Fwd: Oct/18/2017 Archer incorrect reload rate

As you might now know, I kinda have a soft spot for the Archer, I've played it since day 1 and was quite saddened to see how its reload rate got constantly increased from 4.9 to 5.9 until its actual rate of 6.9s. I understand that self propelled guns are quite difficult vehicle to balance and as such reload rate might be a parameter to adjust this, but I find it to be a pretty sad situation where the Archer has now the worst reload rate from all the 17pdr armed vehicles when it should be the other way around, as such I hope that this bug report will rendre this unusual vehicle more appealing to play. :)

  • The full name of the vehicle affected. If the problem is isolated to one difficulty setting (e.g. Simulator), specify which.

SP. 17pdr Valentine/Archer

  • A detailed description of the issue you have or what you see as being erroneous regarding its representation in-game.

The actual reload rate ( 6.9 s/8.7 RPM ) for the Archer is incorrect.

  • A detailed description of the fix you suggest. Provide sources including reference that underline your position. This is up to the discretion of the Technical Moderator handling the report, however the number of sources required depends on the type of source presented:

Change the actual reload rate from 6.9 s ==> 4.7 s ( 12.76 round per minute )

  • User Manual / Repair Manual / Factory Manual etc - Historically acknowledged reference sources - single source required

Edit: I added more pages from the trial to substantiate the bug report.

The Archer has 3 ammo bin, of which one is only considered as a refilling bin ( the one situated on the right hand side of the driver )  meaning that the reload rate was recorded for the 2 bins next to the loader.

The reload rate for the bin A was recorded in between 3.4s <===> and 6.9s averaging a reload rate of 5s.

The reload rate for the bin B was recorded in between 3.3s <===> and 6.9s averaging a reload rate of just under 4.5s.

Hello @FuryMkI,

Do you have any additional sources you could add to back up the document you provided?  Reports such as that are kind of in a grey area between manuals and authored works.  Anything additional could help, such as giving an aimed rate of fire for the vehicle, etc.  Just want to check and make sure before I process and forward the report.

Regards

Conraire

Sadly I don't have more source other than this one related to the Archer's reload rate and I am not even sure that it would be possible to find anything else about it, it just seems that the Brits weren't fond to describe "rate of fire" in their documents, I have yet to find british documents describing rate of fire other than for my previous bug report, the Tortoise, which was the only vehicle with such number on more than a hundred listed in this book..., still I edited my bug report by adding more pages from the trial.

Understood, and I remember the difficulty finding Rates of Fire for US guns as well.  So I know how that can go.  I'll forward it with what you have so far.

Thanks a lot :good: Yes, at least I've seen rate of fire mentioned in some US vehicles manuals, but for the Brits it just seems nowhere to be found, similarly to turret traverse rate, to find such data you need to dig into more specific documents like this trial, but it just seems impossible to find in more "general" manual.

Well at least now the devs have something to work with, it'll always be useful to them I think, for example if they plan to work on a more complex reload rate system...
