Haven’t seen anything about it, and it wouldn’t make sense to tune the seeker to just one aircraft. Even if its primary target is the Foxbat, the USAF would still find it useful against other aircraft like AWACS.

Well, if the new German WW2 missile gets a proximity fuse on anything other than a B-17, I don’t see why this would be different

ok let’s say the X-4 emits red light, when the red light gets intense enough then it knows to blow up, that’s how it works. however the AIM-97 by appearance works off of it’s looking for red light to lock onto, the MiG-25 emits red light from its’ radar, ANYTHING ELSE is emitting different coloured light, so it can’t lock on

Don’t know about R-27R, but R-27ER is already massively overperforming by having datalink when it should have none at all

im talking about the R27P/EP… the passive radar guided missiles, also it did had DL but like on the aim 7P it shouldnt have the ability to reconnect.

Wrong wording, it might have had datalink, but it didn’t have the ability to reconnect to a target after losing lock

I think it’s more fun to keep this in the game for player frustration and fun

The thing about the MIG-25 is that it’s radar operates in the I and J band (10 to 15 GHz), while the vanilla AGM-78D Operates from E to I band (2 to 10 GHz), so at most they would have to tweak the digital, programmable seeker to also search the 15 GHz band, perhaps with a few dedicated circuits to increase it’s sensitivity in that specific band. But that wouldn’t mean the aim-97 seekbat would only go after the mig-25, that just means it would be able to go after any aircraft radar emitting in those frequencies - the seeker is essentially a very sensitive and very precise radar warning receiver. The bigger problem historically was filtering out certain signature prfs to make sure it won’t go after the radar of a friendly aircraft, like in the incident where an AGM-88 HARM accidently locked on the tail gun radar of an B-52G during the gulf war and nearly ripped it’s tail off.
