Silver lion problem

True - but you can choose to NOT BUY THEM!  Thus not spending SL - and if you do buy them then DO NOT CREW THEM until you need them.

I have a bunch of unlocked planes - I only buy them when I need to, or when there's a 50% sale.

U sure i wont go completely bankrupt of SL?

I checked your playercard yesterday.. you're playing at lot RB, means I don't know what to say to help you, except play more AB :)

RB gives more RP and in most cases less SL than AB, you don't need to unlock new vehicles fast, you apparently lack SL. And take it slow.

Oh yes, you can! If you stop buying vehicles, you will not unlock the rank above. From then on, your research goes to decvice null as there are no more accessible research targets.

I never even considered this

Except for Israel I have too many vehicles to not research anything, but then I don't actually play Israel...

And after I verified I found I'd need to buy some vehicles to research rank 8 planes for Sweden, Italy and Japan, and rank 7 and 8 for China. Though at the rate I play these nations I might hit 1 billion SL before I actually have to buy anything there.

There may be different priorities, or one might even say "philosophies" here, as to whether the aim of the gaim is to advance and reach the top content quickly, or if it is to actually play the game for enjoyment.

I myself often think that many players focus allt oo much on getting to the top quickly, and then may face the situation that they are not well suited yet for that kind of environment, as they face off with players who have played the game for ages and have gained a lot of experience all through the ranks.

This is especially sobering probably for players "buying" themselves into higher tiers with packs. My son for example was playing regularly, and maybe at Tier 3, when he bought his first jet. So atthe beginning the learning curve was of course painfully steep - but he persisted and really has improved on it.

There's nothing wrong with playing the game this or the other way - play the game as you enjoy most, as this is the ultimate goal of playing a game, right?

SL-wise however, it's certainly very challenging to rush through, and I also usually have to worry that my SL keep sup with my unlocking of vehicles.

What's never to be underestimated is the power of discounts! There are quite a few practically fixed periods where vehicles are discounted, and I often try to save up on buying new vehicles- especially the expensive ones - when the discounts hit. I guess the next one should be the WW2-Victory sale which should be in April, I think...

I agree with Schindibee here, far too many rush to top tier and frankly, miss out on a lot of stuff in the game. But regardless of you motivations, there are still some good, solid strategies to earning a decent amount of SL's as you play. Take your time, spade vehicles as you go . . . this helps with researching as well because finishing each level of modifications grants you some bonus RP for whatever it is your have selected to research. Naval & air pay better in general  . .  if all you play is tanks, after a while the SL earnings dry up a good deal. But, playing what you enjoy is also key to keep everything from turning into "work". Play to win . .  every game you are in will earn you more SL's provided your team wins . . . play those objectives. Wagers, orders & boosters are good "extra income" . .  you can actually do a wager at 0 bet and if you fulfill the requirements, you still get paid! . .   that's pretty nice. Play in a Squad whenever you can, this also adds some Sl's most of the time, also can make winning a little easier as a Squad can influence a game's outcome more than you can do on your own. Except for Air RB, where you only get 1 spawn, try and make your line up's as close to the same BR as you can, this merely improves your overall odds regardless of the uptier/downtier thing many worry about. But also keep in mind that killing vehicles of higher BR's than yours pays better too. Uptiers are a "scoring opportunity". Play smart . . . it's easy to rush caps or get that "First Strike" if you want to, but staying alive is also a good thing and saves on repair costs. I personally have Auto Repair & Rearm turned on. I did this when I started playing and have never had any problems doing it, but . . . to each their own. If you are more comfortable having those things off, the go ahead. Watch & learn the things that you do well at, earn good SL's and . . . do that. Everyone has their "go to" vehicles/modes that they do better in . .  take note and use these when you need extra SL's

Good Luck out there
:salute:

This depends much on what you want to do. If you just need the planes for eligibility to next rank/vehicle, then yes, discounts are real.

But if you want to play a vehicle in spaded and expert condition, you actually face this (F-16 example)

Buy        1.120.000 SL

Crew         320.000 SL

Expert    1.120.000 SL

Mods         491.000 SL

--------------------------------

Sum        3.051000 SL

You can save 560.000SL, which is ~18%.

i banked 1 mil SL in my first week playing Naval, starting from very little.  I did run premium and I bought the yubari IJN light cruiser for 1750ge  I did play alot that week, but i also work 8-5.

I played the yubari a lot up to 5.3 br.  The good thing with naval, there aren't a ton of vehicles, so while earning rp you are saving the SL.

I see you have auto-repair turned off, that's excellent, it's just a useless drain on SL.

