Possible wrong warhead mass for all AIM-7 missiles.

This report is only based on the assumption that war thunder calculates the Explosive mass of missiles as the total warhead mass.

For example, for a pure HE missile, 5kg tnt is 5kg tnt.

But should the missile have tungsten rods as its warhead, it would be the total weight of the warhead converted to TNT.

I think this is the case with all missiles in war thunder, as the game does not simulate the different warheads, it just calculs it as if it was TNT.

Currently, AIM-7D have a warhead of 11.52kg

I think there is a chance, the developers forgot to add the rod's weight, which would total at around 20 to 30kg.

This website mentions 20kg and 30kg warheads. I do not think they invented these numbers, in fact, they seem pretty close to the Red Top.

I'm having a hard time finding a source however...

But I'd love to know where the devs found these numbers.

Game provide the explosive mass.

That is the mass of the explosive.

The warhead weight (explosive + fragmentation metal etc) has never been mentioned in game since the release of the open beta.

It can be both a warhead of 20-30kg and an explosive filler of 5kg.

In game, we have shell weight ans shell explosive filler for tanks, and for aircraft the missile / warhead weight is not part of the description
