Doesn’t it currently? You can launch beyond 70° with it, no? At least vertically in the case of USA radars, if they had AIM-120D on Eurofighters we could’ve tested this (good thing they’re not, though)
You can send 120D even behind yourself, courtesy of radar memory mode. And +100 elevation on Superhorny radar, though its bit of a bother to make it work.
Another one labled as not a bug for 120D HOBS. This one did provide good sources :(

So were is the enhanced datalink?
The AIM-120D should get the HOBS improvements no matter what they are. Official U.S. Air Force docs state that the AIM-120D variant has improved high off boresight capabilities over the prior C-7. Now, some unofficial sources state HOBS improvements from the C-5 over the previous iterations, but again, they’re not official.
Right now, the 120D is the same as the C-5, but worse. No additional range, nor thrust, nor maneuverability. Nothing. Well, battery time, which is useless cause the seeker is still the 1991 AIM-120A seeker btw
And it got, months ago. 360 launch.
Be careful what you wish for.
Yea, in my dreams. The microplastics in my balls told you, huh?
Well Well Well ofc its not Russian so we cant make it good because we all know that Russia is the superior country in everything
AIM-120D has removed gimbal limits for seeker so he is correct on that.
Nope. It’s the same
Me casually HOBSing 120DoAs not knowing its not possible because macroplastics in your balls should have told me so:
Even F-104 turns tighter than this garbage.
Literally the only thing they need to do to make the AIM-120D is to give it chaff resistance value similar to MICA. That’s it.
On top of it, that would make sense considering all the software improvement the AIM-120 went through until the D version.
We’re talking about a 1987 AIM-120A having exactly the same seeker and chaff rejection as a 2008 AIM-120D in War Thunder. It’s so damn stupid but Gaijin is not going to change it.
Peeps brought all kinds of materials stating missile has “improved HOBS”, but no one brought anything stating missile is more maneuverable or has improved motor thrust.
The same logic applies to R-77-1, missile that entered service in 2015 sharing seeker with 20 year old predecessor. Same with Derby and Derby ER.
So if anything, Gaijin is consistent there, for once.
Nice. Suppose the microplastics in my balls were right this time. Happens
I’d hazard a guess those plastic balls of yours should be a health concern, especially when they speak in copium.
Well, they’re in yours too. It seems that we have a similar issue
Yeah after testing it you seem to be right i did not test it in game before writing the comment and since the bug report did not mention it being added i thought you were wrong. My bad Still the missile can turn for shit lol so i don’t see it being that useful but its nice that its added
360 launch was present on the missile for few months as it was sitting menacingly in game files, its not exactly brand new addition.
Difference is, I’ve never claimed missile has improved maneuverability. It has this mythical “HOBS” and had it for quite some time via 360 launch capability, not flight model to match expectations of US mains and so far, there’s nothing public to address the latter.
