Using SAP to shoot cruisers should be better than AP. At long range(as you said, at 18km), the Italian navy will choose AP or HE, because the SAP/APHE can't penetrate the armor. Just watch on YT Smigol Time! - The Good Ending. But in this post, I just want to focus on naval. TL: DR GJ PLS FIX! Massive Framedrops. Spoiler This problem is plaguing naval for years now, especially with big ships. For no reason, the FPS drops from 120 fps down to 15 fps and even lower. No matter if I am playing on the lowest or max settings. I have the feeling the smoke is the problem, the fps drops the second someone is smoking. Interestingly this problem doesn't appear when I am flying in a plane in the same match. Smoke Spoiler Just remove it. Not only seems it to be the root of the fps drops, but it doesn't work correctly. Mostly teammates smoke, especially right in the spawn making it impossible for me to lock enemies or shoot them, while the enemy can happily hit me with their cannons. Even I've hit and destroyed many players through their own smoke. This happens in AB and RB. Also why the hell do my gunners suddenly forget the distance when I am aiming into smoke? I aim into smoke and my gunners aim up to max height? Getting hit behind cover Spoiler I don't know how the ballistic works in this game, but many times when I am behind cover licking my wounds after a firefight and the enemy can still hit me, even if the cover is higher than my ship. That doesn't make any sense. Getting hit by invisible enemies. Spoiler I see hundreds of shells flying towards me or hitting allies and I don't see the enemy. It is mostly when the enemy is behind cover. They can apparently see me or my teammates but I can't see them. Why? Losing the aiming point Spoiler For whatever reason, the second I lose the lock on an enemy, I have to calculate again. Sure at this point, I know where to shoot, but my gunners have to set the distance again, why? What is the fire control team doing? Do they throw everything away the second they lost contact? That makes no sense. On very rare occasions, I still have the aiming point when the enemy appears right again, after a second or so. Making this even more confusing and frustrating. Switching control of auxiliary calibre with a button Spoiler At some point, it was introduced that you can control your auxiliary weaponry with your main one. That is awesome! But they also work as an AA and when an enemy plane is coming I want to hand over the control to the AI so they can focus on the plane, while I keep fighting the enemy ships. It would be nice to have a button to take control and give it up whenever I want and not that I have to press ESC, go to control, disable/enable the option, save and get back into the game. Ramming in the spawn Spoiler This isn't a problem from the game in itself but it would be so freaking awesome if in the beginning the ships would be like ghosts and you can drive through them because some folks always turn right in the spawn and crash into you. Or just let us spawn without any speed, or both options would be awesome. Spawnkilled by Torpedos Spoiler Many ships have torpedos that can easily reach the enemy spawn and more than once I've spawned just to get killed by a random torpedo the second my spawn protection was gone. That makes absolutely no fun, especially since you can do ANYTHING to prevent it. Different tasks for blue water and coastal fleet Spoiler Many tasks for naval can't be done by the blue water fleet, like capturing multiple points, octopus, etc. You have to create new ones, especially for the blue water fleet. Camping in the spawn. Spoiler Players camping in the spawn is a huge problem in this game, especially in blue water, because your guns can easily shoot into the enemy spawn. So many players, especially the one with the biggest ships spawn, brake, turn and keep sitting there and shooting with their main guns. Not only are they not playing the freaking objective, but they are also putting their team at a disadvantage. Because the few brave souls trying to capture the points are getting slaughtered and used as bait, by the teammates sitting in the spawn. I would suggest that when you are in the spawn you get only 1% or at best 10% of the reward, be it SL or XP. Uptier = Dead Spoiler If you think up tier in ground or air battle is unfair, play naval. The second someone is 0.7 or even 1 br above you, don't even bother to shoot them, especially if you are at BR 5.0 and higher. You make barely any damage, if at all, you can't penetrate them and when they hit you many times it is a one hit. More than once I had matches with my Cleveland where I've shot over 1000 shells into a 7.0 Ship and I've made only 500 dmg. No matter if HE, SAP, or APCBC. In one match in particular, while I was using my USS Cleveland a Kongo was not even 4 km right in front of me, I was shooting at the cannons to destroy them, and my friend was shooting at the enemy cannons too so Kongo couldn't fire, but at some point, he managed to repair and blew me up with one hit. I mean sure, with nearly 70 KG of TNT and over 240 mm of pen at 5 km no wonder I blew up like a firework but I couldn't do anything. That isn't fun. Even I had matches where I was down-tiered and I steamrolled ALONE the enemy team. That makes no fun, for either side, well if you are not into seal clubbing how I use to call it. I mean we have already bot ships there, make them a bit smarter and use them if there aren't enough ships/players. The grind for modifications. Spoiler In high tier, especially on coastal fleet the XP requirements for the modifications are just ridiculous. Why the hell do I need 29.000 XP for the toolset on the german Köln? And another 16.000 XP for the FPE? Are you out of your mind? No for real? What is wrong with gaijin here? On the 7.0 USS Alaska you "only" need 11.000 XP for the toolset and 16.000 XP for the FPE. But the problem is, while the Alaska can take quite some punch, the top-tier coastal fleet can get easily one or two shots from the blue water fleet or even the coastal. So not only do you have to die your way to be able to repair and put out the fire, while there is freaking water all around you, but you suffer much longer. I had matches where I was dead in the water, burning for literal minutes. My team couldn't do anything to help me, nada. Extend the range of helping. Spoiler Speaking of helping, please extend the range where you can help to repair your friend, especially on blue water. We are driving huge ships that take ages to turn, accelerate or brake. 