Hi, im a little new to the BVR meta so I’m just wondering how many clicks my average launch should be on, have been trying to launch within 45km but haven’t gotten many hits yet, but still seem to be launched on before that range. Just looking for some pointers.
In this post I do a break down of how to read the radar and its ability to give you launch parametres dynamically
as it is very subject to what you are doing and what the enemy aricraft is doing.
but unless you are doing Mach 1.5+ at like 20k ft, Id rarely fire over 20-25km
It also really depends on the enemies experience. You could fire all 4 AMRAAM perfectly and not get a hit bc they know how to notch.
bvr and meta in the same sentence. anyways how i get kills is get a sustained mach 1.05 climb upto 35,000 ft / 10km. then from there gain speed wait till the enemy is with 30 miles / 45km? point your nose up to 45 degrees and launch. the manual lofting helps the missile build and maintain energy
the aim-120C-5 is a garbage missile that never hits. If you want to do BVR then you need to get either the F-14A with the Fakour 90 missiles or anything that shoot the R-77-1. Gaijin refuses to fix the Aim 120’s in the game. The C-5 variant has never been good since it was introduced in the game. It doesn’t matter if you are 5 miles or 25 miles or whether they are coming or going. They don’t hit crap. The Aim-120A is the best amraam in the game. I don’t expect anything new or good to come from the Aim-120D either. I’m currently trying to spade the Typhoon AESA and it’s painful as well. It’s hard to have fun when your missiles don’t hit anything. And I know the typical comment is “oh it’s a skill issue”…Then it’s a skill issue for A WHOLE BUNCH OF PLAYERS then…Just my opinion.
Hadn’t been made aware it wasn’t,
Yeah they seem to be rather inconsistent sometimes, but they’re not useless, and I quite frankly can’t tell a difference between it and the 120B that’s available on the EF2K other than range and overall cruise speed
