What if Japan receives some outside help ?

Now top tier for Japan is pretty much Type 90 and maybe you can squeeze in the Type 89 since the rockets are powerful, but what if Japan had some help from South Korean with tanks like the K1 !? We "might" get another Type 90 at one point, or even the Type 10, but all the major nations already have 3-4 top tier tanks. I know it's kinda weird since at this point it's just a combination of Japanese & some American tanks but this could be an option...

I really doubt we can see South Korean vehicles in Japanese Tech Tree. I think the only thing that connects those two countries is fact, that they lie side by side in East Asia.

It's better than nothing for Japan to be honest, no matter how controversial some people may see it. I'm sure Korean players would just be happy to see their tanks in game.

Same as they will be happy to see them in American tech tree, where they fits better because they are close allies, right?

I think stona is right, its only a problem and there is still a lot of Japanese tank but with the slaughter of the new formula I frankly doubt the future of the tree

I'd be surprised if the Type 10 and Type 16 aren't already being considered and in development and perhaps Gaijoob is taking another look at the Type 90B after the back and forth discussion a while ago. Adding Korean vehicles might be unnecessary looking ahead.

I'm mad as hell to the point of not playing the game over Germany getting the Sea Hawk, can't imagine the results on the playerbase of adding stuff to nations that do have issues getting along.

They have this options for Japan give Type 90 three backups

Type 90B,

STC projects 3,4,6 i think that Japan still have and of course the First proto of Type 90.

Type 10 44t version and 48t version.

Type 16 proto and final version and with ERA blocks.

So we have like 10 tanks that could be added.

I asked a Korean from live wat thunder if he or she would be angry to see korean vehicles inside japanese tree and he/ she replied no, and even hope to see them in the japanese tree, so not everyone are against this idea i guess.

Anyway how about Royal Thai Army? But Thailand didn't really build as much as south Korea.

BTR-3E1. (Not sure if it is also licensed built in Thailand)

btr3e1_manager.jpg

AAPC, domestically made but still in prototype stage i think.

DTI+AAPC-39.jpg

And ofc the commando stingray but it going to make people angry for not adding in the US tree despite we are only country in the world to operate and maintenance this vehicle.

M60A3 TIFCS upgraded by Israeli company.

Or M60 wit Blazer ERA package.

M60+%E0%B8%95%E0%B8%B4%E0%B8%94%E0%B9%80

Thai M60 also fire Israeli ammunition like M426 which can pen 450mm of RHA at 2000 meter.

But RTA main battle tanks are actually T-84 Oplot-T. Specifically designed for the Thai requirements.

And VT-4

I love K1 tank, but there aren’t any relations between Japanese tanks, so it is impossible to add it in Japanese tree.(For example IDF tanks are placed on each countries that weapon have design relation)

I think:

K1 series tanks should place on US ground tree because it designed with Chrysler Defense.

K2 tank should place on US or German tree because it design based upon K1 / power pack produced by Germany.

VT-4 tank should place on USSR tree because Chinese tanks technology affected by them.

Also I hope that Gaijin release Type 90 TKX, Type 10 TKX, Type 10 tank, Type 16 MCV prototype and Type 16 MCV production for Japanese tree: they seems more fit for Japanese tree.

(This is pretty much a copy n paste from my old response to the same idea)

Putting a South Korean tank in the Japanese tree is not a very sensible option. It can actually receive quite a big backlash from the Asian community player base. (Kinda the same deal when the Canadian Commonwealth M4A5 RAM was given to the U.S tree when it should have been the U.K but worse) But, the K-1 Main Battle Tank is purely a modified M1 Abrams built by South Korea's own technology (Hyundai). Therefore, it shouldn't even belong to any other nation's tech tree to being with... Yes, it is true that Japan was close in relationship to Korea with the annexation from 1910-1945 to 1950 with a split North and South Korea. South Korea may be allied with the U.S like Japan but the far, desolate country makes it not a representative of NATO. Japan and South Korea may be very close countries but that doesn't necessarily mean that they are the same and should work together... If people really want to see Korean tanks ingame, they will need a viable tech tree of their own which will probably be very difficult to see happening in the near future.

Update- Now that Gaijin has recently added international tanks in other tech trees like the Argentinean TAM in the German tree and Israeli tanks in both the U.S and British trees, there could be more of a possibility now but I wouldn't count on it.

