Close Air Support in Ground RB: Updated Version Post-1.71

SPAA needs the same treatment as aircraft when it comes to spawn points.  If planes have to pay more SP for 'anti tank' ammo belts with majority AP rounds, do the same for SPAA.. ie if they want to play as AAA and load only HE/HEFI/HEI belts, give them a cheaper spawn cost.  Loading up with AP/HVAP/etc, you pay for it.

Dear Gaijin, it ain't cool that pilots can lock mavericks in 3rd person from the orbit of Jupiter.

If you gonna keep that bullsheet, at least make SPAA lock to be just as easy mode as it is for the pilots.

In actual combat, nobody tries to kill ground targets from the air until air superiority is achieved.  (Low + slow + loaded = VERY killable target!)  That being the case, why not change things around a bit such that air targets are the ones that give the best reward when killed?  This will make it less likely to have pilots ignoring each other while spawn camping the enemy ground spawns.

If there are so many tankers ready to leave for ground only that it would mess with queue times for mixed battles, then it really is overdue.  Queue times just now are usually less than a minute.

While we're at it, let's give SPAAs some stealth belts, so they can fire without announcing their position to the world!

Ground only would be a dumb, one dimensional camper fest in case of larger maps. On smaller, maze like ones it would be a car racing event, hello R3 and Co.

as opposed to getting obliterated loterally from the air
with a sniper you at least know (mostly) where they are aloowing you to avoid them
urban maps are in general quite fun for anything not a slow, armorless casemate

Fighters with CAS ordnance cost up to 625 -750 spawn points (downtier to uptier situation). You need quite a few kills, caps or assists to get this amount of sp. So if a team gets obliterated from the air it must have been obliterated on the ground first. There is no airpower possible without success on the ground before... So if you got the impression that your team gets obliterated from the air, its your own teams double failure.

or just rush cap, and get one or two kills or assist, before getting destroyed or just J-ing out
it only takes one plane to destroy an entire rush, or a team that is holding a cap

Yub, just taking a cap won't be enough to spawn CAS. You actually need 2-3 kills or some assists as well. In case you're +1 BR for that match it even takes alot more to get the neccessary 750 sp. 

 

If there are several enemy CASplanes up, this means everyone of these scored 3 ground kills or more before. Its totally up to any team to contain the amount of enemy air players. No kills - no spawn points - no air.

That's the beautiful part!  You wouldn't have to play tanks-only.  You would still have the mixed battles, where everyone that thinks like you would still be there.

You misunderstand—the splits would likely unbalance things such that Gaijin would feel they’d have to intervene (likely owing to sparse TO matchmaking) and that is especially where problems could be expected to arise.

 

As it stands, the urgency you continually imply about TO just isn’t there. Even three years ago we heard the game would die if TO wasn’t thrown in on an emergency basis...and yet here we are.

 

Events are TO’s best option, particularly given its population issues.

For a player to do that is laudable.

 

Rather than get angry at someone outplaying and defeating the enemy team like that, you ought to commend them for their talent and success.

If someone thinks there isn't a demand for tanks-only, then let's put it in and see!  I've been waiting for it ever since that poll Gaijin did a while back.  (And, honestly, fretting that maybe it showed too much demand and that was why it was why the results were not published.)

 

If there isn't enough demand for tanks-only, then adding it won't hurt anything.  There are plenty enough players to keep the mixed battle mode going as-is.

Though these theories of an anti-TO conspiracy are quite fanciful (and entertaining as a result), I have to point out that these conspiracy theories are also baseless and a simple look at the evidence proves it.
 

Despite big talk about TO and its popularity over the past few years, the truth is that support for it has been very, very limited. Player support has been measured as a matter of dozens—not hundreds and certainly not thousands. 
 

Perhaps thanks to their intense desire blinding them, TO advocates have badly overestimated their idea’s popularity. This has resulted in the posting of wild claims (such as the preposterous suggestion of an anti-TO conspiracy at Gaijin).

Another thread about CAS,      TOOOOO easy to spawn into CAS,     Toooooo easy to make kills,     Uptiers make CAS even deadlier - Jets against useless AAs.... 

 

Nothing will ever change, there are too many player who use planes and ground,      Ground only options - as Cat said - They ain't gonna change the Core of the game despite what a large amount of players want.      Sooooo this thread wont make a blind bit of difference to the game!

If you are looking to earn SL, do not use SPAA. 4 to 5 air kills and no death earns less then 2 tanks and you will at best be in the bottom 50% of your team. Lose a top tier SPAA like an ADATS and you might as well not shown up. Always been surprised by this as killing an aircraft seems harder then hitting a tank? Now you have to worry about even after killing a heli, like a Ka50 "target destroyed" it still flies and shoots and can kill you on the way down? Seems 17lbs of TNT (ADAT Missile) going off inside/next a Ka50 is just a flesh wound hahahahahaha
