Why is the F89D airburst rockets still in the game?

Because it's a very popular and powerful premium vehicle that generates copious amounts of revenue and $$$ for Gaijin Entertainment from customers/players that purchase and use it.

So in this case, that is exactly why they are not going to change it no matter how unhistorical the armament is or how ridiculously unbalanced it makes for other vehicles to play as a result.

End of story.

I thought this game really had an amazing dedication to realism? That's why all of their decisions are backed up by copious sources, changes are only made ensuring and to ensure realism? Why did they throw it out the window for this one specifically?

Lol what? Where did you hear that? We have WWII vehicles facing cold war era vehicles and vehicles that never existed (Ho 229 V3, R2Y2 etc.). This game is not realistic and not historical.

The Ho229 existed, there were 3 prototypes

The V3 version was captured by the Americans and finished in the USA

As it is in game, the Horten did not exist.

Gaijin gave it guns and more powerful engines iirc

Exactly, it has the wrong engines and guns. It either needs to be fixed or removed from the game. But since this game is NOT realistic and NOT historical, that will not happen.

That is false, the R2Y2s were never built and the Ne-330 engine was only partially completed before work was stopped by American bombing raids and then the end of the war. The V2 and the V3 versions both represent the later plans of the R2Y2 which positioned the jet engines in the rear and the air intake in the front instead of as on the earlier plan where the engines were mounted on the wing, represented in-game by the V1. What isn't known is if this second iteration of the R2Y2 plans had the air intake in the nose or not, which is why there are two versions of it in-game; the V3 being the debated one.

_SilentFlummi_ isn't talking about the R2Y2s, he's talking about Ho 229 V3 which is captured by the US and now still in storage in US.

To add to my previous comment before, I actually directly talked to Smin1080p a while back about the F-89D and it's complete fictional super powerful airburst rockets about in this topic thread:

And he responded with this:

"We have several vehicles in game with similar situations. In those cases, the developers always try to use the most interesting loadouts that were possible so the aircraft is generally more interesting. Its the same case with tanks and shells. Some tanks have shells they didn't use in real life, but could."

I guess this confirms that we can now expect completely made up and ridiculously powerful weapons that never equipped actually equipped on vehicles now.

All because it's more 'interesting...'

War Thunder is now officially reached WoT and WoWP peak level now.

I don't know what else to say.
