The BMC VURAN, outfitted with a 107 mm multiple rocket launcher, serves as a contemporary, wheeled, mobile fire support platform. Engineered as a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle, it merges adequate protection, rapid off-road mobility, and concentrated firepower. This platform would bring a distinctive modern Turkish vehicle into the game, thereby enriching the variety of support vehicles accessible in the mid-tier or low high-tier categories.
History & Background :
The BMC VURAN, meaning “Striker” in Turkish, was first unveiled at the IDEF 2015 defense exhibition as a new-generation Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle designed by BMC to meet the Turkish Armed Forces’ need for a modular, highly mobile, and well-protected platform. Serial production began in 2019, and the VURAN quickly saw operational service in challenging environments, including deployments in the Libyan Civil War and during Turkish operations in northeastern Syria.
Built on a versatile 4×4 chassis with independent suspension and a V-shaped armored hull, the VURAN has evolved into multiple mission variants, such as remote weapon station carriers, mortar carriers, air defense platforms, and command vehicles.
In May 2021, BMC introduced the Multiple Rocket Launcher System (MRLS) variant, integrating Roketsan’s 107 mm multiple barrel launcher onto the VURAN’s rear platform. This configuration, capable of delivering a 12-rocket salvo to ranges of around 11 km with high accuracy, was successfully test-fired under operational conditions. By merging proven MRAP survivability with mobile indirect firepower, the VURAN MRLS variant fulfills a tactical niche for rapid-response fire support in modern combat.
