So it is very important to the Developers!...... Hijack over:- Pacci ^^

The Weekly Rumor Summary(24.03.2017)

Answers from developers

This week we received a new collection of answers from the developers. We learned nothing fundamental new. Another confirmation for the T-55, Italy and France are still being worked on. The only new thing we learned is that the developers plan to add anti-aircraft machine guns for already modeled mounts on Japanese tanks. So in the future you will be able to shoot at aircraft that don't try to headbutt you.

Custom user missions competition (link)

Technically not a rumor, but I hope it will lead to new missions, mechanics and this post would be awful short without it.

By using the mission editor from the War Thunder CDK, creators will be tasked with creating a multiplayer PvP mission (16vs16) on any game location. Choose any game mode, whether it be a battle inside a restricted area or the defense of an allied convoy of ground vehicles. You can even add AI and use them to heat up the battle. At your disposal you will find both ground vehicles and aircraft. Your ultimate goal: Interesting, exciting, and balanced battle between two teams.

1.67 Unofficial Patch Notes by _mike10d

Three days ago _mike10d released his first unofficial patch notes for 1.67. Lots of changes. Some small like Finland tank: Battle area changed (large box → cylinder) and some a little bigger like Game limits: maxAircrafts: 255 → 1024. And no that doesn't mean 1024 players, only 1024 aircraft in the air. Take a look you may find things you should have noticed a week ago.

The Weekly Rumor Summary (17.03.2017)

Spoiler

Ilyushin DB-3A (CDK find)

In 1.67 we got the DB-3B as a new Russian bomber. In the CDK however, we can see that there is a DB-3A. The predecessor of the 3B version.

The difference is the engine. The A version was equipped with a Tumansky M-86  wich offered 10 Hp more power compared with the M-87A of the DB-3B, wich in turn it had had better high-altitude performance.

Lincoln B Mk I (CDK find)

Similar to the DB-3 the Lincoln B Mk I differs from the Mark II in the engines installed. It had four  Rolls-Royce Merlin 85 engines with two-stage superchargers with 1,750 hp (1,305 kW) each.

T-55 (Q&A)

The T-55 was the sum of all the modifications applied to the previous T-54 series, with several differences which made a clear distinction from the previous model. One of these was NBC protection and a brand new engine. T-54s were modernized over time to the T-55 standard, leading to a nearly indistinguishable “T-54/55” generic type. The T-55 was fitted with the new V-55 12-cylinder 4-stroke one-chamber 38.88 liter water-cooled diesel engine (589 hp). The main gun was basically unchanged. New ammunition had been developed, like the BK5M HEAT rounds which could penetrate 390 millimeters (15 in) of armor. In the early 1970s the need for additional firepower dictated the return of the Uralvagonzavod DShK 1938/46 or KPVT AA 12.7 mm (0.5 in) heavy machine gun on the gunner\’s cupola. This upgrade was sometimes called “model 1970”

Developers Q&A since 1.65:

Spoiler

Aircraft

Will there be more turboprop aircraft in the game? The Piper Enforcer in particular would be great.

«

The Westland Wyvern turboprop aircraft is already in the game, and we haven’t ruled out adding other vehicles with a similar powertrain.

There is still an issue with notifying the player about penetration of aircraft missiles, as well as the missile type (HEAT or high-explosive, for example) and the quantity of explosives they contain. Is this going to be fixed?

«

This is valuable information. I agree that this is an issue. It should be added to the card.

You’ve been promising tech trees for Italy and France for a long time. Are these still in the works? Can we expect one of the trees to be added this year?

«

We’re working on it. Keep an eye on our news.

Could you add American jet-powered bombers, i.e. bombers with American roots? The turbojet bombers currently in the US tech tree are more British than American, which is strange because the US had its own turbojet vehicles, such as the various modifications of the B-45.

«

This isn’t going to happen in the near future. But the B-45 is an interesting aircraft, and I won’t exclude the possibility of it appearing in the game, not least because it has a defensive turret, which the B-57 lacks.

Ground Forces

Why is the survivability of tracks so high? They don’t even have steel armor, so they should break after being pierced and hit by explosive shells. Tracks currently last an unrealistically long time, for a suspiciously high number of shell hits, and it doesn’t result in the damage expected (breakage).

«

Tread durability in the game is based on 1 or maximum 2 hits by shells from a tank of the same tier. Could you provide an example of tracks surviving more hits than this without consequences?

We have two Leopard modifications, two M60 modifications, and two versions of Japanese STB. It looks like the Chieftain’s getting another modification. But what about the T-62? Is it going to get another modification?

«

We regularly add modifications for a single tank in the same era with similar BR when there isn’t a comparable vehicle of another model in terms of battle characteristics. In this case, there is no need for another modification of the T-62, but we do have the T-55 in the pipeline, which is equipped with a stabilizer.

This question is about machine guns on Japanese tanks. Historically, the Japanese did not have twinned machine guns, only frontal and auxiliary guns. Would it be possible to make an exception and issue anti-aircraft guns across the board (the 3D model exists for the howitzer) for the already modeled mounts?

«

Yes, we plan to add anti-aircraft machine guns for these mounts, based on these same considerations.

