AIM-120C-5 vs Sparrow

So you tell me that i can’t use an AIM-54 at medium ranges? MICA and R-77 at 4 kms?
Your point doesn’t really stands there

to bad that those were designed to do well at close ranges as well, unlike the AMRAAM which was and is optimized for range, both the r-77 and MICA trade range for maouverability the MICA by using TVC and
the r-77 by using grid fins

i dont say you cant use it, but iam saying that you shouldnt expect great results when using something outside of its usecase

it is like complaining that a screwdriver cant hammer in a nail as well as a hammer and that a hammer is bad at screwing in screws

Be a man. Use the Phoenix as a dogfight missile.

They’ll never expect it. Much like the Spanish Inquisition.

In War Thunder, almost every FOX-3 launch is WVR, the biggest map its 130km x 130km and spawns are probably closer than 100km awar from each other, i we were in DCS you would be right

that is not wrong, but that shouldnt justify to just make stuff up

like i said if you try to use a hammer to screw in a scre you dont need to complain that a screw dirver would do it better

imma be honest, derby is a lot better than the C5 for warthunder purposes. Id rather have a better python 4 for dogfighting than a Aim120C5, and in warthunder most stuff is done WVR.

I know, i am 100% with you, the problem is Gaijin, that sells us “a better AIM-120”, but worse at every in game situation except the unusual 60km kill, and just by about 1 second faster at reaching the enemy

Oh, so the AMRAAM has more range than both of those? Can’t see this ingame, can you? especially when your seeker is seeking everything BUT enemy aircraft

Would a document like this that indicates targeting information is loaded onto the AIM-120A before it fires help?
[public release is listed on first page]
Search for AIM-120A and it discusses improving the F-16 datalink bandwidth because loading data to the AMRAAM would saturate the jet’s internal bandwidth network.

It’s hilarious to me that Gaijin add the 120C…And it is inferior to the 120A and B in some cases. Yet it is supposedly superior to in every metric. R-77 is a perfect example Russia decided the 77 is crap and upgraded it to the 77-1…In game it is an upgrade over 77 in every way…You dont have to mix and match load outs because the missile is the upgrade it should be.

SLAMRAM is the same, the 120s are near useless. If it didnt have the 9Xs it wouldn’t be playable.

Gaijin think the 120C is just slightly more thrust and shorter fins. No wonder they happily farmed it out to NATO jets knowing it makes no difference in gameplay at all.

pretty good TL:DR for the summer update
