Standalone Swedish Ground forces tree

Great news everyone, we have a new vehicle, this one was found by forum user Private_Volk in a 1947 Bofors Catalog.

This is the 57 mm L60 fältautomatkanon m/45 and it was one of a bunch of different 40 mm L60 replacements developed by Bofors in the 1940's. Apparently they have a picture of it at the Bofors museum.

As of right now we dont know much more than what i have written above but we will try and do some digging for it in the archives.

Hi! Just wondering did 1 Strv 104 had a 12cm L/44 Rheinmetall?

And some people have claimed that Sweden will come next year to War Thunder. Anything you know about?

Yep at least one Strv 104 was fitted with a 12cm L/44 gun in the 90's to serve as a mobile gun platform for testing various ammunition for the Strv 121 & 122. I have included it as a potential premium in my tree.

As for Sweden making it onto War Thunder, its certainly possible but i have no cancrete information on if its going to happen or not. I hope that answered your questions.

Thanks for answer about the Strv 104 with the 120mm Gun! Would be a cool premium to the tree!

There is rumors that Sweden will come this year. Some people have claimed it and Gaijn have answer this in a Russian Q&A translated from Russian. 2-3 months ago.
Q. When will the Swedish or the Chinese nation be in the game. Approximately this year or in the Following.

A. More likely in the following.

So maybe we will see Sweden this year or next year.

And the last question about the information about the tanks. Are all the information about the tanks correct to 100% ?

Hon know the hp/t, speed and all the information.

The information posted here is the best info i have available right now (mostly taken from original source documents from the swedish archives) and should be as close to 100% accurate as possible for most if not all of the vehicles i have listed. There are some exceptions though such as the Landsverk-Unimog armored car since i lack a good first hand source (other than a original drawing for it) so in this particular case most of the info has been taken from online sources and is also incomplete.

I have created several separate suggestion threads which go into more detail on specific vehicles and list more sources which you can find if you search for them here under the other suggestions section.

Just thought I'd suggest some more vehicles you could add to the tree in case you haven't considered them already.

L-60 - The first version with a 20mm Bofors initially designed by Landsverk before the army requested them to be rearmed with the 37mm gun.

7.5cm provisorisk stormpjäs - The vehicle from your blog with the open fighting position. I think it would be nice in rank 1 at a lower BR before the 75mm Sav m/43. You could merge both vehicles into the same slot to have them fit into the tree.

Stormartilleripjäs fm/43 and trätoffelvagnen - I don't see any reason to not include a 150mm spg into the main tree with the Sturmpanzer and Ho-Ri already in the game. 1 could be placed into the tree in rank 2 with the other in the same rank as a premium vehicle. The more the merrier.

More Lago prototypes - I find it odd there's only 1 listed in the tree when there's so many variations of the Lago that could be used. I can think of atleast 3 possibilites. The initial vehicle armed with the 37mm and the initial engine arrangement for rank 1. The later version with the same gun but the engine arrangements of Stridsvagn m/42 at rank 2. Finally the version that was testfitted with the 57mm could also be included in either rank 2 or early rank 3.

Stridsvagn fm/43 (tracks) and (wheels) - Since it had the technical capability to run both on tracks and wheels, I think it would be interesting to include 2 versions of the vehicle each using a seperate mode of propulsion. Using the wheels would offer a higher topspeed, but worse off-road performance and a slightly taller hull on the vehicle compared to using the tracks.

Stridsvagn 105 - Rank 5 or 6 premium.

Bandkanon 1 - Just do it.

On another note, I find it a bit odd there's so many premium vehicles in the tree. If you look at the other in-game tree of its size the premium vehicle ratio is much higher and I think that's a real shame as they can be used to flesh out the tree more instead. Particularly egregious examples I think are Pansarbil m/39 and Pvkv III.

Pansarbil m/39 being Swedens most successful and widely produced armoured car belongs in the main tree and not locked away as a Premium vehicle since its a production vehicle, as far as I'm concerned. It would be like locking away the Puma or any of the other armoured cars in the game as premiums. They are too widely used for that. Especially when there's already a vehicle that would make for an excellent premium variant of it, that being Pansarbil m/40 with the Danish armament.

As for Pvkv III, making both that and Värjan premium means essentially locking away both of the only 2 vehicles armed with the 57mm in the tree. I think it's a real shame to lock an entire gun away behind a paywall when there's space to both put 1 in the main tree and keep the other as a premium.

I would also suggest moving Stridsvagn 74 to Rank 3 instead. Performance wise it's closer to a PZIV than any Rank 4 vehicles currently in-game. Penetration with APBC is very close, the armour protection is thinner, it's marginally faster and the only real justification for a significant BR increase would be the APDS shell, but I still wouldn't move it any higher than 5.0 like the Comet. That still very much so makes it Rank 3 material to me.

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on these suggestions.

I'm interested as to why the Strv 74 is in the light tank line and not the medium. Because of the turret armor? There are two blueprint tanks from Landsverk you may want to research: the Leo and the Lassen. They could fit into the Rank III-IV area for the medium and light trees, respectively. As far as tank destroyers go, I'd replace the XX 20 with the UDES 15/16 and the Strv 2000 140. Speaking of, the Strv 2000 140/40 could go in the medium tank line as a 10.0 below the Strv 122 (seeing as the Leo 2A5 is now being added). Also to note: a variant of the CV 90, the Strf 9040/56, did carry ATGMs and powerful ones at that. Also maybe be a bit more selective with the AA. Sorry if this is all sounding very critical, but I came across this while researching my own idea of a Swedish tree.

Gaijin won't accept blueprint vehicles, so I'm afraid most of your suggestions aren't really that helpful. I also don't understand why you'd want to replace a tank destroyer with medium tanks. If the unusual chassi proves a problem for the game then the UDES 19 variants would be a much better choice (ideally we get all 3 though). The 9040/56 is already included.

On the swedish tank museum Arsenalen i found this poster that shows all of swedens armoured vehicles during the time.  (All of these vehicles range from test vehicles to produced and used ones, Think its a good way to show how much the Swedish tree has

I could see the Lago tank prototype with the 47mm gun and the 57mm gun in the tree.

And i wonder about the Strv M/42 HEAT Shell. Since i think the Strv M/42 should be around rank 2.7 or 3.0. Depends on the Penetration of the HEAT Shell.

I don't think the Lago ever mounted a 47mm gun. I'm not sure why he has listed it as having one. From what I know, it was intended to mount a Hungarian 40mm gun, because that's who it was built for. But as the Hungarians dropped out and lost interest, it had a 37mm Swedish gun mounted instead as that was what was available to test it with.

It could have 2 or 3 versions as far as I can tell. There's the initial version with the 37mm gun, at some point they tried mounting a 57mm AT gun on it and it also had 2 different engine setups it used. That should make for 2 or 3 possible vehicles from the Lago alone.

Atleast 2 version maybe 3. But the good part is that we have the Pvkv IV Värjan with a 57 mm gun and the Pvkv III. Atleast we have some good tanks with a 57mm gun.

Q. Sweden had a lot of interesting vehicles, especially ground vehicles. Should we wait for this nation to be added to the game?

A. We see Sweden as one of the candidates to be added as a new game nation.

It seems that Gaijin is planning to add Sweden in the future. Hopefully they take a look at this particular suggestion.

Makes me wonder what other nations made the short list of candidates, but I definitely hope for Sweden soon.