1 km should be the minimum and also give us the ability to put out the fire from a friendly ship, I mean if the tanks can do it, why can't I do it with my ship? Matchmaking Spoiler Please do something with your matchmaking because many times when I play I've more loses than wins and it's not my fault. Especially since it makes every other damage control so much longer. I've drowned or burned down because suddenly I am forced to repair my citadel, while my ship is being flooded from a torpedo hit. Damage control timers make no sense. Spoiler When your ship is burning, needs repair or water needs to be pumped out you have a timer. The more you have to do, it longer it takes, okay that makes sense since the crew has to do multiple things at once. But why the freaking hell do the timers jump up so massively? Especially if you hit another "fix" action. Your ship is burning, it's only one second away from being put out, I press repair or pump the water and suddenly the fire spikes up to 16 seconds or more. The same goes for pumping and repairing. What the hell? What is the damage control team doing? The ones being diverted to another task just throw a molotov? Or throw several buckets of water into the ship? No pumping with a hole in the hull. Spoiler When you are trying to get rid of water in your ship and someone shoots a new hole in your hull, your ship stops pumping and the hole needs to be fixed first. That makes no sense at all. I am talking a bit out of my **** now, but I know the bilge pump is automated. Sure first you have to fix the hole before you pump, but you can pump and fix the hole at the same time, especially when the pump is already running. Many times I am waiting for the water to be pumped out just to see action stopped because I get a new tiny hole and my crew needs to repair it. What are they doing? Stopping the pump before fixing the hull? Come on, I have no problem with more water flooding my ship, because my bilge pump not managing to pump faster than the ship is running full, but for piet's sake, if my ship is already pumping the water and I get a new hit, don't stop it! HUD Rework Spoiler The hud in WT was or is usable at best, but you notice it was never designed for ships. The x-ray cam. It was updated some time ago, and it got worse. A ton of rubberbanding, lag spikes, connection loss, etc. I just lost a 150% SL Booster to a crashing server. I don't know where the problem is, since these problems barely appear in ground or air battles. Destructable enviroment. Spoiler Many years ago a mechanic was introduced that you can destroy buildings. The mechanic needs a huge overhaul in general, but how the hell is it possible that on many maps not a single building gets destroyed when I shoot them with shells that weigh several hundred kilograms and have several kilograms of explosives? The mechanic needs a huge overhaul in general, but how the hell is it possible that on many maps not a single building gets destroyed when I shoot them with shells that weigh several hundred kilograms and have several kilograms of explosives? I mean you have the mechanic use it. I bet there is much more stuff that needs to be fixed asap and I know I am not the first one to come up with these complaints. But for freaking sake, please Gaijin, we have already barely any players in naval and if you keep ignoring this, you will lose even more players, while the mode is in itself a lot of fun. That document mentions that if SAP could pen the armor, The more TNT shells have, the more damage will have. Using SAP to shoot cruisers should be better than AP. At long range(as you said, at 18km), the Italian navy will choose AP or HE, because the SAP/APHE can't penetrate the armor. Hello everyone, that War Thunder is in dire need of a complete rework is no secret, from Planes, over Tanks to Naval. There are so many issues, that they have become freaking memes. Just watch on YT Smigol Time! - The Good Ending. But in this post, I just want to focus on naval. TL: DR GJ PLS FIX! Massive Framedrops. Spoiler This problem is plaguing naval for years now, especially with big ships. For no reason, the FPS drops from 120 fps down to 15 fps and even lower. No matter if I am playing on the lowest or max settings. I have the feeling the smoke is the problem, the fps drops the second someone is smoking. Interestingly this problem doesn't appear when I am flying in a plane in the same match. Smoke Spoiler Just remove it. Not only seems it to be the root of the fps drops, but it doesn't work correctly. Mostly teammates smoke, especially right in the spawn making it impossible for me to lock enemies or shoot them, while the enemy can happily hit me with their cannons. Even I've hit and destroyed many players through their own smoke. This happens in AB and RB. Also why the hell do my gunners suddenly forget the distance when I am aiming into smoke? I aim into smoke and my gunners aim up