Both P-47 "Razerbacks" are missing the armour plate behind the pilot

USA: P-47D-22 RE

UK: Thunderbolt 1

Screenshots showing no armor behind pilot:

The pilot manual is available online - eg https://mildepot.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/pilot__s_manual_for_republic_p-47_thunderbolt.pdf - the 1 manual covers all B-G models, and clearly shows a rear protective plate for the pilot - from Page 1:

The thickness is not given in that manual, but this video states that the manual being used in it states if is 3/8" - about 9.5mm.  Additional references and illustrations of the plate from original documents are at  5.25, 6.00 and again at 8.05 and 12:15

3 Pictures/diagrams of the amor plate can be seen at the  national museum of the US airforce  - https://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/Visit/Museum-Exhibits/Fact-Sheets/Display/Article/196667/p-47-armor-plate/

First is a diagram showing the position in a later P-47, then 2 pictures of plates themselves -
