HISTORY
First of all, you are probably wondering what the difference between this Mk.IIIb compared to the others, well its simple, but not that simple. The Mk.IIIb is armed with the Kongsberg Protector RS4 remote controlled weapon station on top of the turret, this is usually armed with an 12.7mm M2 Browning or an smaller 7.62mm FN MAG Machinegun, and this specific version seen in the picture is armed with an 40x53mm AGL - Automatic Grenade Launcher instead of those, this is quite easy to identify as the muzzle brakes on this is quite characteristic, with the open ports as you see the light come trough in the image, the barrel is also much thicker and shorter in addition to the mechanism being bigger. This vehicle is an pre production one and has thus not recieved every modifications they settled for, as the vehicles was ordered in 2012, this is from ca 2013 and the vehicles were delivered in 2015 and onward.

In the 1980s, Hägglund and Bofors developed a new armored personnel carrier for the Swedish defense as a replacement for a number of other types then in use. This vehicle was designated CV9040 and is currently in active use in the Swedish Armed Forces (2005). when the Norwegian Armed Forces were to acquire new armored personnel carriers in the late 1980s, the CV9040 was one of the competitors.

After a number of modifications to meet the Norwegian requirements, the CV9030 emerged, and this vehicle was chosen by the Norwegian armed forces This wagon was chosen as the new assault wagon for the cavalry in 1993. the wagon was to partially replace NM 135 wagons in the cavalry’s assault formations, but mostly they were added to the existing ones for a long time. The first wagon came to Norway in 1993 and in 1996-97 we received 3 more, the remaining 100 wagons were delivered in 1998

Norway was the very first export customer of the Mk,1 variant, followed 4 years later by Finland and switserland who purchased the Mk. 2. Norway is the first nation to use rubber tracks on the Mk. III. rubber tracks gives better mobility, less vibrations and noise, making the environment better for the crew and increases acceleration as well as reduce the fuel usage. 144 Mk. III wagons were ordered in June 2012 and they were delivered from September 2015.

These wagons are referred to as CV90 Mkiiib. These have the third generation of electronic architecture, which then allows sharing of sensor data. This also provides support for integrated drones. The unmanned weapon station Protector RWS on top is the most visible change on the new and old upgraded ifv’s

IN GAME
This wouldn’t prerform any different than the other CV9030N Mk.IIIb Ifv’s, but with the 40x53mm automatic grenade launcher it has additional firepower, greater than the FN MAG and the M2 Browning. It has acess to various 40mm grenades, both an verison that can penetrate 50mm+ of RHA and another that can fire over 65mm of RHA armor, it might also have acess to the airburst ammunition. This gives the vehicle and additional advantage in close range combat, as these rounds are quite slow with an muzzle velocity of around 240 meters per second and with an max range of 2.2km it is not suitable for longer ranges. But for close range to be used together with the 30mm cannon for the best result, or to fight off smaller vehicles if your turret ring etc should be disabled. in other words it can be used in an wide variety of situations.