The next thing that jumps out at me is although you have a fair number of planes unlocked, none of them are spaded (max upgraded). Spading vehicles a good way to gain RP, as each completed row of modifications gives an RP bonus, plus every vehicle comes with ten free repairs; at lower tiers like this you'll often spade vehicles with free repairs to spare, which means in those remaining matches you won't be paying for either mods or repairs at all. I highly recommend using up all ten free repairs for all, or at least most of your unlocked vehicles.

And as has been mentioned, if you're at all interested in ships, Naval (especially RB) gives the best SL rewards of any mode (just as Air RB is the best for RP).

1916951515_WarThunderScreenshot2023_02.1Do i have to buy the qualification to ace for the vehicle to be spaded, i have all the modifications. Also how to i know if a vehicle is fully spaded

Buy expert qualification for SL, then you can play the vehicle to get ace qualification for free, just by playing the vehicle (which, depending on it's tier, might be a lot of playing, but that helps your crew skills in general) or with GE.

As an example , I like US air at BR 4.0, I played both the P47 D-25 and D-28 to ace on all my slots.

A vehicle is fully spaded once you bought all the modules for it, it'll show on the picture of the vehicle.

Crew points (and Expert/Ace-ing vehicles) is useful, but is a massive SL sink, and one of the easiest ways to throw away far more SL than you can earn early on. I made this mistake myself when starting out, constantly Experting most of my vehicles, and it didn't end well. For the moment, I'd recommend ignoring Expert/Ace status until you've built up a solid reserve of SL and have a steady flow coming in, which may be a while.

A "spaded" vehicle is community shorthand for having unlocked all its modifications, as once you do that, that circle-with-a-spade-in-it icon will appear on the vehicle's icon. You can see it on all three vehicles in your screenshot here, and premiums always have it because they come with all mods by default.

Agreed, though I’ve never invested in crew qualifications. It’s so expensive.

That is a mistake and a waste of SL - you should only Expert the crew of vehicles you are using - do not spend that money until you need to.

it is well worth the price - always.

Expert crew is totally worth it, if you had to chose between buying new vehicles or expert crews, I'd recommend the crew skill, greatly helps at performance and helps make more SL for your next vehicles...

This is easily said with 500.000.000SL in the bank.;)

I'd agree that experting at lower tiers does make sense to a certain degree. But if I were to do it again, I would plan it a little more than I did.

What one should do is this: Look at the cost of experting. For a few missions, check the income of this vehicle. Then find out how many missions you would stagnate SL-wise until the vehicle has earned the cost of it's expert.

If I expert a jet, I pay close to a million SL for expert. But I net earn maybe 10.000 SL with it. So it would take like 100 missions to make up for it. Do I plan to play 100 missions with it?

Also check first if expert matters. If you know your income will strongly depend on reload rates (choppers, bombers in arcade modes), then expert will matter. If you blackout the moment you pull any curve, then expert will likely matter. But with many vehicles, the effect isn't as pronounced.

Expert also matters if you have a talisman (not premium) on the vehicle and intend to grind a part of the tree with it. As this vehicle will generate a good RP-income and is likely played often. This hightened income only counts for ace once you expert the vehicle. So for a talisman vehicle, this is a very good reason to expert it.

With premiums, I'd be more choosy. Premiums are cheap to crew (max is 10000SL), so you can crew it on all crews easily. But experting premiums is way more expensive compared to regular vehicles. And worse, the amount of RP needed for ace is twice that of regular vehicles. So be very careful before you pay the SL to expert it.

If you haven't got a few million SL by teh time you get to medium level jets you have more problems than hte cost of "Expert" crew - you need to completely re-evaluate how you are playing this game!!

Oh, it isn't a question of having a few million SL by this time. The question is if you are willing to pay those few millions to expert one jet lineup.

I did mean those I actually play, I suppose that could have been clearer. Though only ships and tanks really, as while crew skills affect them immensely, they aren't nearly as needed for most aircraft (especially in RB).

i had a couple 300% boosters about to expire over the weekend, so i grabbed my 4.3 naval lineup with premium yubari, and while i am not a good player, i walked away with 425k SL for 2 naval rb matches - luck would have it we won both of those matches.  For the second one I thought i had activated it, and we lost the match only for me to realize I hadn't actually activated it, and once I had.. well we won the next one.

no idea, i have never played them.  I would choose a nation with a naval tree, as naval is the best place to earn SL at the moment.

US is good for earning SL with Naval, especially if you have premium and or buy one of the premiums (knox or moffet)
