my plane got dragged in a very improbable way straight into the front of the enemy plane making it move to the side in less than 0.5 secs moving like 50 or 70 mts... someone or a moderator ( since someone need to approve this comment) how do i report this suspicious external program or modification? and sorry the bother

If I can just make this clear, it is important to understand - such modifications are simply not possible, it is NOT POSSIBLE to boost your server side footprint (speed, hitting power, defensive power etc), what is possible is that client side info regarding position of opponent etc can be enhanced illegally with third party apps, usually unsuccesfully.

Regardless, if you suspect attempted cheats you should refer to our online reporting system here - http://warthunder.com/en/tournament/replay/  and use the available reporting system to log the exact game and user it concerns. Please do not spam this functionality with standard frustration and accusations as it will only complicate our current successes and intervention. Be sure it is a legitimate complaint as what is perceived as a cheat will in most cases in standard play siimply be a lucky shot or a situationally aware quaility player.

Thank you Stona.

Greetings Warriors,

It is clear that there is a passion of both players and staff in the development of a robust cheat detection method over many years. Gathering and discussing the methods and public knowledge of these same cheat mechanisms over that period. I thought it was worthy to put together a little summary of our combined actions during the recent months. Hopefully this will dispel any rumours, assumptions and fears that some of you may have.

There are many legitimate, honourable players (that's you) in our game - the good guys, who only want to play the game to spend time with friends, have fun, appreciate or learn all about our many many vehicles history and most of all, to participate in friendly competition. All our work up till now and in the future has been a passionate effort to ensure that you can continue to appreciate and experience the finer points of all I have mentioned above.

We have never made a big thing of it as you know, some agree with us, some do not, however, as War Thunder is in our hands we had to make a decision on what would create less stress for you the players, so we opted for a low key approach where we discouraged and continue to discourage highlighting and discussion of these very same cheats knowing that many would fear our game was riddled with them (some still believe this) - It simply isn't true, our game, I can proudly say, still has less players attempting to use exploits or cheats than any other online multiplayer game I personally know of. The other issue being that it would give publicity to those very same people we don't want and tempt some to try the cheats. The point being, all throughout our development of the game, we have robustly battled with those that seem to gain some strange kind of satisfaction in earning an anonymous placing in a game by foul means. These guys are losers, no question.

But in all honesty, there are bad guys (cheaters, yes), that do everything in their power to try to spoil your experience. Of course, it is no easy task to protect the good guys from the bad and no doubt this struggle with cheaters (Illegal modifications) will not lessen -  Over the last year we have held regular account locks of cheaters and provided our players with updates on our actions. Recently, at the end of last year we introduced a very different and effective detection system and destroyed almost all of the cheaters in the game in one massive hit and we thank you very much for your participation in the replay reporting system, as you guys helped to prove and develop it!

Before the system was introduced, we had slightly different mechanics, we determined these players, but they did not get banned immediately. This was deliberate as it allowed us to greatly complicate the life of the cheat authors - as they could not easily determine when and how we had managed to counter their modifications.

But there was a trade off, all during this time of perceived inaction against those that used these mods we had to do something to interfere with the bad guys disrupting your gameplay. So it was necessary to introduce a solution that was actually very simple - a special mechanic that only affected those players that had been proven to use these illegal modifications, those that were banned after around two weeks. This mechanic was created to ensure that the good guys minimally suffered from any actions of the bad guys who in fact, did suffer the greatest.

Anton Yudintsev - Gaijin CEO introduced the action of this system elsewhere, although at the time of its operation we could not tell you about it obviously, nor did we want to introduce another perceived issue with those that cannot simply admit that sometimes they play bad and sometimes they play good. This was an uncomfortable contradiction for us as we have always developed War Thunder openly and honestly so we have no secrets from you. It was implemented via the changing of shell parameters in runtime when 100% proven cheater fired, not every bullet and not every battle, it was an additional penalty. In detail - it increased ricochets or dispersion for them. This was not a noticeable difference, it kept the parameters of firing in range of what is reasonable and could happen in reality. This mechanic fulfilled its task to some degree but was considered unsuccessful as the effect still appeared normal (just more unlucky) and the cheater was banned within a reasonable time. This was done to protect honourable players as an experiment for the few confirmed cheaters and was removed completely  in 1.63. But of course, lovers of conspiracy theories will continue to enjoy the information above and inflate it to claim that it is everywhere.

