Lets talk about the "New" Gepard 1A2

Its slower, very sluggish to steer, has less stingers, low penetration, no thermals, no irst lock, no NVD, no scouting, no VT fused shells, no proxy fused shells. Thats the total opposite of 2S38, LAV and other 9.7 SPAA vehicles. Its not really understandable why its left out with its high pen ammunition as sole SPAA vehicle among its competitors from other nations. Its has alot downsides, so it won't overperform.

 

We should talk about the radar as well. Its not possible to hit a plane or chopper when aiming for the green lead marker. The radar lock seems to be too inprecise/bugged. The lockbox is often next to the target, instead of locking the target itself. Its still not possible to lock low flying vehicles. Is this the new improved radar? Not working at all? While irl its proven to shot down even small, low flying cruise missiles and drones. With like 2 short bursts?

 

So main issues are:

 

- Useless radar, just for detection, lead is bugged. No lock of low flying aircraft possible.

- No top tier ammo.

- Empty Stinger box on the back. Means just 4 Stingers, no reload.

- No kind of NVD or thermal. I remember to read that the batch delivered to Qatar had thermal optics, was exclusively demanded by the sheiks. Cause no thermal makes no sense for post 2000's vehicles. Thats not the 80ties Gepard anymore (also see the Radar complaint, seems to be the same radar as the old Gepard).

- It appears very unmobile, is this really a Leopard 1 chassis?

+ bugged Stingers, when you take the K Stinger with you it still gives you the E...

Maybe because they cant even fix the Stinger bug on it...

Did yall notice that the tracking radar rotates on the wrong axis?

@Smin1080pcan you forward the directly? 

It's just the radar dish itself, the rest is placed working correctly and rotates 180° if the radar is turned off.

 

The report site doesn't really work in my experience, even correctly made reports have been sitting there for ages.

Ofc it has. You can read it. The ammo in programmed ar the end of the guns. Same as Puma. But GJ dosnt mind it, because its no russian tank...

 

Fck russian tanks still have bugs to their advantage. See BMP2M, can fire rokets while it drive or the IT-1 that doesnt explode like other tanks, when the rocket on the roof get destroyed

Just like the AHEAD of the Puma 

Sure, you could add it as HE-VT, but it would more be HE-TF with a Lead

It should get at least FAPDS. Then it would be more than a gepard with stingers stuck to it. It was the main ammo.

AHEAD doesn't work on the Gepard, it doesn't have the 3rd programming ring, how many times do we have to say this

Oh sure it can fire it, but the Gepard is missing the 3rd programming coil used to fuze AHEAD

Gepard's main issue is that most of the air threats are too far away to be shot. Most stuff is out of range and can't be locked. Helis and drones are spawned alot at this BR, commonly far more than jets....and you simply can't do anything to shot them down. Its only somwhat usefull vs. attacking jet strikers, everything else is usually out of range and stays out of range.

 

(Also please make radar locks more precise and remove this ground clutter effect).

Up to a month was generally what we had on the forum. As I said, its not always possible to uphold that on the CBR platform, so if something has been up longer than that, contact a mod.

Firing it as a dumb round and actualy using AHEAD like its supposed to be used are two different things.

 

Gepard's guns lack the programming coil, they cannot program AHEAD like Puma should be able to (hello Gaijin, where are the fixes to my sweet sweet Puma?).

Something like conditional proxy, where you need a FCS/optical lock and then it turns into proximity, since Gaijin doesn't want to model AHEAD correctly at all

This one is 7 months old with no response, and still happening.  (I found it after my M1A2 SEP took an ammo rack hit from a plane missile and while the only thing broken was the ammo cooking off and one the tracks... I just sat there and slowly burned to death for a long while.)

This guy is a Gepard commander, and he should know what the tank shoot and what not...
