i think the arguments for the 2s38 remaining at 10.3 would be more valid if they weren’t contradicted by almost every other ifv. It has 30% more pen than the Strv 9040c, 140% more than the desert warrior, 120% more than the m3a3, and 90% more than the puma. Yes, it has -5, but across almost all ifvs across all BRs pen trumps disadvantages. You have things like the BMP-2MD at 8.7 with 82 pen and -4 or the VBCI with 92 pen and -7 at 9.3. Even the strv9040c only has -8 at the same 10.3.

You can question if its OP or not, but the logic applied to other ifvs doesn’t fit with the 2s38.

You are comparing 57 mm APFSDS to 25/30/40 mm once… what did you expect? To have the same pen??? In what univerce that make sence?

If I cared about survival and stopped trying to get nukes with my 2S38, I could drop its APFSDS count to like 10 and still have more than enough ammo for a high KDR.

Sounds like you’d just barely be able to keep afloat with only 10 APFSDS rounds 😅

And KDR is not as useful of a metric than KPS.

Shot 2 was me thinking the enemy was going to roll forward, and shot 5 was me thinking I was being aimed at.
3 of those are frags, 4 non-skill issue shots fired.

Ok, let’s say you have pretty good aim.
So you would’ve missed / had to shoot tracks / barrell / engine only 1/2 per tank and it takes 1-4 shots to actually kill them.
26/(1.5+2) = ~7.4 kills per spawn without rearming if you only take full APFSDS.

Now for that 21 rounds for the Leopards that you take:
Maybe missing half the time and only having to shoot for tracks/barrels half the time too.
And then most shots are either one-shot or two-shot kill, maybe one-shot most of the time.
21/(0.5+0.5+1.25) = ~9.3 kills per spawn without rearming if you only take APFSDS.

I challenge you to get ~9 kills with the HSTV-L relatively consistently with only 21 rounds, or a ‘high’ KPS with the 2S38 with only 10 rounds.

Like everyone else does because thats what the ENTIRE game has been balanced on… Are you seriously trying to straw man argument that i don’t understand higher caliber usually equals higher pen? You have to completely ignore the rest of this game for that to be relevant.

Then explain how the Jap with TKX and Type 10 being put at 12.7
How are British top MBT are at 12.7
How are the Ariete at 12.7

Holy copium , not to mention some premium are undertier and completely dominate the br bracket they are in , the J-7D still at 10.7.

This is not how it works, sorry. BR dosn’t revolve only around caliber of the main gun or the penetration of the shell…

Can’t say anything about VT-5 since I don’t have it yet, the MBT2000 is probably one of the best ru style vehicles I’ve ever played, quick as f going forward and reverse, and still somehow retains the -6 degree gun depression to sit back and snipe, the reverse speed alone allows it to dodge spike for like 90% of the time. This thing is definitely much better than the T-72B3.

I think T-72B3 should also be 11.3, like the MBT-2000.

The T-72B3 has similar acceleration as the MBT-2000, though doesn’t have the good reverse speed or top speed.

However, the T-72B3 has -5 degrees of gun depression (not as bad as the T-90A) as well as much better armour (UFP and Turret similar in protection as T-90A, and ERA packages on the sides and turret like for the T-80BVM), better FCS and much better gun handling than the MBT-2000.

I think this is a reasonable trade-off.

2S38 and T80UD are both undertiered and on purpose. They’re some of GJN’s best sellers. Especially since they moved up all the 11.3 that used to counter and uptier them. There are virtually no line ups for them to be uptiered into anymore left.

They aren’t under-BR’d when you compare them to all other 10.3s in the game.
Of course 10.3 should become 10.7.
