# Game version : (2.9.0.56)

# Description

Since the "It's Fixed ! n°23" patch has been introduced into the game on 22/09/2021, the neutral pivot gear turning speed (or "rotation speed" as I will call it in this post for the sake of simplicity) of both the Leclerc S1 and the Leclerc S2 is now slower by quite a big margin.

Following the introduction of the aforementioned patch, it is quicker now to rotate the hull of both Leclercs during the first 0,5 second following the pressing of the according key.

However, after this short delay, the maximum speed at which both vehicles can rotate their hull is now much slower.

It used to be close to 10-11 seconds for a full 360° rotation but is now more in the realm of 15-16 seconds.

# Steps to reproduce the issue

  1. Open the game ;

  2. Launch a Test Drive in either the "Leclerc" (S1) or the "Leclerc S2" ("Leclerc S2" is preferred as it will be my reference throughout all this bug report) in either Realistic or Simulator battles mode ;

  3. Press whatever key is assigned to your keyboard for "Ground vehicle steering" (default = A and D) to rotate one way or the other the hull of the vehicle.

# Additional Information

I made 2 short videos that I uploaded on Youtube to give a rough idea of the neutral turning speed before the patch and after the patch.

- Here is a first video showcasing the rotation speed of the Leclerc S2 before the patch :

Spoiler

I will C&P the description I wrote with the video because I believe it's relevant to the understanding of the issue :

"A short video about a 1/4th of a full rotation I made in the Leclerc S2 in one of the last matches that are still available to me in the "replay" tab of the game from before the "It's Fixed ! n°23" update of the 22/09/2021.

This short sequence displays how much faster Leclerc MBTs used to turn in neutral gear compared to now.

This 100° turn is made in 3 seconds VS the 4 seconds necessary to make a 90° turn in the other video.

Keep in mind that the first 0,5 second of the turn used to be slower than now, which indicates there was a much faster rotation rate after the first 0,5 second."

- Here is the second video showcasing the rotation speed of the Leclerc S2 after the patch :

Spoiler

I will C&P the description I wrote with the video as well because I believe it's relevant to the understanding of the issue :

"Following the other video I made on the subject, here is a short video about a 1/4th of a full rotation in the Leclerc S2 made after the changes made by the "It's Fixed ! n°23" update of the 22/09/2021 at the exact same spot on the Frozen Pass map the first video was recorded.

This short sequence displays how much slower Leclerc MBTs used to turn in neutral gear compared to now.

This 90° turn is made in 4 seconds VS the 3 seconds necessary to make a 100° turn in the other video.

Keep in mind that the first 0,5 second of the turn is now much faster than before the patch, which indicates there is now a much slower rotation rate after the first 0,5 second."

As you can see on the first video, the Leclercs needed some time (about 0,5 second of very slow rotation speed) to wind up to get to their maximum rotation, speed which was much higher than the one we currently have.

On the second video, the maximum rotation speed is reached more quickly but on the other hand, the maximum rotation speed is lower than before the patch.

So the first video leads to believe a full rotation would require about x4 times the amount of time (so 4 x 3 = 12 seconds) necessary to make the turn of the video but keep in mind that out of the 3 seconds the Leclerc needs in the first video to make this turn, 0,5 second is used to "wind up" to the maximum rotation speed so a full rotation would actually be slightly shorter than that.

Meanwhile, on the second video, it requires 4 seconds to make a slightly shorter rotation even though it doesn't have similar the "wind up" time to get to it's maximum speed : it's almost instantaneous, so saying it would require 4 times the amount of time (so 4 x 4 = 16 seconds) to make a full rotation seem to be a good estimate.

So from the first video, we get a 100° turn done in 3 seconds, so about 100 / 3 = 33,33° per second. On a full 360° turn, it would require roughly  360 / 33,33 = 10,8 seconds  which is on par with the estimated 10-11 seconds I mentioned earlier in the post, to make a full 360° rotation.