Will there be heterogeneous (mixed) armor in the game?

«

We haven’t ruled it out. The problem with this type of armor is that it’s not entirely clear how distinct the modifiers would need to be for different countries and tanks, since this armor was used in various countries.

Other

Do the dimensions of aircraft carriers correspond to the historical reality? Right now they just about match the wingspan of aircraft. The Akagi is a good historical example.

«

Aircraft carrier dimensions in the game are correct for the condition depicted (year of modernization). I checked the Akagi’s dimensions, and they are correct: 250m long and 31m wide.

Are you planning on adding victory marks for German pilots and tankers? Right now, there are no aviation bars (fixed to the tails of the aircraft) or tank rings (on gun barrels).

«

Victory marks are already present in the form of iron crosses, stars, etc. They are clear and versatile in terms of placement, so we have no plans to add barrel rings or “bars” to the game.

Datamining tutorial:

  Hide contents

Datamining 101

Tools required: WT CDK, Data comparison tool (for example WinMerge)

First step is to download the devClient. Start the launcher and let it download the latest changes. You should now have two WT folders. WarThunder and WarThunderDev. Most of the time they should be identical, but when the devClient receives an update things get interesting.

Start you standard WT launcher and check the version in the top right corner, don't forget to check "Use 'Work-in-Progress' client". If the devClient has a higher version number it means there are differences between the files in the WarThunder and the WarThunderDev folders.

The easiest way to find changes is to compare the date when the files were last modified, but you will have to skim through all folders and sub folders manually. A data comparison tool, like WinMerge, can to that for you. It will compare all the files in two folders and notify you of differences. this method provides the most success if you make a copy of your WarThunderDev folder before each update to see what's changed.

To take a deeper look into the contents of the devClient download the latest War Thunder CDK and install it into the same location as your devClient.

The asset viewer allows you to take a look at all models that can be used by the game. Not only vehicles, but ammunition and guns to.

However, some vehicles have been in the file for quite some time, or have been removed from the game so it's always better to check with the community if the thing you found is really new and not some old event plane.

Keep in mind that this is just a basic guide on how to get information from the game files. To dig deeper you require special tools and some programming experience.

Chieftain Mk. 5 denied? Seriously?? Brits are unplayable at 8.0 with only Chieftain and Cent10.

Agree, britain deserve a second decent top tier MBT, but mayble you'll get the Vickers MBT instead. Annyways, it's a pretty urging situation for UK

Thought I might bring this up again:

CONFIRMED:
  • Ammo racks will show empty space when ammo gets used(because sometimes shots to ammo racks that appear full don't explode)
  • MASSIVE BR CHANGES NEXT WEEK(wait news in next few days)
  • HE shell damage changes happened because there were times it took more shots than to kill a tank
  • T32 will have BR changes
  • Jumbo - BR changes and possible DM changes
  • Italian tree confirmed
  • Japan - more CAS planes in next patches, working on rocket bombs

Thinkin' about it......:vanga:;)

  • Looking to improve post pen damage for large caliber guns (especially for slow reloading)
  • IS-7 still maybe
  • Spawn killing - moving spawn location not very likely as it requires map changes. They have some other ideas that they are working on but would not elaborate on that
  • BT-42, BT-7A - interesting tanks that they might consider introducing
  • They have planed vehicle list for 1 year ahead
  • BMP, BMD - very probable
  • Navy - soon new test with ships that have powerful guns
  • Smoke - thinking how to introduce them (probably as smoke grenades shot from main gun)
  • ERA - will introduce only if all nations gets it

Nope! (for now):

  • Chinese tank tree - no comments, currently only for china server, maybe few interesting tanks will be implemented on warthunder servers
  • MIG-21 & F-100 nope
  • No air-air rockets because whoever gets on tail first wins
  • T-64 still possible but not now
  • World war - no real information, wait for new some time
  •

.

"IS-7 as a linear or a premium tank is not planned. Perhaps as a promo."

Actually kinda surprised that they are considering for it to be a premium vehicle or tournament prize given similarly OP options like Object 770, 277, and 278:dntknw:

Plus these three: Object 266, 752, and 777

Are you entirely sure the Mk 5 was denied? This was said in an October Q&A last year

Q: Regarding the top tier British medium tank. Are there any plans to introduce the Chieftain Mk 5 Shir, an Iranian modification of the Chieftain, which differs with better mine protection, the presence of more modern Fire Control System, new APFSDS rounds (already available on the T-62, but we would like to see these shells on the Chieftain as well) and an uprated 850 hp engine. The current Mk 3 is sorely lacking mobility in RB battles.

A: The Iranian Mk 5 Shir modification is not currently being considered, but there other variants of the British Chieftain. An earlier or later model  are possible.

Indeed it's a bit difficult to day that it's been denied it would be best if it was noted as being under consideration.

That and the British tree needs another 8.0 MBT.....

No , I'm not sure. There'S always the possibility that something was misunderstood or mistranslated.

The only things that I'm sure of are the data finds.

Which Q&A though? The most recent one that mentions the Chieftain is the one I brought up, and it only denies the FV4030/2 Shir 1. All other Chieftains are stated as possible.
