3440x1440 + DLDSR/DSR + Full Window Mode = Stretched Image?

Hi, as mentioned in the title, I am attempting to run all of the above settings, but in-game images tend to look like this:

Rather unflattering and stretched horizontally.

The only other alternative that works is all of the above settings, except switching to Full Screen mode:

This completely fixes the image.

Problem solved, right? But alas, I also frequently alt+tab to other windows while I play. Running in Full Screen mode forces my screen to black out for around 3 seconds when switching to another window, then another 3 seconds or so to go back to the game. This is quite jarring and also wastes time.

Is there anything I can do to run the aforementioned settings, but at the same time, use Full Window mode for easier alt tabbing?

@Fireball_2020 You can find it in the Nvidia control panel, in the same tab you find the usual DSR. Once you've set it up, you change the resolution in War Thunder's launcher.

@JPAU401i use the steam launcher, does it still work?

I also run an "ultra wide" monitor with that 3440 x1440 and I set it to "Auto", if I use the 3440 x1440 it says the image is too large. I also run it in "Windowed" mode so I can see my task bar. I am running two monitors in this set up as well. It works very well and I enjoy some extra viewing with the ultra wide. Only issue I have in games is that the HUD does not go all the way out to the edge. It stops short, in the hangar, it uses the entire screen, but when playing a match, everything is pushed in a bit, doesn't seem to utilize the additional screen space, just for the HUD portion.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will give it a try.   . . . well, I guess it is something to do with the "Windowed" option, no matter the Safe Area selected, it stays pushed in, the Fullscreen or Full Windowed it is out all the way to the edge. I can work with that. Thanks for your help tho @ JPAU401

@LeChance Perhaps this might work for you. "Options > "Battle Interface" > "Safe Area in HUD" set to 100%

My UI is pushed to the edges of the screen.

@JPAU401 So I enabled 2.25x or whatever it is in NVidia, I wasn’t sure if I have to enable it as my res in control panel so I just did it anyway, then I did as you said and clicked 4K on the warthunder launcher, however when I launched in game it says the res is 1440p still, now I think about it, I set the config file to 1.5x for MSAA and read only, is that causing he issue?

@Fireball_2020 You don't need to change your resolution in windows, only the one in the game launcher. Make your resolution changes before you set the config file to read only, since it won't save the changes you made.

So I leave my resolution at 1440p in NVidia Control Panel, but have the DSR res enabled as an option, then when I boot up the game, select the DSR res?

Yes, that's correct. But you must use the launcher to change the resolution before continuing.

This is because you can't change to the DSR resolution in the in-game settings.

Thanks so much! The only reason I didn’t want to use DLDSR was because by setting it in windows it would make everything look wierd and small, if I get use it on a per game basis that’s amazing.

having the same problem, going from 2560x1440 to 3840x2160, fullscreen is fine, but windowsfullscreen is streched, tried forcing 16:9 in the config with

force_aspect_ratio:t="16:9"

but didn't help.

can run fullscreen because if you tab out every now and then the "video driver hang" pops up and set graphics settings to lowish and disables nvidia overlay.
