Or… they can just swap this one for the variant that did carry amraams? Keeping an F-16 with amraams is still the more logical approach bc again, AJ is one of the worst 12.7s and I don’t think Japan needs a 2nd AJ.
At 13.7 we already have F-15JM and F-2A. There’s no need for an F-16 with AIM120s.
Actually very similar to F-14D because USA already has more than enough AIM120 slingers for every BR they’re at, and would certainly give it worse matchmaking
There are few version of AWG-9s but, only differences that refer to gameplay is radar mode. A new radar mode called PAL (short for Pilot Automatic Lock-on) was added to later versions of the AWG-9.
Although it operates in pulse mode, it is essentially a superior ACM mode. It scans using an 8-bar pattern covering a range of ±20 degrees left and right (40 degrees total) and locks onto the first target detected by the radar during the scan.
The detection range extends up to a maximum of 15nm (28 km).
Then, change the OCU to an MLU that has ADF kit and make it 13.3? Planes with restricted loadouts to suit a certain BR already exists anyways. Just look at the F-2A ADTW.
Already have MiG-29N at 13.3. OCU would make for a great multirole at 13.0. Or maybe even 12.7, that’s where the Belgian F-16A with 6x 9M is.
MLU can be added as a different plane altogether.
That’s an interesting comparison actually. Belgian F-16A is 12.7. OCU is 13.7 just by adding AIM120. F-14D is 13.0 and definitely better than an F-4F ICE if it did have AIM120. It would be 13.3 minimum if not also 13.7.
So as the APG-68 on F-16XL.
One of the weakest 13.3s, due to its weak radar and rwr.
You do realize theirs gonna be two F14D at 13.0(plus the f14B) so one of them can definitely go up br making it like the f2A/f2A adtw
Oh okay thanks for lmk
