Rptd: Random FPS drops / Stutters

# Game version 2.7.0.235

# I have:

# Platform

PC ( System Specs : AMD Ryzen 9 5900x; RTX 3080; 32 GB Ram; Windows 10 21H1 )

# Description

The Game is stuttering randomly eventhough my PC is more than capable of handling a smooth framerates. These Framedrops usualy are from a relative stable 140 FPS down to 100 or less.

# Steps to reproduce the issue

Basically play any match wiith easy anti cheat enabled (Ground Rb or Air RB)

# Additional Information

Through checking of the Eventviewer, i noticed whenever the Framedrops happen, at the exact same time an error happens. " Session "dc3a3596-71e1-45a3-b2ea-39ad5322fe51" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000022"

The AppID is the one of War Thunder, and by research this led me to believe the Framedrops have something to do with Easy Anti Cheat.

Hi,

I cannot open .rar files to look at the clog.  Can you please upload it to the forums either in .zip format, or preferably uncompressed.

You also need to add the requested game replay files and if possible with a video showing the framedrop and its impacts.  This is requested in the template.  Please ensure that you follow the template.

Did you use the FPS tool as indicated in the template?

You have 48 hours to provide the information requested or your report will be closed and you will need to re-submit it with all the information etc asked for in the template.

I do note that we have seen issues previously with that frankfurt server that is in your tracert.  While this particular tracert shows no issues, it is possible that the server is the issue.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks,  that file is only 6Mb you should be able to load that to the forums directly.  IF you are having issues with the Forum limitation.  See below.

For the Forum upload limitation:

Please go to your Forum Profile.  (Very top right hand side of this page - you will see your username displayed -next to Messages and Notifications)

Select > Profile Name > My Attachments (Left hand side menu)

IF you have previous reports, which the Technical Moderator has told you that your issue has been reported to the Developers, then you can delete those files, as they were uploaded to the database.

Select the File(s) that are no longer required and Delete accordingly.

Does this happen on any particular map?

After having a look at the replay, you are certainly one of the last folks to join the game.   Others show no issue.  This is usually due to the connection.  Do you use a wi-fi or cable connection to your router/modem?   Can you play a few games with the Profiler running and make tracert's for any time where you have this issue.  I suspect that it is that frankfurt server, as the issue.  One of my German tech friends tells me it is one of the largest server farms in Germany.  After the flooding there etc it maybe under considerable load.

Cheers

Well ive had these drops since IXWA strike, which was before the flooding.
And these drops also randomly happen in the Test drive aswell ( very rare though).
If i remember correctly on some maps its worse than on others. ( Advance to the rhine and berlin are the worst.)

Also ive spoken to a few of my friends who are not from Germany, they have these drops aswell.
Plus i keep an eye on my ping and packetloss whenever these stutters happen, packetloss always is at 0% and ping usually is around 20-30ms.

If it is happening in Test Drive, then it will most likely be your machine.  The Test Drive environment uses a 'loopback' address.  It never uses the servers.;)

  • Are you using a wi-fi connection or cable to the modem, as I have asked?
  • Do you share the network/LAN with others?
  • What time of the day are you playing?
  • Is it during your regions 'peak period'? etc

As I have previously indicated:

Can you please run some games with the Profiler running and also provide the tracert's at that time.  That way we have concrete information with which to deal with.  Not speculation.  This is why we ask for it to be done.  It will also show if particular maps are causing any issues etc.

Ping only tells you if you can 'reach' a server.  This is why we use the more indicative 'tracert' command, this traces the entire path of the data packets.

Thanks

The test drive ones are on me, they resulted from something else which i fixed.

To answer your questions: - I play via LAN; i do share the LAN with others; i play in the evenings during the week, and no specified time on weekends, you could say i play during peak hours, but i also play on times which are not typical peak hours on the weekend or lately in holiday ( during 12pm till 7 am )

I played another three matches with the profiler running and screencapped whenever the drops happened, on the second screen i had MTR running, looking at the traceroute in 1 second intervalls.
Because it doesnt capture the times and that stuff you have to take my word for it, whenever these stutters happen, the trace to the frankfurt server is exactly as high as the other traces ( as in image of the traceroute).

Something i've noticed though, is whenever this stutter happens, i have a new error in the eventviewer, its always either
Session "dfa2c640-651d-488d-a479-2fd7a7ca6e29" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000022 | Kernel-EventTracing Event ID 2 or
Session "dc3a3596-71e1-45a3-b2ea-39ad5322fe51" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000022 | Kernel-EventTracing Event ID 2.

I mentioned this ealier, these errors always happen exactly at the time the stutters happen, and as far as i know they have something to do with easy anticheat ( which ive reinstalled and repaired prior to testing)

Ive attached the new .clog, and a xml file with the eventview logs of these errors as a zip.

also here are the replay links to the 3 matches each with its corresponding videos of the fps drops.

2. Domination Karelia https://warthunder.com/en/tournament/replay/141738915817620405

3. Conquest #3 Karelia https://warthunder.com/en/tournament/replay/141741544337606892

Believe me when i say so, but i really dont think this is a connection issue on my part, it looks like the games is microfreezing for a split second, and ive never seen such a thing in connection to internet issues.

Update:
Ive searched for the event id error and found a similar bug/ issue was happening in Apex Legends ( also with Easy Anticheat)
So i tried to play a few matches with EAC disabled in Ground Arcade.
And i havent had a single freeze/ fps drop, and my event view doesnt show any error regarding  "Session "dc3a3596-71e1-45a3-b2ea-39ad5322fe51" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000022".
But as soon as i started the game up again with EAC enabled and played one match Ground RB, stutter and freezes are back, aswell as a few entries regarding that error.

Can you please shut down the game if running, go into your War Thunder directory using File Manager (or similar) and delete the EAC directory and then restart the game.

The game will upload a new version and install it.

See if this corrects it.

Also please ensure that you do not have any 'suspect' software installed.  Even if it is not game related.  I have seen EAC be triggered by a pirated version of Windows.

I removed the folders and let the launcher redownload EAC, and hadnt had any eventview entries so far.
(Also i dont have any suspect software and my windows is activated ;D )
The stutter/freezes/fps drops persist though. I still get them in RB Ground.
Ive noticed though that the GPU usage drops to zero or just by 20-30%, for a split second whenever this drop happens.

Well back to square one.

A new module for EAC has been released. Check it out. Is there a problem at this time?

@DanderAnimosus

Hi, The Developers would like to know if this issue is still relevant for you?   Do you still have this issue?

If so, can you use the FPS tool, run about 3 games etc and provide the new clog files, relpays, dxdiag etc.

Thanks

I will run a few matches tomorrow.
However i can already tell, that the event log error disappeared, however the stutters and drops are still present as i also posted atleast one different bug report regarding that.
