Please fix War Thunder's broken damage model


Gaijin, it's time you fix this broken damage model once and for all.  Enough is enough with the "RNG" lottery where you hit tanks in a sweet spot and hope you don't get "Gaijined".  Give the community a damage model where you can expect to get consistent results for your hits.  I'm tired of situations where you hit a T34 directly in the side at 90 degrees with an M6, T14, PZIV etc with ammo that should easily pen only to be told it's a ricochet or non-pen and then get barely hit on an edge of of the turret in return and have the round do physics defying damage and kill the entire crew.  It's infuriating to be killed when you've spent the time getting great position on an opponent, make a great shot, only to get completely screwed by the game because "You weren't supposed to win this one".

 

I understand the focus is currently on the economy, but THIS, along with the never ending CASA Spam should be dealt with ASAP.

 

And before the usual fanbois roll out their genius "skill issue" response, because they seem incapable of formulating a coherent argument, there are literally hundreds of vids on Youtube from content creators who have been playing War Thunder for over 10 years and are VERY skilful players, which show time and time again just how abysmal and inconsistent the damage model is.  Whether by accident or by design, it's broken and not "fit for purpose".  If Gaijin are seriously interested in addressing the community's concerns and making War Thunder once again a game that people can enjoy, this needs to be sorted.

Well it take much more proofs than that,... 

 

I can understand frustration,... but there is literally nothing they can work on in your presentation,.... it is close to ranting.

 

For the "Hundreds of Vids" thingy,... most things blackenned in your post by me, is not always true,...

 

Sometimes it is server/client lag issue.

 

So you can see you aimed the sweet spot, but the ennemy on Server have moved about an inch, and your shell take the slopy corner incresing bounces chances from 10% to 67% in 3 milliseconds.

This is happening on a regular basis, and when I'm within 10 metres of the target, I should be able to expect that a round with 2 to 3 times the penetration required to go through the side of the enemy tank should do so.  Many of the Youtube videos I mention also feature shots doing little or no damage at close range when they would normally provide a kill.  Yes, the server/client lag issue can factor in, but this is much lessened at closer range.  You can dismiss the videos I mention if you like, but the number available that show endless examples of players getting robbed of fair hits shows that no matter what the cause, it should be addressed.  If you want proof, I could spam this thread with links to tons of videos that show the issue, but I'm sure that players that don't simply bury their heads in the sand and pretend the issue doesn't exist will be aware of or have seen many of the videos already.

 

Oh and mnistrzu, thanks for proving my point about the intellect of War Thunder fanbois.
