature the “forbidden equipment”, so between R-60M and R-13M1 (Bruh, that is like, gold vs cheap pig iron) I guess I’ll go with R-13M1…How are they? What is the closest Aim-9 they are comparable to?

The JA37C + Expert crew so you dont knock out the pilot sooner when turning.

I’m aware of the fact. How good is it’s radar?
I like it. It has TWS, never have issues with it, and contrary to the ASJ37 also has HUD symbology (well, that’s not that relevant in RB, admittedly…).
In Sim I use the radar only very intermittedly, and prefer a sneaky playstyle to get in position for the rea-aspect only R24J’s, not sure if such tactic would work well in RB too…
Well best is anyways to fly a few matches in all of them, then decide, which one you find most rewarding, then talisman that one.

Id personally go with Bis, being already familiar with the platform helps alot. R-13M1s are like AIM-9Js but have much faster acceleration, in rear aspect from sub 1.5km they rarely miss in my experience. Combining them with 2x R-60MKs racks give you amazing kill potential but you have to switch between the two missiles.
Dont get caught in the furball, jump lone planes and shank them for lunch money.

Imo better loadout is 3 RB74L and 1 cm pod with 2 RB24J, imo i don’t care for it in ARB,
The JA37C is pretty good but its a onetrick pony with its radar.
Imo the Mig 21 is great but it can be a learning curve, i recommend 2 belly mounted R13M1 and the 4 R60MK.
Imo id say try to fly them each and see how you play but my basic opinion is the JA37C is very solid.

Hmm. That’s certainly a interesting loadout. But seems…forced? Even compared to F-111F with 6x 9Ls.
Also
What do you meant by one trick pony? I’m familiar with the F-4E and F-4EJ, and expect the plane to perform somewhat similar based on its weaponry.
How good is the radar that it defines the plane?
How it compares to PL5B? I know that’s like the highest bar you can find for rear aspects but still.
Ahh. I see…sneaky playstyle.
Not a big fan tbh. I prefer something that can dogfight + frontal attack SARH being a big plus (but not necessary).
How does the ajs37 or ja37c handle compared to mig 21?
As of right now for Air Realistic
The Ja37C is really good as the IR missiles are okay, the radar missiles are the best at 11.3 with possibly the best radar of that br too, wouldnt dogfight much more than a phantom though
Mig 21 Bis is more of a dogfighter than the Viggen due to the fact its not 500 metric tons
Decent All aspect AAMs, alright gun but possibly takes a fair amount more skill than the JA37C right now
AJS Imo just avoid, its not very fun in either ARB or GRB due to the extremely limited options for secondaries and their placements (such as the gun being wing mounted)

AJS has a worse engine and worse dogfight performance, radar missiles are the easiest ways to get kills at that br and bc of the utterly awful secondaries of the AJS, its just not worth it
If you want a decent dogfighter with all aspect missiles use the Mig 21
If you want a more BVR and boom and zoom, go Ja37

Well obviously its worse than PL5B but its better than AIM-9J.
Morseo it will not be your main missile, these will be R-60MKs.
21bis now also enjoys some favorable matchmaking when compared to year and something ago.

JA37C IMO. Its absolutely amazing, and if you play your cards right you can get 2 guranteed kills per game because of the radar missile + pd radar combo at 11.3. I talismanned mine and grinded all of rank 8 w/ it.

Well, it’s a big and heavy bus, and while moderately agile (for its size), looses energy massively when turning. IIRC you can easily half your speed starting at 900, 1000 just by doing a hard 180° turn.
I try to avoid any prolonged dogfights, that’s one of the reasons why I select a sneaky playstyle to prevent getting into a dogfight. Most losses I’ve suffered were against e.g. Floggers that dragged me into a dogfight if I didn’t manage to dispatch them early on in the engagement.

Oh i have a ton of presets for messing around so ignore the all missile one lol.
As for one trick pony, the JA37C only has 2 radar missiles and then 4 IR aim 9P3, compared to the 12.0 phantoms the Viggen is pretty meh. In on tier and downtier the Viggen is good but it really lacks the performance for ARB. Id suggest SIM for it if you want to dogfight and bot get attacked by 3 other jets. The JA37C is only special because of its PD Radar at 11.3 with 2 skyflash, if you miss your shots well good luck.

Thanks guys. I have decided to tailsman the Mig-21BIS as a “good enough” vehicle; I desired the JA37c, but I’ve ran out of GE and time for grinding the JA37C while the discount is still on (I think).
To me it’s like a M48 or Sherman in tank trees; a Toyota that’s good at everything and reliable. Too much “fun” or “exoticness” is not good for me, especially as a reliable daily grinder I have to rely on.
