Fleet

  • MBK 161 — “Bomb Mortar” modification has been moved to the default weaponry preset.
  • A bug in the ship’s visibility system which allowed ships to detect each other through non-transparent obstacles such as rocks or islands at long range (more than 10 km) in some cases has been fixed. 
  • Damage Model changes:
    • The damage model for damage caused by torpedoes has been fixed. In accordance with the historical experience of battles at sea, all larger ships can now survive several torpedo attacks depending on where they detonate on the ship’s hull. For example an explosion in the vicinity of the ammunition magazine will highly likely result in their detonation and contribute to the destruction of the ship. However hits in other parts of the hull will not be fatal if the ship is fully operational and whole and has a sufficient number of capable crew members.
    • The detonation of the ammunition magazine has been fixed. They were excessively vulnerable to kinetic damage and shrapnel and now magazines can withstand more hits. For the instantaneous detonation of magazines of a medium size, it will now require two direct hits with an AP shell of a calibre up to 152 mm. A direct hit by a heavier shell (180-203 mm) will cause the ammunition magazine to explode immediately. 
  •  Visual display:
    • The lack of visual representation of hits and shell explosions at long distances has been fixed.

Sounds

  • The frequency response of the audio mix, to achieve a more natural sound, has been adjusted.
  • Changes to the logic of limiting sound events to avoid non-sounding elements close to the listener have been made.
  • Unnecessary mechanical sounds from the player’s aircraft cannons in 1st person view (from cockpit) have been deleted. 

Other

  • A bug where while watching a player with thermal imaging turned on the viewer (spectator) could see the thermal image has been fixed. 
  • Excessive damage to bases caused by missiles in air battles has been fixed.
  • Volokolamsk - Has been removed from rotation in random ground battles.
  • Mission [Air Superiority] Afghanistan - Has been removed from rotation in air AB battles.
  • Mission [Operation] Boulogne-sur-Mer - Has been removed from rotation in air RB battles.
  • Hull break mechanics for the following vehicles are now possible with 100/105 mm HEAT shells (previously caused only by 120 mm and above HEAT shells):

I DON'T like this.... Why hive Hullbreak to a Tank with no other Survival Options with no Armor etc? SPG - OK. A Tank like a BMP - ok. But a Centauro o_o? Yea its "fast" and has firepower but beside that, even if a Wheel of the "Tank" gets a Hit with a HEAT Shell its a Hullbreak...... Completely unnecessary for the Centauro's in the current State of this Tanks Ingame. Would they be fast or even good Implemented with the Engine so they have Mobility - I would be fine whith the Hullbreak. But at the State Ingame atm.. NO Sir :s

nice changes,but please at least fix the m901 launcher jerking to reload after firing missiles bug first,before making it even more useless with hull break.

Holy crap I did not believe it would happen.

 

By the way - if Warrior is equipped with it's addon armor (designed to fend off HEAT projectiles) does it still get hullbroken? Cause that would be dumb.

 

Also the fact that M247 gets hull break is weird. Next up M48 gets hull break too? Might as well as it's turret armour is laughably thin and inaccurate

SIDAM MISTRAL,  AMX 30 DCA, FIAT 6614, Chieftain Marksman no hullbreak ?

 

The m247, Gepard and Chieftain use a MBT hull of RHA, shouldn't hull break in the first place. 

 

Thumbs up for removing Volokolamsk, had it tagged already so one more ban, dislike check to place.

I actually was one that "helped" remove Volokolamsk from rotation...i just wonder if devs know WHY?

(I am assuming it is a different reason for many)

 

In my case i never understood the "snow" mechanics for spotting. It always felt enemy tanks could fire trough "snow" hilltops and i couldn't. I could not hit them (they looked behind the crests to me) but they could fire back (and hit). It may be my mistake, but i tried a lot with usually bad results and it doesn't happen on other snow maps. So i removed it to avoid frustration.

I liked the map, the strategy elements and overall look...it was the actual "gameplay" that was getting on my nerves...(btw...i could see other players with same issue...and other that didn't seem to have it...it may be l2p, but not so clear cut)

Well, as the recent map rotations have shown, people appereantly dont like large maps.  I get 'Maginot Line' very rarely, and Fulda? I havent really seen Fulda much at all lately.  It makes me sad, knowing that this probably means we are going to get more short-range maps in the future, rather than large, actual tank engagement-size maps.

 

I hope I'm wrong, and the removal of Volokoslkamansk(?) is for a rebuild/rework.

Why would you remove Volokolamsk? Give us a reason at least, i myself like the map very much, we already lack snow beautiful maps.

On another note why didn't you remove Mozdok which is the worse map in the universe ??? There is not a game goes by that all players in ALL chat complain about map when it comes, i have yet to meet person that likes that map..

Boulogne and Afghanistan both, I can understand not having WWII era dogfights on them for obvious reasons, but both would suit Jet battles for the same reasons.

(That is assuming Boulogne was unpopular due to size/travel time, and WWII era vehicles on Afghan because it's about as realistic as fighting A6M2's over Berlin... :004_2: )

 

Again, I like Volokolamsk, always had fun battles on there. Is sad to see it go completely.

Hoping it can be re-added in a modified format in the future.

 

My honest problem with maps in WT is that, especially at certain BR's, map rotation can get a bit stagnant, and I fear removing maps from the rotation will make this worse.

Every time I climb into my Tiger H1 I am always immediately shipped off to Finland, I would sometimes kill for the occasional crack at breaking through to Moscow instead!

I agree, boulogne sur mer  was one of the few maps that makes sense for jet battles. It understandable why people voted for it because it was common to get that in rank 2-4 plane and many players would just quit before tha battle has even started. That's because majority of people playing low rank planes prefer quick battles with alot of dogfights. For superprops and jets is perfectly fine map.You could cross the channel with la9 in less than 5 minutes. It's one of the few maps where fuel management makes difference, It's also one of the few maps where you can apply some kind of real-life strategy, not just charge the center and exterminate each other.

 

Giving the people such kind of tool, where they can directly remove maps from the game without understanding their motives for not liking them is huge mistake. Right now china has 2 main maps in air RB rotations: zhengzhou and khalkin gol. They are not at all bad maps but when you have to play the same thing over and over again people would naturally start to dislike them. I would make a guess that those maps are among the most voted maps right now.

Could you clarify if this means SB ground battles as well, or just AB and RB?

 

I would personally be pretty sad to see Volokolamsk completely removed from SB...

So Gaijin, how much time and effort did you spend on figuring out the obvious? I can't help but feel that it would have been easier to listen to the players who've pointed this map out for years now.

Ah well- you've made the right decision in the end (for the moment, lets see how you "fix" the map) and now we have a spiffy new system that lets you Dev's know which maps the players dislike most! Congrats!

So seeing as hull break can be applied to specific parts of the vehicle why can the M247 still be hull broken by shooting it in the track? 

 

Additionally, if we're going off of the rules specified previously for hull break why doesn't the VFW and Wirbelwind have hull break? Their turrets are less than the specified value and the VFW can go open top
