- Yes to crews trained on same vehicles
- Yes for expert crews on same vehicle
- Yes only for RP
- No. Its fine as it is.
Premise
Currently, crews are a very old mechanic that has not been updated since the game has came out, and as such, a lot of crew balancing decisions have not kept up with the progress of the game. Most crucially, it is the progress of training your crew that has fallen very far behind.
The Issue
With how crew training currently works (100 rp = 1 crew exp on the vehicle used), it gets incredibly tough to gain additional crews to be max level across all 3 types of gameplay (ground, air, naval). While it matters less for air as you only take one vehicle in at a time (at least for ARB, while you still can do line ups for AAB), both ground and naval get punished heavily for taking untrained crews in as you have much lower responsiveness, and vehicle performance that is artificially nerfed due to crew abilities. When combined with a stock vehicle, you can see approximately 40 to 50% worse (don’t quote me on this. I haven’t done the math for the exact stats and its probably an exaggeration of the actual numbers) performance in some performance metrics like turret traverse.
Proposed Solution
My idea for updating the crew training system is the for crew exp/rp sharing from an aced crew. What this tries to address is the repetitive nature of training crews, as the grind for just one crew is long enough, repeating it again for however many crews, for however many vehicles, has grown to be an unsustainable and unreachable time sink which only has the remedy of buying your way through using GE.
How it Works
As mentioned earlier as rp/exp sharing from aced crews, you will need to have a crew be aced on a vehicle, HOWEVER, this doesn’t mean they will unilaterally give exp/rp to all other crews that are in the line up, but rather they will give exp/rp to crews that are also trained on the same vehicle.
Alternatively, this could be restricted to RP only, so that you can grind up more aced crews and grind your crew exp the normal method, or personally, i would like the system to only start sharing the exp/rp when the other crews are at least expert trained on the same vehicle as the aced crew.
So in summary, there’s 3 ways of how this can work, with each step more restrictive than prior:
-
Trained on same vehicle: All crews that are trained on the same vehicle as the Aced crew, and have been in the match will receive a exp/rp bonus equal to a percentage of what the Aced crew has earned.
-
Expert Trained on same vehicle: Adds a condition where instead of only being trained, the crew also needs to be expert qualifications to receive the bonus exp/rp.
-
RP sharing only: Only RP will get passed. This is really only when you want to bring more crews to reach ace qualification, and won’t provide any benefit to reaching higher crew levels like the previous two. As such, it also requires a crew to have expert qualifications to receive this bonus.
