Do the shrouded barrels on British MBTs actually hide their thermal signature?

As the title suggests, it just occurred to me that one of the effects of a barrel shroud is a reduced thermal signature, can anyone corroborate whether or not as to whether this is modelled in game?

thermal sleeves are for keeping the barrel at a consistent temperature to prevent thermal accretion/abetament caused by differences in temperature around the barrel when firing. Depending on the type of sleeve it might have a side effect of hiding it's thermal signature, but it's rather pointless to try and hide that, because when you engage, you will be spotted regardless, and if you don't the barrel isn't hotter than the surroundings, so it's already stealthy to thermal.
