Typical Problems & Questions of CDK Rookie Users ( creating their first Missions, Locations, Models ) - Answered by CDK Experts

Hello,

I am totally confused.o_o:008::dntknw:

If I load

"Wake Island" into the CDK mission editor, I just see blue water.

I reinstalled the CDK, I even switched to the newest release of 2020-04-20, no change.

If I watch the video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCb0sd3pfKk

, however, the video maker loads a map where the island is visible indeed.

I understand from a short glimpse to the Level editor, that a solution might be to decrease the water height with the level editor...

but as I started from scratch, I don´t see why I must change anything.

I didn´t find any clue from this forum, or by search engine....:crying:

I don´t think that I modified the game files at

C:\mypath\WarThunder\levels

so

wake_island.bin

is of 2018-10-11, probably the date of the first full installation on that computer, or last modification of the file by the game developers.

With other map file, everything looks ok, so I don´t see just water...

I understand that I have to press SPACE to switch the free motion camera of the editor, on and off.

Sincerely

Rolf

@hemmerling

Check your coordinates:

lfwn5pW.jpg

If it is still not there then that means you have a problem.

You can try to remove Wake Island map file from that levels folder and let the launcher download it again.

Indeed, the coordinates are totally wrong.

How to set the coordinates ?

Both in your screenshot and at my system, the coordinates are "grayed", means you can´t change it by clicking into the fields.

Even after deleting

wake_island.bin

and reinstallation by the launcher,

the coordinates do not change...

Click on the map view, then press the SPACE button and just "fly" to that point using WSAD keys, you can also make it faster by using SHIFT.

Thank you very much for your help.

Btw,

to get to x=0, y=0, z=0 easily is by the menu item "View / Load default layout"

,

else I totally failed, indeed. I got a huge z coordinate I was not able to clear...

Next questions:

The menu item "Help / Editor help" does not load a help file.

The menu item "Help / Plugin help" does not load a help file.

The menu item "Help / Tutorials" does not load a tutorial file.

( I know that a legacy Microsoft help file system does not work anymore as expected, maybe this old Win32 application is using it too?).

Any fix ( putting the help files on the windows PATH, or at special location in the WIN file system )?

Where is a key chart?

I realize

  • WASD ⇒ X,Z coordinates.
  • CE ⇒ Y coordinate

Where is a key chart?

Here: https://wiki.warthunder.com/Instructions_for_Using_the_Mission_Editor

Triggers are explained here:

https://wiki.warthunder.com/Triggers

Mission examples are explained in articles that start with Instructions for using the Mission Editor / and multiplayer missions in https://wiki.warthunder.com/Multiplayer_mission_creation, obviously there's more stuff, just check the first link yourself.

Thanks.

Next question:

At

https://live.warthunder.com/post/904509/en/

, a mission designer names the accepted nations and vehicles

Quote

List of units

Russia

}

a)

I know standard WT single missions  and special WT events, where also just special nations with some specific vehicles / planes / ships are accepted.

Is there no other way to name it in the mission description ( like this, or naming the official names of the vehicles )?

b)

As I did not have the proper vehicles in my preset,

the game does not load the main menu, by the error message “No available crews to choose”  :-(.

From standard WT single missions  and special WT events I think to remember that I can ALWAYS go to the main menu, but just that all my vehicles are "dark red" as they are not suitable.

Is this behaviour an error, or is there any other way to manage the wish "just to allow special vehicles" ?

c)

In oppossite,

http://live.warthunder.com/post/901996/en/

does not allow to leave the hangar, by the error message “Select one of the allowed vehicles”

What's the difference between b and c?

d)

How to get a complete list of ALL current vehicle names in the form, as provided by the mission designer?

I understand that I probably must add this list manually to the mission configuration file...

Where in the configuration file must the data be inserted?

e)

I played some missions as custom missions "by URL".

With this mission played "by URL",

https://live.warthunder.com/post/906059/en/

, I did not arrive in the main menu,

but I just see the scenario screen, with error messages

“Waiting for data from server”, “Waiting for data about the crew” :-(.

Repeatedly.

What can the mission designer do so wrong, so that this may happen?

Any fix, who`s fault is it?

Any comment on that?

f)

I played some missions as custom missions "by URL".

With some custom missions played "by URL",

I got into the main menu, but

then I got the error message "Crew is not ready" in a modal window, when selecting a vehicle in the main menu, for playing. By this, I was unable to start the battle.

When I called the mission frequently, this error message did not appear again, I was able to play the mission.

Any comment on that?

g)

JOKE

If I would design a mission just for swimming tanks, I would not use such a list of accepted vehicles :D,

as there is obviously a better technical solution just to let play swimming vehicles.....

either tanks or planes.:D

If I would design a mission with user-generated location just for swimming tanks, I would not use such a list of accepted vehicles :D,

as there is obviously a better technical solution just to let play swimming vehicles.....either tanks or planes.:D

h)

Most WT Live Missions can be played "by URL", and they are signed to be for multi players ( "MP" ).

Ok, I understand that you have to do special design to be able to let 2 human parties play a mission.

But can single-user missions be offered to be played by URL?

Example:

http://live.warthunder.com/post/904026/en/

Not "MP", can´t be played by "URL".

Hm... any feedback, suggestion why?
