Shatterfish 587 Report post Posted January 29, 2018 Question to anyone who might have the answer: How do you increase the range at which your tanks rangefidning ability drops off? Some tanks only go out to >904, while others go out to >1064. Is this a crew skill point thing, or is it simply a fixed distance based on the tank and it's optics? Senior Game Master Schindibee 2,857 Report post Posted January 29, 2018 It's the crew skill. Just check the skill, and when hovering over the parameter you see what it does. With a fully maxed crew the rangefinding works up to 1200m - that can make quite some difference! = ) 1
[email protected] 460 Report post Posted January 29, 2018 Dude after 12000 battles why do you even need a rangefinder, the biggest problem at long range is keeping those shaking hands steady on the mouse as you anticipate the puzzlement and rage your opponent will endure when they get shot perfectly thru the lfp at 3000 meters. Because even after 12,000 battles, using the rangefinder and adjusting the barrel garuntees a hit on a stationary target, and makes hitting a moving target easier when you can take one of the guesstimating factors out. Frankly, if you aren't using the rangefinder and barrel adjustment method, if I face you in battle I'll get my shot off first every time, and I'll wipe the floor with you. 2 hours ago, Schindibee said: It's the crew skill. Plus it allows for a quicker and easier shot on target. Goes double for tanks with a long reload or a low velocity/steep drop shell. Perilum 80 Report post Posted January 30, 2018 Some tanks like the Panther 2 have Rangefinder extensions. The basic skill is crew.

Not if you remember the number. There are few key sniping positions, most ranging between 800 and 1300 meters, or ~2000m from one end of sinai to another. If you know those, you can shoot accurately with any tank. You have the aiming reticle with range indicators for a reason. Also the rangefinder (from my experience at least) is a bit iffy. It's almost always 50m farther than it indicates (this is especially tricky if you adjust your cannon to shoot at a specified range rather than finding that range manually using the aiming reticle)
