Its really funny to die at 90%+ crew member in a battleship …
Without been ammoracked or not.
It is what life boats were made for.
And it’s a compromise between things always being unrepairable, vs ships themselves being immortal.
Crew deaths were the only way to destroy battleships, which was not fun, and inherently made playing battleships worse than playing destroyer BRs.
The crew death only battleships also meant their repair costs were far too high [and still are].
Can you explain me why some battleships are stronger than others at same BR?
With such mecanics, it shouldnt be there.
It’s such a shame to see the naval mode slowly being destroyed by good basic ideas but terribly bad implementation.

Wanting to simplify the crisis management system for new players is a good idea, but reducing the management options for experienced players is terribly bad. The individual management system is more complete and should remain available with a switch in the settings, for example. (Or else put the simplified system only in arcade mode and the current more complex one in realistic mode).

Wanting to simplify the ship hull destruction system may be a necessary idea to balance the game, but the fact that only 3 compartments destroyed so quickly by bombs or HE shells ABOVE the waterline sink the ship so quickly and without any means of defense is a terribly bad implementation. I think the compartment hit box should only apply to impacts slightly above and below the waterline, not the top of the hull or the ship’s deck. The number of compartments needed to sink a ship (for battleships) should also be increased to 4, as 3 is too low and represents 1/3 or less of the ship, because we are talking about a mechanic that sinks the ship unstoppably.

Adding bots in naval mode is currently a good idea, but their current integration is very bad because they are far too invasive and aggressive. They use all their weapons at the same time in a way that is superior to players, and because of this, they steal all your kills or destroy all your compartments in 1 minute when they target you. Their aggressiveness should be reduced and a critical damage system should be added, so that you don’t get your kill stolen after doing all the damage or the last critical damage to an enemy ship, as in aircraft mode.

Wanting to simplify the towing system by making the hooking system more automatic is a good idea, but making it only automatic is a very bad implementation because there are many situations where the system detects poorly or is not suitable and requires more controlled manual interaction. That’s why players should also have the option to use manual towing as before.
I think War Thunder should remain a more complete and realistic game offering more gameplay mechanics than its competitors, and I’m sorry to say this, but these latest changes are more reminiscent of mobile gaming.
2- The ship hull destruction system was not simplified, it made more complicated.
And it’s far more realistic to have this complicated system, while also ending the unkillable ships issue top BR naval had.
And Statshark clearly shows improvement since it was introduced.
Before, frags per spawn were 1 - 2.5, now they are 1 - 1.5 of the same ships, a far more balanced dataset from introducing a feature that is more realistic than previous features.
I don’t know what game you played pre-leviathans but BBs (with the exception of the Scharnhorst) liked to implode almost as much as they do post leviathans.
Scharnhorst post Leviathans usually implodes with any sort of shells toward the bow area.
No, the hull system has been simplified significantly. Pre-leviathans you had a good handle of how much durability specific armor plates had, now it’s just a specific section of the ship. Unrepairable breaches also existed, which have been removed completely.
I also think it’s stupid that ships like Iowa - which despite having more sections - also sink when only three sections are destroyed. Or Yamato when she had [15k+ tons of reserve buoyancy] in her design which should mean something.
I’m sorry, but the old compartment system was much more realistic.
With the old system, some breaches were irreparable depending on their size, and these breaches below the waterline would cause certain compartments to become completely flooded and irrecoverable, causing the ship to be lowered in the water depending on the volume of water in the flooded compartment.
With the new system, you can sink a ship with simple small bombs falling on the deck or small HE shells hitting the hull ABOVE the waterline, which will destroy the hit points of your compartments (even though the damage does not penetrate the armor), and after 3 compartments are destroyed, you will magically and inevitably sink with all your crew, your modules intact, and no breaches below the waterline.
I don’t think this is any more complex or realistic.
Even though I recognize that the old system made battleships harder to sink because they sat lower in the water depending on the flooding, that’s why I say this change is still necessary.
This thread looks to be mostly RB by the topics, but just giving my two cents. The most important issue for many players is Arcade aiming. Specifically, how people don’t actually need to aim anymore in Arcade. The new AB aiming system takes all skill away from aiming, and players can’t even see where their guns are pointing anymore.
I used to exclusively play Arcade mode in naval, particularly coastal ships due to the faster action, which is a viewpoint I’m sure many predominantly Air or Ground players share. Leading targets correctly while dodging enemy fire was a major part of the gameplay. Previous Arcade aiming was a great balance between difficulty and skill. Now, all the fun has been taken out, and you might as well do nothing at all. The vast majority of Naval AB players disagree with this change, but no matter how many players complain, Gaijin doesn’t care.
You know what some players will say : Look at stats, since this addition, there are more players.
But when you look at it, it downed nearly by 200k, and what bring them back was event and bigger ships