to max height? Getting hit behind cover Spoiler I don't know how the ballistic works in this game, but many times when I am behind cover licking my wounds after a firefight and the enemy can still hit me, even if the cover is higher than my ship. That doesn't make any sense. Getting hit by invisible enemies. Spoiler I see hundreds of shells flying towards me or hitting allies and I don't see the enemy. It is mostly when the enemy is behind cover. They can apparently see me or my teammates but I can't see them. Why? Losing the aiming point Spoiler For whatever reason, the second I lose the lock on an enemy, I have to calculate again. Sure at this point, I know where to shoot, but my gunners have to set the distance again, why? What is the fire control team doing? Do they throw everything away the second they lost contact? That makes no sense. On very rare occasions, I still have the aiming point when the enemy appears right again, after a second or so. Making this even more confusing and frustrating. Switching control of auxiliary calibre with a button Spoiler At some point, it was introduced that you can control your auxiliary weaponry with your main one. That is awesome! But they also work as an AA and when an enemy plane is coming I want to hand over the control to the AI so they can focus on the plane, while I keep fighting the enemy ships. It would be nice to have a button to take control and give it up whenever I want and not that I have to press ESC, go to control, disable/enable the option, save and get back into the game. Ramming in the spawn Spoiler This isn't a problem from the game in itself but it would be so freaking awesome if in the beginning the ships would be like ghosts and you can drive through them because some folks always turn right in the spawn and crash into you. Or just let us spawn without any speed, or both options would be awesome. Spawnkilled by Torpedos Spoiler Many ships have torpedos that can easily reach the enemy spawn and more than once I've spawned just to get killed by a random torpedo the second my spawn protection was gone. That makes absolutely no fun, especially since you can do ANYTHING to prevent it. Different tasks for blue water and coastal fleet Spoiler Many tasks for naval can't be done by the blue water fleet, like capturing multiple points, octopus, etc. You have to create new ones, especially for the blue water fleet. Camping in the spawn. Spoiler Players camping in the spawn is a huge problem in this game, especially in blue water, because your guns can easily shoot into the enemy spawn. So many players, especially the one with the biggest ships spawn, brake, turn and keep sitting there and shooting with their main guns. Not only are they not playing the freaking objective, but they are also putting their team at a disadvantage. Because the few brave souls trying to capture the points are getting slaughtered and used as bait, by the teammates sitting in the spawn. I would suggest that when you are in the spawn you get only 1% or at best 10% of the reward, be it SL or XP. Uptier = Dead Spoiler If you think up tier in ground or air battle is unfair, play naval. The second someone is 0.7 or even 1 br above you, don't even bother to shoot them, especially if you are at BR 5.0 and higher. You make barely any damage, if at all, you can't penetrate them and when they hit you many times it is a one hit. More than once I had matches with my Cleveland where I've shot over 1000 shells into a 7.0 Ship and I've made only 500 dmg. No matter if HE, SAP, or APCBC. In one match in particular, while I was using my USS Cleveland a Kongo was not even 4 km right in front of me, I was shooting at the cannons to destroy them, and my friend was shooting at the enemy cannons too so Kongo couldn't fire, but at some point, he managed to repair and blew me up with one hit. I mean sure, with nearly 70 KG of TNT and over 240 mm of pen at 5 km no wonder I blew up like a firework but I couldn't do anything. That isn't fun. Even I had matches where I was down-tiered and I steamrolled ALONE the enemy team. That makes no fun, for either side, well if you are not into seal clubbing how I use to call it. I mean we have already bot ships there, make them a bit smarter and use them if there aren't enough ships/players. The grind for modifications. Spoiler In high tier, especially on coastal fleet the XP requirements for the modifications are just ridiculous. Why the hell do I need 29.000 XP for the toolset on the german Köln? And another 16.000 XP for the FPE? Are you out of your mind? No for real? What is wrong with gaijin here? On the 7.0 USS Alaska you "only" need 11.000 XP for the toolset and 16.000 XP for the FPE. But the problem is, while the Alaska can take quite some punch, the top-tier coastal fleet can get easily one or two shots from the blue water fleet or even the coastal. So not only do you have to die your way to be able to repair and put out the fire, while there is freaking water all around you, but you suffer much longer. I had matches where I was dead in the water, burning for literal minutes. My team couldn't do anything to help me, nada. Extend the range of helping. Spoiler Speaking of helping, please extend the range where you can help to repair your friend, especially on blue water. We are driving huge ships that take ages to turn, accelerate or brake. 