Head Mouse for those without TrackIr/Oculus Rift/FreeTrack

I have a question. On facetracknoir I get 20-30fps. Will I get higher fps with this method?

To deal with the deadzone and other issues, you can try my detailed tutorial that i came up with yesterday. :)

Was that really worth necro'ing this post?

Was worth it for me, just tried it and it looks promising. I'm using the "hold to look" version. The only problem I have is the centre point gradually migrates until I can only effectively look one way. It's easily solved by opening a menu (so you can see the mouse cursor) and using your phisical mouse to bring it back to the centre of the screen while keeping your head straight.

Today I will try it in combat. Thanks for the guide!

I was going to make a post asking about padlock view in SB. But waw.. im glad i did a search.
First attempt with it and it's 100% better than the hat switch.

Second attempt, i had adjusted the default sensitivity, and disabled the low light boost setting.

Here is the video of my first attempt at using it.

Glad it helped... i could suggest the hatswitch button for leaning up-down, left-right and you are set ;).

And yes it is competitive, all my videos are done with it: https://www.youtube.com/user/lereniu

It's awesome! The hat switch to look in the general direction, then head mouse to scan about is indeed, a great way to use it

Limited cursor movement solved - settings > basic > aim sensitivity > about 35% for me to check my six without hat switch augmentation.

For centering I mapped a key to cockpit view.

However, I've found $2 iPhone app "mobile mouse" to be more consistent and immune to face lighting challenges.

My opinion is that TrackIR is just ridiculously expensive (250 dollars for 1 IR camera?), especially in East Europe. Oculus Rift is getting cheaper over time, but War Thunder does not port the engine for VR. My solution for sim is just mouse in left hand (wheel can be used as throttle) and joy in right... Little bit of practice and this is result:

Why would you use original TrackIR?

Just buy cheap camera and swap the filter.

You can buy cheap LED/infra hats/clips or even build one yourself. Cost is time and proper leds.

Even using your smartphone for looking around is an option - with free ppie software.
