[News]Planned changes in Clan-battles

Q_A_366359b813b6569da43bbad6edb02779.png

Dear players,

Using the rules of squadron battles where you can utilise any available vehicle (up to rank 4) - of course it makes sense that players will only use the most efficient and high-rank machines. Thus squadron battles are not as diverse as they could be and any possible tactics are limited. We decided to bring more variety whilst keeping the balance.

What we are planning to do - primarily we will use the BR system instead of ranks, we will also allow any vehicles to be used with the maximum available BR being increased throughout the season of  the squadron battles. Thus we will unlock some of the more interesting vehicles and at the same time players who have not yet researched top rank machines will still be able to participate. The commanders will be able to implement a variety of tactics and the players will be able to join the battles with their favourite vehicles.

The next season will be conducted according to these experimental rules and we will watch the resuts closely whilst taking part in these highly competitive battles ourselves.

  • Here’s the season’s schedule:
  • Weeks 1 and 2 max BR 6.0 (01.11 — 14.11)
  • Weeks 3 and 4 max BR 7.0 (15.11 — 28.11)
  • Weeks 5 and 6 max BR 8.0 (29.11 — 12.12)
  • Week 7 and till the end of the season max BR 9.0 (13.12 — 31.12)

These rules will apply to both Arcade and Realistic modes

Imo you are excluding alot of the playerbase from playing sqb. I fully support the whole br change pr 2 weeks, but i think going up into top tier with the gamemode is not the best move. Yes, maybe it will encourage some people to grind up to 8.0, but for alot of people this would make them not want to play the gamemode. It could possibly kill it.

I am however interested in playing 8.0/9.0 squadron battles, and i think it would be alot of fun. It would also render alternate accounts relatively useless, and would make for a more interesting competitive atmosphere. But queue times would be terrible towards the end of the season.

That's it.

I was a big fan of changing Squadron Battle rules to have more diversity, and I made several suggestion to allow vehicles up to tier I, the II, the III and so on (or BR 1.0, BR 2.0, BR 3.0...) divided in weeks, so that more player could enjoy the competition.

But this is the worse of the worse. If these changes are implemented, I will not play Squadron Battles anymore. And so will 75% of my squadron, who do not own tier V and VI vehicles.

I do have such vehicles, but I largely never used them since I'm not interested in post-ww2 garbage.

I really really really hope they AT LEAST reverse the decision, if not implement a schedule that runs from tier 1 upwards. That's the only way to have more diversity and more players enjoy SB.

This will only kill it.

Most players dont even have 9.0 yet, 8.0/9.0 tanks will not be close to aced. this will become a pay premium to grind and to get the tanks/crews thing. not too excited

You can still farm all your points within the first 4-6 weeks... Nothing will change except queue times by the end of the season. :D

I Have more games of war thunder than anyone I can think of and I would still have to do some grinding to have the vehicles I would need for the second half of the season.

How will that affect newer players trying to come into the game mode, I'm all for more diversity but this throws up a massive barrier to the game mode the the majority of the players.

I don't think that can be a good thing.

I cant imagine the queue times.

I realise gajin have split themselves too much with what they are focusing on and this might just be a way of having the game mode die out faster.

If that is the goal just have to conviction to make that decision. Announce sqb will be replaced in entirety by tournaments and ww mode.

I wouldnt even mind that.

this is just an odd move, I doubt it will help the game mode, but also makes it seem like they're still looking at it.

33k games, no spaded vehicles for these, the grind in this game ohmygosh

If this changes will be effective... well sorry but i will stop playing SB (maybe just the first 2 weeks) and maybe even the game as the main reason that i was playing was to have a laugh with members from my squad during SB and challenge other teams.

I don't have the time to grind every single jet, every single tank in the game, hell the cost to research the era V tanks is way too high and the time it takes endless!

This should be the season’s schedule:

  • Weeks 1 and 2 max BR 2.3 (01.11 — 14.11)
  • Weeks 3 and 4 max BR 3.7 (15.11 — 28.11)
  • Weeks 5 and 6 max BR 5.3 (29.11 — 12.12)
  • Week 7 and till the end of the season max BR 6.7 (13.12 — 31.12)

...and yes, max 6.7, without that pay to win machine called IS-6!

While I think the BR based system would be good, the way it's implemented is terrible. Most of the squadrons who are consistantly in the top, (TYT, PVVD, etc) will have people who can play in the last weeks, but a lot of casual squadrons like my friends in AOD will struggle to make teams at the end of the season. This discourages newcomers to the game mode and makes playing it more difficult for those who do play it.

big up for finally trying to change how Squadron Battles work!

Surely this isn't a final solution, so this are my suggestions(i'm talking about RB in particular, since it's what my squadron participate at):

-as others have already said, 9.0 is almost pointless because of the lack of players that owns those vehicles and because of the poor balance that usually occurs in 9.0 matches. As a solution i would use 5.0 instead;

-I would separate each "session" (with session I mean every couple of week with a fixed BR) so every squadron has to participate in each one of them if it wants to aim at the first positions. I'll try to explain better: at the end of Session 1(=week 1 and 2, max BR 6.0) every squadron will earn a certain amount of points for the season ranking due to its position in the session ranking(session 1). On the first day of Session 2(=week 3 and 4, max BR 7.0) every squadron will start again from zero in the session ranking. At the end of Session 2 it will get another amount of points for the season ranking due to its position in the session ranking(session 2), which will be added to the ones earned at the end of Session 1. Then you continue to assign points in this way until the end of the season. In this way each squadron is stimulated to play every session in order to get more points in the season ranking, which will be used to assign the final prizes to the Top "X" squadrons.

Nothing changes, at the meeting we clearly said that we have to lower the requirements to start the game in SQB. Today, BR 6.0 on tanks and airplanes is still too much for new players and will change nothing.
Get down to the requirements of BR 4.0, encourage new players with cool prizes (Top 20 Squadron top 1 gets in 2 months and 2k points only 1200 gold - this is a joke) (GE wager 1500 to do in 4 hours).

In fact, to encourage people to play SQB need to fix disconnect, crash game when the game start, people do not like to lose 32 points out of their own fault and give some more interesting rewards than funny wings and flames + gold coins.

The concept itself was great and we discussed it at the meeting, the pity that it came out in still unchanging form.

Gaijin,

Since you began with Squadron Battle mode, less and less squadrons are still active and less players are playing it. Do you want to completely kill the game mode???

Is it a joke??

Lower the BR requirements and let new players play. Try to attract new squadrons to play the game mode.

The War Thunder Team

Absolute crap, who had this brain f a r t of an idea. well done, you just ruined squadron battles. Don't know who made these changes bro, but they suck. you have just excluded half of warthunder players from doing sqb, half my squadron have only just managed to get to T4 tanks, now you'r doing this. what a bad joke. Also other squadrons are not happy. You need to think about people who don't have top tier, higher br vehicles, you have just upset a chunk load of people and i can see them leaving. stupid, stupid idea. You state that that lower tier, br vehicles can go against higher Tier and br vehicles, yeah right.
