Squadron naming - READ ME!

Does it cost money to make a squadron, or only to rename it? I'm thinking a little about making a landship/airship/(Uhh... Seaship?) squadron.

You have to pay about $14 (US) to create a Squadron. And, unfortunatly you have to pay the same to rename the squadron itself. You may change the motto, the stats such as informaiton to join, about the squadron, and similar, the abreveation tag, IE: from =YRGS= to [YRGS] or .YRGS. for free. But if you want to change it from say, =YRGS= to =PGSC=, or "Squadron 1" to "Squadron 2" you have to pay GE. While I don't agree with having to pay GE to change the name, I'm very sure its there for good reason. :yes:

Personally I'm with the idea that if they are given multiple chances they are xxxx out of luck and deserve to have their squadron disbanded. That said, on a PR stand point changing the squadron name to Squadron111191918818 instead of deleting the squadron entirely may be a better way to handle the situation.

I totally agree Voodeux, from a pr perspective it's pretty poor form. Instead of just sending a warning maybe a little more communication and arbitration. Maybe Gaijin did do this in which case a ban would be in order. After all, this was something that was paid for. Maybe setting up a system where the name is vetted by a mod before the squadron could go active could be looked at.

There was some squadron named R A P E not long ago. I hope they have disbanned it already. Coz their motto was something along the lines of "we like   r a p e   or   "r a p e boys".

I even had to edit it coz it gets asterisked on the forums.

Met those guys. Their behaviour in chat and in PM (they teased me after having **** the fighter spawn) is disgusting. That's a squadron I'd like to see banned and their players restricted to reserve planes for some weeks.

why people who create squadrons prefer special characters like "^" and "*" in the names,

is there any advantage in a listing to be prior to others, or better reading at some situations?!

Since your Objection is Subjective, (Such as no NAZI officials, but NKVD and KGB/CIA/OSS are permitted) then YES! 1 free Moderated change SHOULD be allowed. As many here have identified, the choice of selling the Naming License without any Moderator/Admin review means that You have signed a Contract for Consideration (Eagles) and thus are bound by International Finance and Commercial Law.

 

Personnally, I prefer Free Speech where people can CHOOSE whether or not to be offended. That's their Right. So is Others' Rights to NOT take offense or be extorted into Subjective Conventions. (Again, NKVD = OK. Nazi = not ok. Stalin and CATAH are ok, but 1488 and HITLR not treated similarly.)

Limit is 5 Characters. The ^^ or == or "wings" are simply to highlight that they are Sqdrn Tags and not part of the Proper Name of the Player.

-They give no Special Listings or other Benefit.

There is a NKVD but it is a training squadron.

Yes indeed - just seen the NKVD boys losing their team two games in a row by passive play, so I came here to see what "the rules" are:

• 1.2.9. Names connected with negative historical or political personalities, including those judged by international courts for crimes against humanity, members of currently existing terrorist organisations, or groups that generally arouse feelings of suffering or disgust by the majority of people, etc.

And there are quite a few player names and clan names of a similar nature using various names of the Soviet security organs and also Stalin. There are also ones which are sexual, and at least one which is a direct reference to a psychotropic drug.

 

I  do my duty and report them via the game interface under "Other" - then still see them turn up in battle weeks later at times. I have no faith in Gaijin to deal with this, and do I suggest there is some bias? Yes I do. I don't tend to see many clans or player names that break the rules in terms of the Nazis and Third Reich. It would be comforting to see a response from the moderator at the least perhaps?

Now there's a thing - having had the same nickname for years, I post here and 6 days later I get renamed... is it just a coincidence? 

 

EDIT - so I checked with an admin, and they said my file had no record of any changes to my nickname, which considering there have been three, including the one by Gaijin, I find a little concerning also. Added to my post above, I fear that "the rules" are only enforced when it suits.

Our squadron name was earlier FINSS which means Finnish Special Squadron. We had to change it because some lousy b*s*a*d reported it as inappropriate.

Now squadron name is FINSG which means Finnish Special Group.

Nowadays too many people are offended by nothing.
