Intel® Graphics Windows DCH Drivers Version 30.0.101.1069 (latest at time of writing bug report) incompatible with War Thunder (error)

# I have:

# Game version

My game version: (2.11.0.106)

# Description

Launching War Thunder with the latest Intel graphics drivers installed (version 30.0.101.1069 at the time of writing this report) leads to an error before the game runs where a pop-up window reads that I am using an outdated driver, that it may cause errors, and to please update my driver version.

It further lists the installed display driver's name and version number and the driver's release date with "Unknown" written in the middle: (Intel Iris Plus Graphics Unknown 30.0.101.1069 2021/11/09).

After showing me this error message, clicking "OK" starts the game in Ultra-low settings mode.

To be clear, I already have the latest graphics drivers installed. Either the launcher or the game itself doesn't recognize the driver version for some unknown reason.

# Steps to reproduce the issue

  1. Download and install the latest Intel DCH graphics drivers for Intel Iris Plus G7 iGPU (version 30.0.101.1069 at the time of writing this report) on a computer with an intel CPU with intergrated graphics.

  2. Launch the game with the full client and EasyAntiCheat enabled.

Launcher log

Please provide them as well.

I found the corresponding launcher log, but there isn't a problem report file created in the .game_logs folder or the .start_app_logs folder because the launcher nor game crashes (the game starts, but in Ultra-low settings mode). I've added the launcher log to the original post under the dxdiag file.

Follow-up on my bug.

After installing the new "Winged Lions" update, the bug still persists but manifests differently. There isn't an "Outdated driver" error dialogue popping up before running the game. War Thunder starts normally, however, there is a message at the top left of the screen that says the following: "Video driver hung and was restarted. Texture quality reduced". It reduces my texture quality from High to Low. Turns out it isn't a graphics driver problem, it's War Thunder that's unstable (I say this with confidence since every other game I play runs perfectly with no hiccups whatsoever). It doesn't surprise me at all, since the dev team over at Gaijin can't be bothered to FIX their game and instead prefer adding in girls in seductive christmas-themed clothing  to the hangar.

Also, there is still that black artefact terrain bug that hasn't been addressed in months, but the bug is still there, trust me, (I've been checking if the issue got fixed with each update). Here's a link to that bug report, in case you've forgotten:

The devs need to get their priorities straight and start optimizing the game correctly. This is ridiculous.

Well many of us do not have your issue.  In fact, it seems to be only those machines who's specifications are questionable.

System Requirements

For PC

Minimum:

    OS: Windows Vista/7/8/10
    Processor: Dual-Core 2.2 GHz
    Memory: 4GB (Windows Vista/7/8/10)
Video Card: DirectX 10.1 level video card: Intel HD Graphics 5100 / AMD Radeon 77XX / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 (The minimum supported resolution for the game is 720p)
    Network: Broadband Internet connection
    Hard Drive: 17 GB

Recommended:

    OS: Windows 7 64bit / 8 64bit / 10 64bit
Processor: Intel Core i5 or Ryzen 5 3600 and better
    Memory: 16 GB and more
Video Card: DirectX 11 level video card or higher and drivers: Nvidia GeForce 1060 and higher, Radeon RX 560 and higher
    Network: Broadband Internet connection
    Hard Drive: 35 GB

We have already discussed that a Surface Pro is not really a 'good' gaming machine.  It is a device that is really designed to be an 'Internet machine'.  Basic Word etc via the cloud.

I will discuss this further with the Developers.

My Surface Pro model's processor capabilites exceed the minimum requiremets. The base clock speed of the processor is at 1.30 Ghz, but it's capable of boosting to 3.90 Ghz (higher than 2.20 Ghz, which is what the minimum requirements ask for).

As for the video card, my intergrated graphics card is more powerful than the HD Graphics lineup, and it's DirectX 12 capable.

What I'm trying to say is that my laptop can theoretically handle War Thunder perfectly fine. I manage to run the game at 40-50fps on customized medium settings. The problem obviously stems from bad optimization for Intel intergrated graphics cards, which seem to be neglected when it comes to developing the game.

The only way you can get a Surface Pro to 3.90Ghz is by over clocking it.  War Thunder does not support over clocked machines.

Also, the Arts department that makes the graphics, is separate from the software developers. Companies can do two(or even more) things at once.
