[WIP] T-40/23mm

Hello everyone, today I want to introduce my project about the USSR light amphibious tank T-40/30

 

T-40 has early and later version with different armaments. The T-30 as well.

Before I have interest in this tank, I saw it was showed up in the Military Parade in Mosscow with gaijin.

But I have not found this interesting tank in game, so I have tried to do some searching about this tank and to start a progress about 3D modeling.

It's quiet hard for a collage student, esspecially a forigner to do searching work, you know china have firewall to forbid mainland user using google or some out-wall pages.

Maybe the progress are little slow but I will insist on this progress!

 

So next is the brief about this awesome tank.

 

T-40 Light amphibious tank

 

 

The T-40 logically followed up on the interwar T-38 and T-37A, both based on the 1930’s Vickers amphibious tankette.

At the end of 1938, the special Research Department of factory No.37. under Chief Engineer N.A.Astrov, was tasked with coming up with a better overall design.

The result was indeed an improvement in every direction. However, when it entered production in 1940, things took a different course.

In the summer of 1941, after the German invasion, decisions had to be made to rationalize tank production and, since the T-40 was more complicated than a standard light tank,

it was eliminated and the program terminated, which explains the small quantities delivered. No amphibious tank would be designed in the USSR before 1949 (ASU-76).

• some turret had been removed, changed to BM-8-24.

• Tank 010: Maybe the prototype of this series.
• T-40: Base amphibious tank.
• T-40S: Land-only T-40.
• T-40 C2V: Command Vehicle with 71-TK-3 radio sets.(I haven't found some detail about this one)
• T-30S: Up-armored T-40 with 15mm armor protection.
• T-40 "Katyusha"

So my plan is make one T-40S later version with TNSh first. You know if you had one tank can run on the ground, other version is more easier.

 

What I will do next:

 

1. Modeling the tank T-40S with TNSh.(Work in progress)
2. Animation.
3. Texturing.
4. Put the model into warthunder and test.
5. If possible do other version of this tank.

For study no time to continue, but I have a new plan for another interesting LVT of china.

T-40's plan now delayed, until I finish the university and the new plan vehicle.

Need help with the source and data about the 23mm cannon T-40.

I think it's better to model since It's a prototype.

ammo carried 153 rounds

Elevation -5°/+27°

 

here is a photo of the gun

 

according to this articles, which the author is often accurate and sourced and that make him credible, the gun was feed with 9 rounds magazine and was first of all an aircraft auto-cannon. it appear it was the same gun as the I-301
