Planned economy changes

tables_d7ef803577a0f4b4dff61f816bc8d4bb.

In the recent economy update we reduced ammo cost for naval and high tier ground vehicle/aviation significantly. We will continue to gather your feedback and analyze the statistical data from our servers. Today we’d like to announce the next large economy update for War Thunder.

  • Repair cost reduction for non-premium event vehicles.

Non-premium vehicles that are obtained during our special in-game events differ from linear vehicles in the way you achieve it, and unique status, but doesn’t offer any economic advantages over them, which in some ways spoils the joy of gaining and owning these vehicles. Now all special event non-premium vehicles receive reduced repair costs, but continue without the additional income bonuses.

  • Reward changes for aircraft in tank Arcade battles.

During every tank AB session, there is intense aerial combat, but most of the aircraft are little or no threat for most ground vehicles. The SPAA combat role is to cover friendlies from attacks from above, but at the moment the reward that the SPAA receives doesn’t count the real threat of the aerial target for the teammates. As a result, players in SPAAGs do not have any reward for their immediate combat task. Also, destroying aerial targets gives more income to the player than killing ground targets, being a far easier and safer task at the same time. We decided to reduce the reward for downing or damaging air targets without mounted weapons by 60%, with mounted weapons, reduced by 20%. We have also reduced the repair costs for anti-aircraft vehicles.

  • Reduction of the maximum repair cost in Realistic battles.

We have corrected a mismatch where an incorrect reward ratio in the vehicle’s lifetime to its repair cost in RB mode, caused overstated repair costs.

  • Mounted/auxiliary armament cost change.

The cost of auxiliary weapons for surface vessels and aircraft have been revised. Low-efficiency equipment costs have been reduced (low calibre rockets, in the first place), highly effective armament now costs more (primarily, air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles). Learn more about the upcoming cost changes from this table.

Some good things:

- Making event vehicles cost less to repair. Hopefully in the future Gaijin also reconsiders on event vehicles being non-premium, but that's probably too much to ask.

Some meh things:

- Slight reduction in B-29 / Tu-4 repair cost.

Some bad things:

- Reduction in B-29 / Tu-4 earnings, offsetting the reduced repair costs.

Going forward, it may help to freeze the first two rows and first column to allow for easier legibility of the table. After a few hundred vehicles it tends to be somewhat disorienting to have to keep scrolling back up to reference which value I am looking at where, and having the specific category title always being pinned above the values listed would help tremendously with reliably interpreting the data, especially for values further down on the list.

Why on earth is 6.7 British Ground RB being increased so much? It was already unaffordable to play and now you're putting it thousands higher again.

Also basically every British vehicle went up in ground RB, despite recent changes making them all around less effective.

Overall the vehicles that I had a big issue with in terms of repair cost have all gone down, so I'm pretty happy about this update.

I just launched the game and didn't see the changes reflected, but I see nothing in the original post that states when these changes will be implemented, can we have some clarification on that please?

I honestly am so happy, HSTV-L now has 1500 SL lower repair cost, A-4B has 600 SL lower. My HSTV lineup has at least 2K SL lower repair from now which makes me quite happy.

Thanks for that.

Edit: I just saw SL multiplier of HSTV is reduced by 0.1, any reason on this one? I'm ok with it as it was done before (1.5-->1.4 and now 1.4-->1.3) but it is disappointing.

The fact that you still rely on computer to adjust the repair costs based on statistics, bankrupts the average player, which is your largest playerbase.

This game needs an economy overhaul, remove the repair cost, etc.

It is inadmissible to punish a player that grinds to top tier, researches the best MBT for example with 380k RP, then pay 1mil+ SL to buy it, then pay another 300k SL to train the crew(which is another thing that should be removed) and then punish him even more while he grinds the modifications, and when your tank is playable, boom die and pay 13k SL every death that is a given in a match where maybe you wont even get a kill with that said tank.

