War Thunder "Direct Hit - Changelog

ZPRK 2S6, OTOMATIC, FlaRakRad, FlaRakPz 1 - Optical air target tracking mode has been added.

What exactly is meant with this?

Do we finally have PURE radar guidance on the SAMs, and then a manual guidance mode, which needs to be selected?

  • MiG-21SMT, MiG-21 MF - SPS-141 flare block has been added.

This should have come 2 patches ago, with the Chaff update. Glad to finally have it.

PS: I am sad, that we do not had the Mi-24V and the Mi-24P grouped. Considering there is grouping for the He-111 H-6 and H-16.

The new test drive is exactly what should have been done long ago:) Vehicles respawn AND you can resupply ammo. I used to make user missions to test damage models. Now I can finally take advantage of test drive.

I hope i live to see the new maps, i`ve been playing continuously for 5 hours in various ranks and not even the old new maps. It's 2021 and we play easter europe small size and factory repeatedly several times in gRB.

Aside that i cannot imagine the work behind all these updates, and on a funny note i`m surprised people didnt knew r60M as it is in game for several years on the Mi24P.

Congrats Gaijin but please polish up on these improvements (new maps deserve to be played especially at top tier where either air and ground battles (R) are chaos also because of the number of players / square meter.

Just a small question , is the R-60M missile all aspect ? I can`t test it right now since am not at home ...

Yup

Hi

Appears that in Ground RB you can no longer mark an enemy position on the map as you used to.  The voice declares "attention to the marked gridzone" etc, but no mark appears, either for yourself or any other player.

Frustrating

Fuel selection for airplanes is incredibly bugged. No matter what you choose the game loads you with a different amount (i.e. choose 20 but get 6).

Getting killed by your own guns is just plain unplayable.

The A-5C seems vastly overpowered right now with its combined airspawn, R.550s at 10.0, and flares. Anything around its BR gets eaten up.

AMX-13 FL-11 - Fire rate has been changed from 8 to 10 shots per minute. Source.

US test report as posted in the sources you have linked has clearly written 14 shots per minutes for the FL-11 turret.

Why do you insist on giving the vehicule a mediocre value rather than it's historically accurate performance ?

Agreed, the A-5C would be perfect for 10.3

Ok. So....

Bugs so far

  • No more grass in ground battles
  • Huge black something in the sky on the Carpathians map
  • "Attention to..." no longer shows an indicator on the map
  • One round in air arcade had me without showing any enemies - they were there, downing me, but both the roster and the sky was empty for me
  • Minor glitches like eternally burning chopper parts in the sky

Bummer since it was running oh so nicely for the last few weeks.

Sounds are good, but the settings reset caught me off guard. The new Phantom sounds are extremely welcome and sound great, and the general gun sounds for everything have been significantly improved.

Top tier tank balance has been destroyed, with massive buffs to all top Soviet tanks thanks to the ERA buff. Soviets performed fine as they were, with NATO rounds already being neutered, and now it shows more than ever. The devs that work with tank balance need to re-consider the BR placement and spawn cost of this as a reaction. 4 best in class tanks for the Soviets already gave them a lot of room to simply over power enemies in sheer numbers, and the addition of the M1A1 HC was a great choice to supplement the US tree, bringing them up to 2 solid tanks, like every other nation at that tier. The squadron Apache was also a good choice to try and supplement the Soviet helicopter droves and even though head to head it cant really fight them, it seems like it will be good for anti-tank.

Top tier jets is a mess, whether its the teams rushing to grind out their respective jets or the implementation of all aspect missiles. To be honest the R-60M is a great example of the massive power creep issue. The Mig-23M was already a decent aircraft which performed much better than any historical records I have seen, but 30G all aspect missiles is a bit much to counter AIM-7E-2's which keep in mind, on jets like the US Phantom E are kind of pointless; At high altitude where the radar actually works, jets struggle to pull anywhere close to the G loads to dodge a 15 G missiles. This leaves the E-2's "dogfight" ability to extend the missiles ability to altitudes where planes could out pull an E-1, except the radar literally does not work at any altitude to take advantage of the E-2's extra maneuverability. When you compare this to the Soviet buff, which arguably fits the "meta" of jets significantly better along with the improved controls of the Mig-23M it makes the already bloated and generally unreliable phantoms even worse. - This excludes the phantoms with doppler radars, where in their case this is a balanced addition (with the obvious power creep).

The TLDR: Variety of jets and armament is always welcome, but the implication and balance of a game should in the end be paramount. Developers should consider rebalancing specifically top tier around the multitude of changes.

To be honest i pretty much like most of the stuff but also i have never seen more bugs than this patch!  F35A, wich i bought, fuel bug, guns bug, i start the battle with 21 mins of fuel, land and repair, reload with 14mins of fuel... A5C sits at 10.0 with missiles that a lot of high tier jets wish they would have. I admit it is a big patch but Gaijin nedeed to test it more and to give it more attention

The content is very nice, but unfortunately the update is quite buggy. I will file a report for them, but the list I've encountered so far is as follows:
-Marking a grid square no longer works. When you click on the map, the coordinate that is actually marked is a coordinate not visible on the playable map (like instead of pinging E, 4 the marker will show up at X, 25)

-There is a hole on the bottom of the A-5C that can be seen through. Instead of looking through the hole and seeing the inside of the plane, you actually see the what's outside the plane. So if you look up through the hole you will see the sky.

-Something is eating up the GPU. I've gotten lower framerates and my game crashed due to it once. Pretty concerning.

-Water can be seen inside the cabin of the Bv-138

On the positive end, there is a lot of nice content. The new maps are beautiful, and seem like they will be interesting to play. The new vehicles/weapon systems are mostly exciting. The new sounds are mostly welcome, with only a few things that are disappointing. Hopefully they will stop changing the sounds so much and keep them as is, only minorly tweaking things as the game goes on. One of my favorite things in the update is the new ground test drive. It's beautiful, functional, and I'm eager to play around in it. My only improvement for it would be to make it slightly bigger (so we can climb the mountains and stuff, and try taking long range shots).

On the negative side of things, besides bugs, I only have a few grievances. The new wingtip effect is very odd looking. It looks very fake for some reason. The Phantom's new engine sounds sound strange, I'm not sure if they're more realistic or just a change.

I want to ask why the crusader F-8E (FN) has a repair cost superior to the F8-E? (F-8E (FN): 2530 / F8-E: 1880)

We have the same plane in two nations released today with the F8-E being the superior version.

Somehow, we ended up to have a french plane with a repair cost superior to the american one while having far less weapons (even if it's historically acurate).

It was the same with the F-84F and the F-100D: A higher repair cost than the american one.

Mk.M1 540-lb— The weight of the explosive mass has been changed from 87.1 to 105.23 kg (Air Publication 1661B, Volume 1 - Bombs / OP 1665, British Explosive Ordnance, pag 29).

Dear Developing team, thanks for taking the time to check the report and provide a fix. However, there is a tiny mistake, this explosive mass (105.23 kg Torpex) change should be meant for the (Late war) HE MC 500 lb bombs, not the post-war 540lb bombs.

The bomb depicted on the page 29 is a late war MC 500lb. Note the two bombs are different, with the 540lb being the replacement of the MC 500lb and living up in service upon replacement by Paveway.

Although, the model of the MC 500lb in-game is also not entirely correct, possibly the cause of the confusion, but this can be fixed on another time.

For the actual explosive mass of the 540lb bomb and further fixes, please revisit these reports:

My understanding is that RoF has always been a 'soft' stat.  Close to historic but used to balance vehicles.