From the second video, we get a 90° turn done in 4 seconds, so about 90 / 4 = 22,5° per second. On a full 360° turn, it would require roughly  360 / 22,5 = 16 seconds  which is on par with the estimated 16 seconds I mentioned earlier in the post, to make a full 360° rotation.

- Here's an additional video :

Spoiler

This video is showcasing a full 360° rotation of the Leclerc MBT after the "It's Fixed ! n°23" update.

As you can see, it takes a whole 16 seconds to occur, exactly like I predicted earlier.

Even though I did not make a video for the Leclerc S1, it requires a full 15 to 16 seconds to make a full 360° rotation as well.

This decreased rotation speed is obviously an issue no matter the situation a Leclerc will find itself in.

It can especially become an issue in the following situations :

- In urban combat, where the hull of the vehicle will often be required to rotate one way or the other. Maps containing urbanized areas are very common in WT ;

- Even outside of urban areas, it heavily hampers the Leclercs' mobility in all situations but especially in a hull down position, or any slopped position for that matter, where the rotation speed becomes evidently even slower.

In such a position, it can get so slow that the vehicle becomes virtually unable to rotate, forcing the player to relocate to perform the maneuver.

# Affected vehicles

  • "Leclerc" (S1) ;

  • "Leclerc S2".

# Sources

Source n°1 :

Spoiler

This video displays a Leclerc S.XXI (block of additional armor below the gunner optic) doing a full 360° rotation in 12 seconds.

First, I'd like to point out that the Leclerc in this video is performing the characteristic 0,5 second "wind up" I described earlier, that was present in the game before the "It's Fixed ! n°23" update.

Now, as you may observe in this video, starting from 1:17, it takes the vehicle about 12 seconds to make a full 360° rotation.

It is worth mentioning that the vehicle showcased in this video is a Leclerc S.XXI (additional block of protection below the gunner's optic), which is a more modern and heavier version of both the Leclercs that are currently in game.

The Leclerc S1 weights 54.5T, the Leclerc S2 weights 56.3T while Leclerc S.XXI weights 57.6T, so 5.3% more than the Leclerc S1 and 2.2% more than the Leclerc S2.

So the Leclerc S.XXI would evidently have a slower neutral rotation speed than the other 2 Leclercs we currently have in the game, the same way the Leclerc S2 has a slightly slower neutral turning speed than the Leclerc S1.

This may explain the additional second or second and half that may differ from my 10,8 seconds result from earlier.

Source n°2 :

Spoiler

Here we can see a Leclerc S2 (no additional block of armor below the gunner's optic like the Leclerc S.XXI but AC unit on the back of the turret) doing a full rotation in 10 seconds.

Once again, you can notice the short "wind up" time necessary for the vehicle to reach it's maximum rotation speed.

The necessary time to make the full 360° rotation here is 10 seconds, which is close enough to my 10,8 seconds estimate from earlier.

Lastly, exactly as predicted earlier, the Leclerc S2 seems to need a little less time than the Leclerc S.XXI to make a full 360° rotation, undoubtedly because of the additional weight induced by the additions of the S.XXI version.

Source n°3 :

Spoiler

And lastly, here's a very short video displaying a Leclerc S2 (no additional block of armor below the gunner's optic like the Leclerc S.XXI, AC unit on the back of the turret is barely visible ) doing 50° rotation turn in 1,55 second.

Even though the short wind up delay can not be observed here (it would seem like it was done already), the rotation speed still matches what is seen in the other 2 sources :

50 / 1,55 = 32,26°/s and 360 / 32,26 = 11,16 seconds for a full 360° rotation, so close enough to my previous result of 10,8 seconds.

Summarizing the sources :

- The first source is displaying a Leclerc S.XXI doing a full 360° rotation in about 12 seconds ;

- The second source displays a Leclerc S2 doing a full 360° rotation in 10 seconds ;

- The third video displays a Leclerc S2 doing a 50° rotation done in 1,5 seconds, which roughly suggests a full 360° rotation done in 11,16 seconds.