The TAM is in the German tree because it was designed partially by German engineers (the chassis is based on the Marder's). The Shot and Magach are in the British and US trees are in their respective trees because they're modifications to the Centurion and M48. You can clearly still see their origin point. So unless the K2 BP is a mod of a Type 10, then there is little chance to see something like that in the Japanese tree. Something like the Merkava in the British or American tree makes more sense because of their far greater military and strategic ties between Israel and those countries. The military link between SK and Japan are far more treacherous with far less cooperation going on.

The problem with Japan tier 7 is that once Japan gets type 16 and type 10 (IF they will ever be added) Japan will be the first nation in the game to run out of vehicle and after that the tree wont  get anything new for the rest of, well, God knows how long this game will last.

Im not holding my breath on prototype tanks tho because they are very unlikely to be added not only because we know nothing about them but also because they will be even worse than type 90. Sure you get better line up but are they competitive enough against t-80u or leo2a5? and i cant even imagine when T-90, leo2a6 or m1a2 are added, the STC will be quickly obsolete let alone the Type 90.

There are  2 options, either use some help from other nations located in the same region as Japan especially Thailand as i suggested b4 because of relationships of both nations during ww2,  OR keep Japan independent but Type 10 will be likely  the end of the tech tree, i dont think there is anything else u can do.

There are some other variants of the Type 90 that could be added like the late version, etc.

There is only one vaiant of  type 90 but it is just type 90 with dozer blade. But Type 90 is not as strong as it used to be so i don't see how it going to solve the problem with japanese tier 7 unless Gaijin buff the Type 90 mainly to its armor so it has the same or comparable  protection as other vehicles in the same rank and not having the exactly same armor as leopard 2a4 from rak 6, makes absolutely no sense why that is a thing.

But personally i do not having problem with japanese 10.0 because i simply don't play this BR to begin with.

I'm having great fun with 8.0 - 8.7 because of excellent line up japan has, so i rather see more vehicles for -9.0br than some modern MBTs with fictional armor tbh.

But with other nations recently got brand new rank 7 MBTs so i can perfectly understand why some japanese players don't think the same as me.

indeed, at the very least it would be somewhat insensitive. For that note it's a bit odd the Japanese tech tree's flag is the military flag, since the national flag of Japan during WW2 was also the same one we see today.

I'd imagine Thailand as a sub-tree of Japan would be interesting, SK and Israel could be both sub-trees of the USA, with SK getting some ROC premium vehicles.

You would unlock sub-trees much like you would helicopters, i.e. once you unlock a specific rank on the main tree you can now unlock new nations from it that you can incorporate into your lineup.

  • 3 weeks later...

This is a ATGM vehicle based on the Toyota Land Cruiser MX-01-56, have no idea what it is but it is using by Portuguese army.

2 more missiles can be seen on the back of the vehicle. What ATGM is this anyway ?

186ba57032-jpg.1272450

Another variant without windshield  but instead you get a MG3 in the front as secondary. The additional missiles also is stored differently on the side.

The vehicle should has a name but i couldn't find any information but photos of them.

This one is extremely interesting.  ''Terminator ATGM Anti-tank guided missile fitted on a remotely operated weapon station mounted on light tactical vehicle'' developed by Jordan.

There is also a center-mounted machine gun.

Regarding the chassis it uses, should be this one.

According to this video, he claimed that the chassis is based on a 4x4 Toyota truck.

The only thing I want to see in the game, is the Japanese Heavy tank Lineup. As it would be a really good asset to the tree. Yes they might have not the best pen or armor at some points. But the point is, adding in new additional heavy tanks for tier 1-3 (even tier 4-5 depending on how much information there is reguarding on the other Heavy tank prototypes), it will make japan a very unique country which has early heavy tanks on the standard tech tree. Which can make people even more interested in playing the japanese tanks, as they got the derpy looking vehicles in it and even useful vehicles. Which then Gaijin later on get earn more money from the tree and start actually care about it.

Well, yeah but we are trying to expand the tier 6 and 7, inter-war heavy tanks are not the option we are looking for.

There's plenty of domestic wheeled vehicles with ATGMs available, we don't need foreign models on a Japanese platform.

MMPM being one for example

Okay... 1st of all ! I was asking how the Japanese fans feel about the K1 since Japan is lacking at high tiers (at the moment) 2nd this was never about a whole mini tech-tree, I'm sure there's more stuff Japan can get, native or captured while still keeping it Japanese ! 3rd Who the heck wants to play in a Jeep with a rocket on top, that thing is gonna get rekt in seconds (get serious).
