Send that bug report please. Did not expect that out of all the sources Gaijin accepts.
It does, indeed. It was one of the features upon which Hughes got the contract.
Likely not going anywhere, but that’s just assumption-
look at the date on paper and look at when aim-120b and c came. theyre talking about a smokeless motor even before those missiles were introduced
yeah, its accepted but often they dont care and ignore things for balance reasons. maybe frustrating but i feel like i dont want to deal with the bullshit of smokeless amraams even though i support the bug report lol
All AMRAAMs are smokeless/reduced smoke genius
They aren’t all smokeless genius
i sent you another source. read it. end of debate.
Ok
Based upon the few sources I’ve seen. I’d draw the conclusion that Aim-120s entered service with a reduced smoke motor and the motor didn’t change until late 120C variants.
Where I would assume that was maintained if possible. I am not aware of any change in motor between the A or B variant
the +5 motor basically added 5 inches more of the same propellant
I was about to say practically the exact same thing. Seems A-C~6 were “reduced smoke” and was further improved with the C7.
That would certainly result Im the extra range 🤣
yeah it was a very high tech upgrade
I mean I really don’t know why people care so much about this, since AMRAAM when spammed from altitude will be spotted by both RWR and ideally the massive smoke behind the plane engine, but sure, plenty of sources provided, although given it is a ‘reduced smoke’ motor, how much is ‘reduced’? Could vary a lot.
Even prototypes does have smokeless motor
yeah. They ain’t doin nothing with that report about the AIM-120
Most of these modern Fox-3s are smokeless, Derby is a prime example of that since it uses an improved python 4 motor, which is indeed smokeless.
The reason they aren’t in game however is due to the implications to game balance, especially in SIM, not being able to follow the distinct white trail of a fox-3 to assist your notch is a huge detriment to gameplay and would only make missiles like the MICA and Derby harder to dodge since you will be relying entirely on RWR if it’s launched within pitbull range.
I expect to see them converted to LS motors in the future as missiles with larger NEZ and higher pull arrive, but I am a part of the camp that wishes to see Fox-3s remain visible and dodgeable.
I don’t know which variant it is but… do I see smoke? Or is it condensation?
Even the AIM-9M leaves white trail
Reduced smoke motors are referrred to as Smokeless due to their modelling in WT, however you would be correct, in certain weather conditions and altitudes most if not all Reduced Smoke motors give off a trail due to atmospheric conditions and rocket science
