What if the panther II was added back as a premium to the german or the US tec tree? The panther II was never completed by Germany, only the hull and a few other parts. It was eventually captured by the Americans. They had fitted it with the panther G turret and a few other partd from the panther G.

I think it would be a really cool addition to the game either as victory day prize or maybe a top vehicle for the battle pass. I would like to see it as an event vehicle because that gives it a little more value.

I apologize for the lack of information, thoughts and ideas are welcome.

Would make a good US premium or event vehicle around 6.0 BR.

Why would? It was a captured vehicle. It was not modified and was not fielded. What would be next? The german receive a merkava because they got one in Munster? Or a B-17 because they captured some in ww2?

The Americans put the G turret on it. I’m pretty sure adding a turret to a hull that had no turret counts as modifying it.

So do you suggest adding the Panther II to the German tree with no turret?

Since the hull designed to mount that turret It is not an american modification in any way.

That is precisely why it should never be added to this game. Instead, what should be added to the German side should be the Panther II with the H-SKA 86176 / H-SK 88517 turret as pictured below:

Was this vehicle ever built? Like, Both the hull and turret, with both being assembled together?

Hull, yes. Turret, no. I'll quote one of the images you quoted: "Several turret designs were proposed but not completed for the Panther II." Given that Gaijin put the kibosh on the Coelian because a wooden mockup of the turret wasn't complete enough to meet their standards, I'd be shocked to see a turret design that never even made it off of paper.

You complain about prototypes that never saw combat. Now you want to replace paper with another paper vehicle?

It should be added as a premium or even US tank with the G turret. That’s the current configuration and the only complete configuration.

  • 1 month later...

The hull of the Panther II and the turret of the Panther G were built by Germany. The USA just combined them.

Holy scheisse no. It should stay unobtainable. Especially as almost/all components are german in origin and the americans haphazardly threw the turret on to 'complete it' as a museum piece.

Just add the Panther II and Panther 88 for the Germans. Although effectively paper or incomplete, it's far better than giving a Panther II/G for the US...

M64 was such a thing too sir , M42 chassis and M18 turret and gun , only FEW modifications .

the same goes for Panther G.

note : Panther 2 was abandoned by Germans at 1943 . ( not even 1944 or 1945) also the Turret was made in 1944 (the panther F turret) . which was after the abandonment of panther 2 chassis

Except M64 is actually fielded by ROC while Panther II/G is only tested for evaluation by the US.

Oh boy, this one is quite a doozy. Personally I would like to see this specific Panther in the US TT.

Firstly -

The US captured the vehicle, so either Germany loses the P-47 and Tempest, or the US gets this... (And Russia gets the Maus, so, there's that problem)

The Germans built the parts, which is why they have the TAM in their Tech tree... But the M64 exists in China's TT, and don't even mention the SK 105 or you will summon them. (Or the CanADATS)

The US only used the vehicle for testing and evaluation, which is further than the Germans got with it... But Sweden has Mi 28s and Apaches, so who really knows.

Gaijin will put it where ever they want it, so any arguments that rely on "X is there and Y isn't" are meaningless. However, if Gaijin feels a nation needs a little help in the BR range, they're more likely to bend the rules (See Every TT, like, every one.) So, the US has a very short 5.7 lineup, and more importantly, they have no real medium, with a good gun and alright armour. They've got the M4A3 which has a stab and a 76mm, but that really starts to struggle with 5.7 tanks from the front. A German long 75mm would really loosen up a lot of harder targets, while also providing some decent armour to go with the alright gun. Is it needed? No. Would I rather see the UK get Cuckoo? Yes.

The difference between a US capture vehicle and a German Captured vehicle was that the Germans would utilize the vehicle for way more than testing, in fact they'd utilize them to shoot at their previous owners...  so sure add a premium Panther II w/G turret to the US tree and while we're at it remove the premium cost from pretty much any captured German planes/tanks and add them to the regular tree along with adding a metric ton of captured vehicles from pretty much every tech tree in-game that was fielded in combat by German crews (hint its a very long list)... its completely fair right?

also to circle back to the Maus, sure give Russia a non-functional Maus (the state its still sitting in at the museum a blown up hollowed out hull)