And yet the Me 262 A-2a, HMS Tiger, A-26C-45, KI-94-II, M24 TL, D.521, Tu-2. Rasmussens P-36, Strv m/39 TD, Maxim Gorky,  Po-2, and others I've missed are going up in repair cost.

Will this be fixed?

Well, Russia must be stomping hard; the T-80U now costs more than the 2a5. The T-72B '89 costs 9k stock now...oof.

Looks like NATO rep costs are going down across the board though which is nice.

T-72B3 only saw a 890 increase; a little below what I expected but not unusual for economy change updates I suppose.

So do i get that right?
You will get less RP for shooting down planes with anti air in tank AB? Why?
Then please tell us gaijin what gamemode and vehicles should we play to advance. First air SB got castrated, after that helicopter battles, now we cannot even develop our anti airs in AB? (We can with killing tanks, thanks, an AA like the Kökidösha or the FlakRakPz is so good against tanks.)

Other. Lowered weapon cost for ground attack ordnance in planes? Why? The MiG-21 can kill a dozen tanks with it's S-5K-s, and Isn't the Kamov with 80 S-8 and 12 Vikr OP already? I played a couple of battles in top tier, Kamovs with that "low-efficiency" S-8 killed 2-3 tank per heli before they get shot down but anti airs.

You can say, just some angry nerd, with the same "the game used to be good a couple of years back" narrative. But i enjoyed playing without that many bugs, and advance in battles where i played what i like. Maybe it is a little bit personal, because i loved playing in air SB and tank SB, and i like tank AB with anti air, because it's chill and i am fairly good in it. But now all of the talizmans i payed for can go down the toilet.
(Maybe i am disinterpretted it, which i would be happy about so much, but as i read it means that you will get less RP for a battle.)

@Stona You do remember that the G.55S is a premium right? The same premium that last patch got its br raised, the same premium that is now 12k SL.

Also you states "Now all special event non-premium vehicles receive reduced repair costs, but continue without the additional income bonuses." yet the price of the F11F-1 still sits at 18K SL stock repair cost.

The armament cost changes are nice, hopefully spawn points could be balanced in the same way, so helis with 16 missiles would cost more than the poor alouettes or gazelles with only 4 missiles :D

Each rocket/missile/bomb/cannon should cost a precise amount of spawn points.

Damn i,m happy  the F11 going down in repair costs (While still too high )Is still so very welcome .And the C2A1 going down too I broke me nuts grinding both of them out  even talismanned the  F11F1 and 2 days later ..they go up in  repair costs to stupid levels .

I also like the idea that event vehicles while not premium will have reduced repair costs compared to tech tree ones  its a nice touch and reward for grinding them out .Nice to see the top teir Leopards and STRV 121 and 122 coming down in repair costs too .

And I know people say  gitgud and you dont have to worry about repair costs .The likes of the  F11-F1 literally punished you for even taking it out  no matter what you did in a game if you died  your broke .

Overall liking the new economy changes .Will we be getting a BR change log too to compliment these like the last batch of changes.

Wirbelwind        1780    2300
Ostwind            14000    14000
Ostwind 2        21570    19150
Kugelblitz        25190    24290
Gepard            8670    7600
FlaRakPz 1        13000    9080
Flakpanzer I        260    220
Flakpanzer 38        410    540
Sd.Kfz. 6/2        890    500

How about if you FIRST reduce repair cost 3 years back and the REALLY reduce repair costs of German SPAA's.

You guys have raised repair costs of SPAA at least 3 years in the row and now you reduce income of the SPAA.

Please, do something about that plane system first on ABGF battles!
Read the ABGF section about SPAA and plane issues first and then bring solution for it!

Positives:

-Event vehicle cost reduction and some reduction to Swedish vehicles.

