Countermeasures against automatic play in naval battles

Sorry for disrespecting your naval experience. The stats on the 'Search players' page can be very misleading sometimes. I'm starting to think it counts only coastal and destroyer time.

Yeah, Cruiser and BB stats do not show up in that tally at all, you'll need to look up a player in game to get a more precise view. And even that official Player Card does not show BB play time, although kills with BBs do at least get included in the total sum.

Weird. But also consistent with us still not having a BB sub-section here on the forum.

Anyone notice the new chinese cheaters or weird stuff with the spokoinyy and kirovs

Same farmed zomboats as before, just have found the most efficient path now. They came back in force after the last crafting event ended. Standard behavior as before, possibly still using some level of aimbotting (although not so obvious as it used to be), never use torps, never cap, tend to ignore other zomboats, ODL, random-letter user name starting lower-case, fresh account a few weeks old, only plays naval RB, plays the free Kerch you get for starting in Russian naval until they get the Spoky, 24/7, 100+ games a day, then switches to the next high-earning Russian ship. I think at this point it's just a way to start a sellable account with a favourable SL balance running a bot.

What's interesting about their behavior now (and makes them different from Helena AFKers) is they don't stick in spawn or try to maneuver with collision detection anymore, now they tend to charge out of spawn to a specific point and then stop and stay there. So the bot must be detecting the map and has a point (with maximum sightlines) that's considered the best place for them to be. Also the numbers are way down, maybe one or two a match at the low BRs.

It's funny, cause of the distinct camo, I just assume any Kerch is a zomboat. Occasionally a human Kerch player can surprise me by seeing a torp, etc.

I think there is aim bot involved. Sometimes they get 6-8k dmg just from shooting max range but their overall stats are horrible.

Yeah the zomboat script has continually evolved but there was definitely some aimbotting at one point, just some OSKs from spawn to spawn in reserve destroyers that I've never seen a human come close to doing. It seems a little softer now, but it's hard to say with damage model changes and the like too.

Smoke and islands still cause them to lose lock, they can't deal with torps at all, their damage control isn't great, and you know as soon as you see the boat type and interrogate the name  they're not a cap threat and where they are going to be all match. They're not terrible teammates, honestly, if you assume they're going to ODL and not cap so you have to do that part.

One quick way to identify them (for now): They are usually not turning their main turrets after spawning until the first closest enemy is visible to them. They also only go for the nearest enemy usually.

Best regards,

Phil

Just after the server went down today, I got on a battleship in RB and enjoyed a heated battle with almost no BOTs. I checked the server replays and found only 1 player out of 23 with the main gun on auto fire. Well.... no wonder BOT players can't handle server down. If management would take the servers down more often, we could ban the BOTs! lol

Those are not new. Its just when the chat ban was in place it seemed like the mods were doing a better job of banning them. Its been around a year since they started showing up in matches. Originally they used a rank 2 german destroyer and Emden. I'd say ,personally, their aiming has been toned down compared to before the premium overrun.

I assume there are 3 types of automatic play.

1. Low/mid tier scripted bot operate by studios

2. Alt+3 high tier premium (e.g. Helena)

3. Individuals who use scripted bot and premium ships.

As some people may agree with me, the in-game AI gunner have nearly horrible accuracy on naval target most of the time. So I assume it is viable but far from efficient for some people to alt3 and they shall use scripted bot something that provided by studio. Well, if anything I've learned after witnessed countless named "pawdhlg" or "283650347" Kerch, that is this destroyer indeed fit the tactic of sit and shoot, thanks to its triple rear gun layout.

Scripted bot have pretty identical pattern in their name and behavior, if GJ want to reduce them or whatsoever it won't be hard at all. Alt+3 afk gangs are just using the game mechanism in a wrong manner, but not violating the rules, as people already talked about.

The AI gunner issue has somewhat created a byproduct issue which can be best described as a 'skill deficit'. Some players have gotten too comfortable playing against AI players. Their sloppiness is getting them sunk just as fast as the AI players.

Well,i stopped playing naval. Now its full of aimbotters. They just stand on spawn and aimbot on every ship. Its even worse than zomboats, they have 100% accuracy and can hit you even when you are fully concealed in smoke.

I seen one of these, a Helena with 21k dmg and in the replay was just snapping everywhere. Normally it's the kirovs/spokys though.

The Apex Predators update takes action against players who are programmed to auto-participate in matches. Only the use of auto-fire guns will not be rewarded. The number of players who auto-fire their main gun and participate in auto-programmed matches has decreased, but still exists. Players who can auto-fire their main gun and hit their secondary gun with some sort of program are being rewarded.

After the update, server replays and player logs confirmed this. One player played 81 matches in two days on a premium cruiser in Naval Battles RB and received 137074 RP, which works out to 1692 RP per match.

Using a program to automatically join matches and receive rewards is against the rules of the game. gaijin does not intend to ban such cheating players, but further action is required.

Even with the new Russian-Ship bots doing their thing, the good old afk Helena spam isn't dead either. A screenshot from about 2 hours ago, during prime time with more than 180.000 players online and 5000 active matches:

maybe all bots but also makes sense to play helena for the event if you have her.
