Is the Shot L15A3 APDS round bugged?

I've noticed the last few days that the pen of this round is really inconsistent...

Full frontal shots will cut through 300mm of armour no problem, like a knife through butter, without fail. Excellent.

But almost a half dozen times now I've noticed if you shoot at tank where they basically have zero armour, the round does zero pen. 

Couple of days ago I put a shot into the side of a T10, flat onto its side, and zero pen.

Today and yesterday I shot Leo I's on the side and a couple of them just didn't pen at all. Just now I shot a leo I on the side and it took out its track but failed to do anything else. Didn't even pen the hull behind the track. 

What on earth is going on???

Am I the only one noticing this?

Two crew members sitting right behind the shot. But it was stopped by the track.

Here's the protection analysis of the Leo I, shooting square onto the track to get max pen value through it. Doesn't stop anything. Round just cuts right through no matter what angle.

As I said, this isn't the first time, I've had this APDS round hit the side skirts of Leo I's and other tanks and not pen. Seriously what the hell.

The joys of apds in game.

 

In the armour viewer you have the angle slightly of I believe it shouldn't matter really but gaijin physics,

I tried it from any and all angles and no matter what the track never absorbed the round like it did in game.

This happens to all bullets, it all depends on whether Gaijin wants a player to die or live, has nothing to do with penetration and armor.

After the shell hit the tracks it was deflected by the armor below the side sponsons before it actually hit the side armor.

This caused the shell to lose enough pen to fail against the side armor. Is that realistic? No, but thats the reason why it happened.