-Some armaments became cheaper

Negatives:

-Repairs overall seem to have gone up across all nations even if the increases are small (<1000 SL increases)

-The SPAA cost changes in particular make no sense. You're reducing the income by 20-60%, but many of the repair costs are either not moving at all (M19, Ostwind, Crusader AA), barely moving (M163, Wirbelwind) or even increasing (M42). The ones with very high repair costs are also not going down by any significant amount. Kugelblitz, for instance is down by a meager 5% and Coelian is at a similar number. Seems like a repeat of last year's heavy bomber economy nerfs and I won't be surprised if they keep going up in future updates.

-Heavy bombers get more expensive (as usual). B-29 and Tu-4 might be the exception, but as someone already pointed out it's at a cost.

-Japanese tier 4-5 planes keep going up. It makes no sense that the R2Y2 Kai V3 was increased to 20k and the V1 was reduced to 11k when they're pretty much identical

Really good to see the mighty mouse loadouts on top tier jets were reduced. Paying 7100 for rockets to ground pound was kinda ridiculous. I'd love to see the ability to edit what pods go on different hardpoints though. Or like the A-4B, have a loadout where you don't bring FULL rocket pods, but only a cluster in the middle, and AA missiles. Having rocket pods all the way out on the wings just weigh you down, since they're too hard to hit with, being offset

A mixed bag to be sure. Some very welcome changes, especially in relation to Swedish repair costs. Bombers got hammered, again. Some got reduced repair costs, but also had their earning potential hit hard to which essentially results in a net result of nothing changing. You pay less, but earn less  to offset it. The continued laziness surrounding bombers, and their place in the game is really grinding my gears now. So much time and effort, not just on the part of the players but the developers who had to model and program them. Just for them to languish in limbo, easy to kill and still don't have that measurable an impact on the flow of most games.

Big repair costs for German fighters though, some of them are getting really quite daft now with how expensive they are. There needs to be a "cap" if you will, for how much people pay in terms of repairs. Gaijins attempt to "balance" the game through repairs is a fools errand, but nobody seems to see it that way.

Changes to event vehicles are VERY welcome however, thank you. It's nice to know that they'll still be playable (given the insane time investment required to earn them in the first place) after the fiasco that was the F-11.

Heres my quick feedback. I've ignored things that are high but got reduced.

Air Arcade feedback

PV-2D: This is really creeping up to be way too high. I see you're reducing the reward multiplier, which is the right move. Can you do just that and not also increase the repair cost?

Bf-109K-4: Getting into the unpleasantly expensive range. Please reduce the reward multiplier instead of increasing the repair cost.

IL-28(german) I fail to see how this can possibly be 9.5k while the USSR IL-28s are both under 6k. Arcade is mixed teams so its not caused by what its allied with. Please come up with a system that hard locks this aircraft and the Russian version to the same stats.

Canberra B Mk 6: There is no way this should be close to twice the repair cost of the B-57B. Very similar planes but the B-57B gets more bombload.

A6M5 Otsu: Over twice the cost of the regular A6M5 for almost the same plane? This makes no sense, please fix the bug in the algorithm that causes this.

G.56: This is unplayably high repair costs. I'd rather a 1.0 reward multi, at least then you could take it out of the hanger.

Naval Realistic Feedback:

Pr.50: I fail to see how over 6k repair is justified for a ship that is strictly worse than a 4.0 destroyer.

Ikazuchi: Over 20k repair is crazy for this ship. It spawns with destroyers and is no match for one. Your only hope is to be top tier and even then its only an okay ship.

They are great news for those who play German, but I think it is extremely necessary to lower the repair of Maus, which besides being a little bad for his BR (falls against heatfs, APFSDS and even ATGM) I also think that there would be no need to increase the repair so much  TAM2C because he takes a hull break at any point, anyway it's great news

Are you really increasing the T26E1-1 repair cost with 1120 when its already unplayable at its br rating because any tiger or panther can one shot it and their costs only half of the Super Pershing. Are you kidding us? That is the good economy plan? There is much more repair cost increasing in the google sheet then decreasing!!!! Thats good??  @Stona
