Can you use mines to destroy bases?

Because they seem to have much more explosives than bombs.

Or do they only explode if a tank is nearby?

I asked because I have only played a few bombers so far and none had mines, only normal bombs.

But this kind of begs another question: why use bombs instead of mines if you have a choice?

I mean if they are of equal weight - only mines inevitably seem to have more explosives.

Do bombs of equal weight to mines, but with less explosive mass, still have some sort of an advantage?

That, I'm not too sure of.  I know that when it comes to bombing bases, though, explosive mass will obviously be more important since that's what's counted on the scoreboard anyway.
