Given the history of Schräge Musik..........

Today, I would like to suggest adding more aircraft variants featuring "Schrage Musik"*:

I support all of them except:

  • the P-80s because they don't have any forward facing armament and a jet like this would be completely useless.
  • the Fw 190 because those are clearly not guns, these pods are way too small to even fit a small SMG in there. They might be some kind of single-shot launchers for incendiary grenades against bombers or something similar.
  • the Me 262B because it was never built
  • the P.1099B because it was never built
  • the Tu-2Sh because although these are a total of 88 guns, they are only sub-machine guns (PPSH-41s to be exact) and all of them only have 71 rounds at 900 RPM (about 5 sec fire time). The 7.62x25mm Tokarev is a small pistol round with roughly 430 m/s velocity. Even with all 88 guns firing, it would only give you a "Hit" on an enemy bomber and do absolutely no damage whatsoever with WT's damage model. Not to mention that these rounds have a ridiculously low effective range (50m) and by the time you have lined up your Tu-2 above an enemy bomber within range of your guns, you'd have more holes in your airframe than guns on your aircraft. This thing was designed to kill enemy infantry, not bombers.

EDIT: I found another possible german candidate for 1.0

P-80A (S) -- they could just make it as unhistorical as the Panther II mounting six M2 Brownings in addition to the Schrage Musik guns and make it Premium (or any of the other half-dozen ways they could introduce it as a "rare" vehicle).

Tu-2Sh + 88 x PPSh-41 -- There where four other variants of this that could be added mounting either 2 x NS-37s, 2 x NS-45s, a 57mm gun, or a 76.2mm gun. And given your argument of how pointless the 88 guns in the bombay are, it might as well be added as a novelty vehicle.

What aircraft is that in the picture?

If it gets added as an extremely rare event vehicle (in roughly the same quantity as the E-100) then maybe, but only because seeing a jet with schräge Musik is something truly unique. It would partly be a paper aircraft and I'm generally against all of these but since it's just a P-80 with extra guns I'm not completely against it.

Yeah I know, i just finished my book on the Tu-2 and I'm currently working on a suggestion for the Tu-2 RShR-57 (the one with the 57mm AT-gun). There's very little documentation about these prototypes however and finding reliable data on them is extremely hard. AFAIK the one with the 76.2mm didn't even take off due to the massive recoil which the airframe couldn't handle (they fired the gun on the ground). For the other prototype(s):

see that little "and" there? It carried both the 2x 37mm and 2x 45mm simultaneously, those weren't separate "loadouts".

I honestly have no clue. I just saw it in some reddit post and thought it'd be funny to add this here. Think it was some older German aircraft somewhere between 1915 - 1920 though so not in the timeframe for WT anyway (my guess would be some German WW1 recon aircraft back in the day when the first French/British fighters were being used, some German navigator made himself a mount of 10 Mauser C96 to fend them off before they got proper MG mounts). Those aren't even schräge Musik guns, just some makeshift mount against enemy fighters and with the current overall DM i doubt that this gun could even damage an I-15.

The Panther II was "created" by Gaijin in a time where tanks to model in this Tier were baisically non existend because the time frame was limited to around 1951. Since the Germans had no tanks exept the jagdtiger in this BR field, the Panther II and the Tiger II 105 were introduced. But in the US early Jet era I se neither a lack of planes nor that this plane would be a neccessary or useful addition

Noted. Though it would still be nice to have it for the novelty factor xD

P.S. removed and re-added the J1N1-Sa because I confused the J1N1 ingame with the one I'm suggesting (data on last 5 poll choices skewed a bit).

The Beaufighter Mk.V doesn't have Schräge Musik as it was a Boulton Paul turret and not fixed weapons. That would be like classing the Halifax as having Schräge Musik.
