Mitchverr 547 Report post Posted November 5, 2020 So with the new update coming and wrecks staying "as they are" and possibly blocking roads and needing to be towed out the way I had a thought... Why not give the AVRE (and any future vehicles like it) the power to use the bulldozer on the front of the vehicle for moving wrecks easier IE ability to lift/drop it for get under vehicles and lifting them? It could be used for a couple of things. 1) Moving wrecks out the way while pushing forward, especially useful in urban areas with limited space for possibly getting "stuck" wrecks to move in a way that can then be pushed out the way. 2) Helping allies who are flipped over be "unflipped" again with the assistance of another vehicle. (EG the AVRE lifts 1 side of the flipped ally while a 2nd uses the tow hook to pull it fully over). 3) shenanigans of lifting enemy tanks up so they can't keep shooting at you (we all know this is what it will be used for lol) I don't know if its even possible or a good idea, but thought I would share it.
TheFuzzieOne 3,196 Report post Posted November 5, 2020 (edited) The bulldozer was not intended for moving tanks. I don't believe its hydraulics can take that sort of weight. They were for ramming debris and blockades out the way, not 60 ton vehicles. Maybe it could, if so then its torque should be modelled, but I don't believe it goes that high on the dozer. Specialist recovery vehicles were there for that. Edited November 5, 2020 by TheFuzzieOne
__RACERX__ 177 Report post Posted February 19 A tangent on the bulldozer blade... for those who own the AVRE, does WT seem to model the blade 70 mm thickness as armor and the air gap between the blade and the frontal slope of the armor packs and plate of the tank itself. I'm thinking the real life physics would make this a really tough pen. Is that the case in WT land?

The Steel that the dozer is made of isn't even close to armour in metallurgy, so it obviously performs quite a bit worse than it's weight in actual RHA