1 km should be the minimum and also give us the ability to put out the fire from a friendly ship, I mean if the tanks can do it, why can't I do it with my ship? Matchmaking Spoiler Please do something with your matchmaking because many times when I play I've more loses than wins and it's not my fault. Most of the time I am at least in the top five players and best squad but I keep losing and losing and losing. Just now in 10 matches, I have 2 wins and 8 losses, that isn't fair. But for gameplay reasons, I can accept the fact that I lose control over my ship when my bridge is hit. But why the hell do you force me to repair it? Especially since it makes every other damage control so much longer. I've drowned or burned down because suddenly I am forced to repair my citadel, while my ship is being flooded from a torpedo hit. Damage control timers make no sense. Spoiler When your ship is burning, needs repair or water needs to be pumped out you have a timer. The more you have to do, it longer it takes, okay that makes sense since the crew has to do multiple things at once. But why the freaking hell do the timers jump up so massively? Especially if you hit another "fix" action. Your ship is burning, it's only one second away from being put out, I press repair or pump the water and suddenly the fire spikes up to 16 seconds or more. The same goes for pumping and repairing. What the hell? What is the damage control team doing? The ones being diverted to another task just throw a molotov? Or throw several buckets of water into the ship? No pumping with a hole in the hull. Spoiler When you are trying to get rid of water in your ship and someone shoots a new hole in your hull, your ship stops pumping and the hole needs to be fixed first. That makes no sense at all. I am talking a bit out of my **** now, but I know the bilge pump is automated. Sure first you have to fix the hole before you pump, but you can pump and fix the hole at the same time, especially when the pump is already running. Many times I am waiting for the water to be pumped out just to see action stopped because I get a new tiny hole and my crew needs to repair it. What are they doing? Stopping the pump before fixing the hull? Come on, I have no problem with more water flooding my ship, because my bilge pump not managing to pump faster than the ship is running full, but for piet's sake, if my ship is already pumping the water and I get a new hit, don't stop it! HUD Rework Spoiler The hud in WT was or is usable at best, but you notice it was never designed for ships. The x-ray cam. It was updated some time ago, and it got worse. Sure first you have to fix the hole before you pump, but you can pump and fix the hole at the same time, especially when the pump is already running. Many times I am waiting for the water to be pumped out just to see action stopped because I get a new tiny hole and my crew needs to repair it. What are they doing? Stopping the pump before fixing the hull? Come on, I have no problem with more water flooding my ship, because my bilge pump not managing to pump faster than the ship is running full, but for piet's sake, if my ship is already pumping the water and I get a new hit, don't stop it! HUD Rework Reveal hidden contents The hud in WT was or is usable at best, but you notice it was never designed for ships. The x-ray cam. It was updated some time ago, and it got worse. The animations are extremely slow, you see several seconds of your shells doing some damage at or in the enemy ship. I am no expert but the shells are quite fast, and explosions and shrapnels are even faster, why does it take so long for me to show it? It doesn't do it in a ground battle. Also, the information given about what you have damaged is useless because you don't know who did the damage. Sometimes I shoot an enemy just to see several hundred crewmembers being knocked out and many modules being damaged. Did I do the damage? Was it my teammate? Did we do it combined? This works in ground matches but not in naval. I would honestly suggest looking at world of warships, where you can see if your shots have bounced, the damage, what kind of damage you've done and only your stuff. I wouldn't even mind if you copy it 1 to 1. Can't I follow my torpedos. Reveal hidden contents When you are in a plane you can watch your bombs and torpedos fall or swim, why can't I do it with my ship? We have a somewhat useless shell cam where we can follow the last shot when we hold the left mouse button, which also makes no sense because many ships can shoot much quicker than the time your shell needs to hit the target, but why can't I follow my torpedo? Like with the planes? I mean the system is already implemented? Why take it away from naval? Where it actually makes sense to see where you've missed? Give the ships their true equipment. Reveal hidden contents There is the premium USS Douglas and the top-tier Italian Saetta P-494, both have their rockets/missiles. That is great, but why are other ships missing their missiles? Like the german Ablatros and the Japanese Chikugo? The Servers Reveal hidden contents There is not a single play session where at least in one or two matches the servers are struggling. A ton of rubberbanding, lag spikes, connection loss, etc. I just lost a 150% SL Booster to a crashing server. I don't know where the problem is, since these problems barely appear in ground or air battles. Destructable enviroment. Reveal hidden contents Many years ago a mechanic was introduced that you can destroy buildings. The mechanic needs a huge overhaul in general, but how the hell is it possible that on many maps not a single building gets destroyed when I shoot them with shells that weigh several hundred kilograms and have several kilograms of explosives? I mean you have the mechanic use it. I bet there is much more stuff that needs to be fixed asap and I know I am not the first one to come up with these complaints. But for freaking sake, please Gaijin, we have already barely any players in naval and if you keep ignoring this, you will lose even more players, while the mode is in itself a lot of fun.
