Harrier GR.7 HUD - Should show velocity vector instead of aircraft centreline

# Game version

My game version: (

# Description

The centre symbol on the Harrier GR.7's HUD (the circle with lines coming out the top and each side) is currently tied the the aircraft's centreline, when it should be tied to the aircraft's velocity vector.

# Steps to reproduce the issue

  1. Test fly the Harrier GR.7

  2. Use the virtual cockpit to confirm that the HUD is showing the aircraft centreline rather than the aircraft's flight path.

# Additional Information

I think the A-7D HUD shows velocity vector, so this feature already exists in game and just needs implementing on the GR.7.

# Affected vehicles

  • Harrier GR.7

# Files

Here you can see the HUD is reading an elevation of 50°

By using the virtual cockpit we can see that the aircraft's nose is at 50° while the velocity vector is at ~45°. Therefore the HUD is tied the the centreline rather than the velocity vector.

Here is the page describing the velocity vector symbol. For the in game "standard" HUD mode the velocity vector should be caged to the HUD centreline showing only the vertical component of the flight path, while in the air-to-ground modes it should be uncaged showing the true flight path.

I should add that once this issue is fixed there is the potential for another issue to occur, so I thought I would pre-empt this.

At present the centre symbol on the HUD is fixed to the aircraft centreline, so can be used for aiming cannons in the various HUD modes. Once this issue is fixed the symbol will show the velocity vector of the aircraft, meaning it can no longer be used to aim guns.

To rectify this issue and allow guns to be aimed properly the gun cross will need to be added to the HUD (when gun pods are carried). This is a cross which is fixed to the gun boresight line, meaning it does pretty much what the centre symbol currently does. Here is the description of it in the manual:

Here is the gun cross alongside the CCIP symbology:

Here is the gun cross (highlighted yellow) alongside the air to air gun reticle (the missing reticle will get it's own report):
