Test Winged Corsairs 3v3: Best Tournament Model for Naval yet

Really enjoying this format. I hope it moves out of "Test" phase soon and it's offered continuously. All kinds of interesting play options open up when you lock each side to 1 cruiser and 2 supporting players each. Very rock-paper-scissors, with every game being a little bit different, and a lot of guesswork about what the other team will do based on their nation choices, their team record, and the map, no fixed meta yet at all, like most other tournaments ossify into eventually.

Take your cruiser out first, other side takes an He111 and Fritzes you. Unless you also took out a plane to take out the He 111. Unless they also took out a fighter to escort the He111. And so on.  Good work, those who organized it.

So you're getting more and more teams for this each week... how about reinforcing success and broadening the prize table so it keeps growing?

Also, could we add back the alternate spot. This is a swiss rounds tournament format, those and DEs should always have an alternate slot so that teams can work in new players and everyone can manage their commitments a little more easily. I get why no alternates in single elim, but this is a couple hours of straight play, there should be one alternate permitted.

See the difference is, unlike the tank tournaments, which are very hard to esport-watch, this 3v3 naval format would be perfect for streaming. Figuring out the cards in each players hand and the order they might play them would be quite fun for a twitch or youtube commentator. And they have said they want to grow the naval player base. Plus, it's the Russian way of war to reinforce success and this is the most successful format naval tournaments have had so far, I'd say. So... there's good arguments why it's in their best interest to reinforce their success here, yes.

The reduction of prizes for alternates made total sense for SE (single elimination), cause otherwise people could sign up and not play; if they are defending it on other grounds, like cost reduction, I can't say. For Swiss Rounds tournaments this weekend, they still permitted alternates for every mode -- except naval. So yeah, I think they should be consistent on alternates, to support the longer tournaments and encourage more participation. Yes for team Swiss/DE (all modes), no for any single player (obviously) and team SE (all modes) would be the most consistent rule to take here.

I didn't say increase their net costs for tournaments (although it would be nice, of course). But there are tournaments that are less interesting and for whom attendance is dropping or steady they could cut the prize tables on, too. Reinforce success.
