2 Pilots 1 Plane

This would be great for customs

If it’s a Two-Seater then it’s often a trainer aircraft. If it isn’t and has 2 dedicated Pilots. 1 both do what you have said. It would be useful for making multi-piloted Bombers have a higher survivability to pilot sniping.

there are several Naval Tactical aircraft that are two seaters. Helo’s, the COD aircraft, FA 18 that is Growler. F-14

Most 2 seaters are trainers, but you are right and make a good point.

Wasn’t the point of F3D series having two pilots to have one using the radar in the nose to guide the sparrows to the target?

Also P-61 had a turret and I believe there were similar weird British WW2 planes with turrets on them where 2-player setup would be really cool.

Even shrage-musik could kind of make sense for 2-player cooperation with voip if one player was looking at the aim and the second one was piloting.

I think this could be implemented for a flight simulator. Ability to choose to play in co-op or alone.

What if the second person controlled secondary guns like the ai ones

I absolutely like this idea (also for bombers where a player can guida the plane and another can be a gunner), but it would be quite difficult to 1) implement 2) balance 3) being sure that you don’t play with suiciders/idiots.

No SP complications. Just make it such that a spectating squad member can request to “join crew” and the pilot can accept or deny such request.

That would be pretty fun actually. Especially in sim. Gunners in helicopters can guide weapons while the pilot avoids SPAA and fighters and copilots in planes can spot enemy players, help with navigation and use guided air to ground weapons. Aircraft with 2 seats would become way more effective.

I have an idea on how split rewards for this and how maybe both players can enjoy with little limits.

Idea:
Only 1 player needs to own the aircraft that both are flying in. The owner of the aircraft get 55-60% of the total reward for each objective or kill the crew get together.
The owner has to invite the other player to a squad to fly in the same plane, then the owner can go to the rear or stay in the front seat. Similar to how its done in DCS.

The RIO/WSO (this is now for when using weaponry on rank 6+ jets) would also now have control and viewing of things like radar if he is the only one that can control that IRL (like early F-14s or Phantoms, even Sea Vixen as it was one of the first to do this)

I think that solves most of the issue of multicrew in the game, at least for 2 seater higher tier jets and helicopters

I have to say this would be fun for things like bombers 1 player fly’s it the other handles the guns.

Interesting concept. Could also be helpful in later tiers too when some of the weapon suites and radar systems is operated by the other crew member. Particularly in RB but especially in SB.

Also means that the pilot has less tasks to do.

they should make it a requirement for sim and something you can do with your low tier buddy

It shouldn’t be mandatory for sim. Just an option for those who want to play coop.

What about having twin seat vehicles have a more useful AI instead of just “a co-pilot if your pilot dies”?

In my opinion this will be an amazing addon for air simulator battles and it can make 2 seater aircrafts more unique and fun, but for other gamemodes I dont see it helping, But as I said I think this will be a great mechanic to air simulator battles.

It will be very hard to balance and model it in other gamemodes without making the gamemode unplayable for standalone players, Sim is the only way it can work and work really good

Yeah but should not be mandatory.

Of course
