Countermeasures against forbidden modifications.

Best answer

There is no need to record and post replays with gameplay of players you suspect for using 3rd party apps. We will appreciate if you report them via server replay functionality on our main website.

What left? Ability to know where enemy is.

Ok, I interpret that as that the major cheat would be an ability to detect enemies beyond the normal visibility range of a fully upgraded crew, and I can't exclude that such an ability would include to also get the leading aim-point before the non-cheating player in AB.

I would say that it is quite difficult to form well founded suspicions regarding this kind of cheats in air battles, even using the replay services, or?

Some of the names seem to be duplicated, such as "Daddypapafather" and "imsoosorry", is this a mistake?

I'd like to know too, but my guess would be that they have been reported more than once. So if you see them twice in the list it's because they were reported twice.

I hope, flying straight to the dot without the marker on the horizon (who actually is some wise guy, trying to sneak climb his bomber to stratosphere) would not be counted as cheating, and also i hope that Dell Ultrasharp display I use and my own eyes is not in the "forbidden modifications" list :D

As we stated above, there is no option to have supernatural power, speed or anything like that. What left? Ability to know where enemy is.

One question about this ( speaking for AB if that matters )  :

Sometimes blind shots end up in unexpected kills:  4-5 days ago in map Poland i was trying to remove a tree that was in my sights so i could have a clearer view on an street, no enemies were present around for me, took a few shots at the tree and after 2-3 shots i was noticed of a kill on something i never even seen in my sights, nor even been noticed of the markers in AB like they can often display behind buildings, nor getting any info in the minimap or reports by the other players often allowing you to anticipate enemies movements and locations.

In some other maps using a thing like the type-60 double gun and sitting in a spawn point to reload the poor 10 ammos load, and constantly spamming a small narrowed area where enemies usually pass or sometimes accumulate there depending who dominates the others capture points, using this thing as a blind rocket launcher kinda but sometimes same stuff done using a normal gun on a tank while pinned out somewhere with no much choices to do something else than spam the guns on such areas, getting lucky only once in a while with a kill on something you could not even see or getting hits doing more or less damages..

This does happen rarely and depend on the vehicles/ maps used and configurations of the matches outcome but it happens regularly that i do this and sometimes having a nice surprise with a kill credited, question is could too many of those lucky kills get you flagged ?

Not that i am really afraid of being too lucky and making many of those unexpected kills with my usual luck but curious about this now, should i restrict myself of doing blind shooting in some maps where you know there is a good chance to at least hit something blindly ?

Thanks

I will post it again :)

The specific patterns that we use are based on the difference in behaviour between normal players (using real visibility from the client) and a player who also has server-side information on his monitor (this information contains more data). We have implemented this algorithm in a very conservative way in order to avoid false positives. Suspicious activity is also checked by our employees after it has been  detected by the program.

Thanks, like i said not much lucky so not really worried about being flagged for lucky blind shots anyways, the conservative thing with double check by real human is a good thing.

Thank you.

So I have some basic yes&no questions about this, which are hopefully not a problem to ask.

1) Logitech Gaming Panel is a whitelisted 3rd part app, I may hope?

I'm asking that as the program has a bad habit of throwing hooks into other active applications and simply masking the path of your executable isn't going to fool Logitech Gaming Panel in adminmode (as it uses PID then).

2) I don't use overwolf because I have 2 monitors but that app is also doing some overlaying, which could be seen as cheats in many other games I've seen.

3) a. Why is there no application available to help us give more debug info / patterns / personal feedback?

b. How about an option in game-options to persistently request to save or delete the current replay post-battle? This would help a lot of players to make less mistakes with that. (I know wrong location to post suggestions, but it's more or less a question whether it's a good feature to even suggest)

1&2) Check EULA. We cannot answer on questions "is XXXXX legal?" due to fact that there is like 12432546476457 applications ;) Check EULA, if application is not breaking it - it's ok.

3a) There is forum

3b) You cannot save replay to be able to use them forever. After some game updates old replay become obsolete and there is no way to change it. You can store old game files and use them to launch old replay.

As long as you will not use your ultrasharp display to cut yourself playing WT, it's ok ;)

my plane got dragged in a very improbable way straight into the front of the enemy plane making it move to the side in less than 0.5 secs moving like 50 or 70 mts... someone or a moderator ( since someone need to approve this comment) how do i report this suspicious external program or modification? and sorry the bother

That sounds a lot like rubber-banding caused by packet-loss between you and the server. You'll have seemed to be flying normally to all the other players (hence why they could shoot you easily) but when your computer caught-up your in-game model will have been 'dragged' to the point that the servers believed you to be at.

I use ReShade on a few other games to improve the image quality to my tastes. Is it save to use it in War Thunder, without the fear of getting banned?

Check EULA. If this application is not breaking it, it's ok.

1. Do you get just the replay of the players making the accusations, or do you get the replay of the player being accused as well? (Get both perspectives?)

2. Are people banned based on replays alone or do you use code to detect other illegal code? (Anti cheat system running in the background of the game?)

3. How do you deal with false positives?

4. And why isn't false positives explained in the main article/post?

Lastly, we need a FAQ just for this topic.

Again, dealing with cheaters is great and I sure as hell don't want you to stop, but based on my experience in the game and my experience with software in the real world... I do have to ask.

Thanks

Please re-read main article and linked posts/articles. Everything is explained there. I am pretty sure you understand that we will not reveal EVERYTHING step by step.

Just so I know is Boris's sound mod a legitimate/legal add on? I enjoy how much more emersive the battles seem, but don't want to be cheering (and kicked off). :-)

I encountered a player on the list...he was my opponent. Obviously my team lost that battle. I don't know he was a cheater... They are rule breakers. They destroyed our game experience. So GJ gaijin and keep going!

As I appreciate the work that's being done against those cheaters I want to give a big thumbs up to Gaijin.

On the other hand the amount of players that are aware of your location in Realistic, without a direct line of sight, seems to be growing.

Today some level 94 could see what was on the other side of a small hill on Karelia and managed to shoot two players through that hill.  And earlier I found myself on Kursk well below the crest of a hill with some M16 MGMC on the other side at a fair distance of more than 500 meters shooting overhead my position and clearly following my movements while he was clearly unable to see me.

It seems there is some kind of cheat marking opponents all the time.

Reported the one I was killed by, but the M16 I couldn't even see myself...

normal..  "shame playing". I mean ....there are some teams builded up on cheats.....is that any other way that - for example - a team can't be damaged at all (no one single death) and have 85kills with only 3 players? Or people catch fire 4 time in a row and the plane restored himself in the air? Or a jet can climb up and get away from you several kms when both of you are climbing and only him isn't loosing speed? When I was telling this horrible behaviour more than one year ago several people insulted me, telling me I was a liar and so on.... I was banned too from reporting because I used the bot menu too many times.... now....