The conclusion is yours, my friends. :)

Last sunday I was accused of cheating as well.

I was on Advance to the Rhine and had my Wirbelwind in great cover with an excellent view of the sky and my surroundings. I saw the dust and smoke of muzzle fire and not long after that a Sherman passed directly in front of me. I got him right in the flank and made short work of him.

Not long after that a plane came in my direction and circled over my location as if he was looking for something, I took my time to aim and a short burst made an end to the pilots ambitions as wel, it was the same guy, not a while later I heard, and I have an excellent home cinema, 7.1 and professionally calibrated as well, so I heard a vehicle sneaking around the stacks of rubble surrounding my position, I quickly changed ammo and turned my turret towards the sound, and there he (same guy) came around the corner to be greeted by four blazing barrels in his light tank.

After that he came on the chat accusing me of using a cheat, remember I'm on PS4, or I was hacking, whatever. Had a great laugh.

But I heard his vehicle, so I knew which side to turn to before he was out of cover. That could have happened in your case as well.

Yeah, I know, couple of times I wasn't sure what was it, and server replay proved (most of the times), that the guy was actually aware of what's happening around him. One time it was strange, Panther was hiding in one of the streets of Normandy town. The moment I moved to round him (he has absolutely no sight on me, I was behind few buildings), he suddenly turned around 180 degrees, approached the street corner and waited for me. It totally looked like wallhack, but I thought "naaah, there is no wallhack in WT, probably lucky".

But sometimes everything You've described didn't happened, I was (for example) 500 m away from the tank, he was involved in a fight, and I just moved a bit, exposed just top of my turret and he started to turn around to face me. I played a few thousand battles, I know how aware and careful the players can be, but sometimes it just looks weird.

I'm not saying it was cheat, or something, but I'm usually winning this clash anyway, and then forgot to check the situation.

Anton when implementing this system, and I love it.

Thanks for the transparency Scarper, really appreciated! It's good to see that Gaijin's stance against cheaters has been this fierce.

its great to see Gaijin do such a great job to ban all of those players who keep using mods or other illegal stuff

but let me say something !  its damn sure ,thats gonna kill all the fun :) this game not need any sort of mods, because when the game is clean ,fair equal balance of all players

you just need your own skills its best way to measure strength in the battlefield

they deserve to get ban forever who get caught for cheating

@Scarper That's pretty impressive that we have one of the lowest attempted cheating counts in the gaming community from what you've seen. That's all thanks to the wonderful dev team, and the community for reporting the alleged cheaters! :D

If the cheaters get banned...will they be able to create a new account?

They can create a new account, but according to the Terms of Use posted on warthunder.com, they are not allowed to if they have been banned.

This is great. Well done.

As a PS4 player i like to see stuff like this and it seems like "clean" players on all platform like it.

You are the WADA of WT... WTADA  (War Thunder Anti Doping Agency)

Hi everyone,

I would like to draw the attention of the moderators and the game community to something, Sound mods for war thunder is illegal -yet- and as far as I know most of the people who use it are under the impression that it is a legal modification, Snice there is NO warning about it, to top it off there is a sound mod thread on the forums and a post on " War Thunder Live" and there is no notification from the Author nor the Moderators for the Users about it, e.g.

USE THIS MOD AT YOUR OWN RISK, SOUND MODIFICATIONS ARE STILL COUNTED AS AN ILLEGAL MODIFICATION"

I almost made a mistake buy modifying my sound files, I couldn't find a topic about that Subject. and you could easily oversee that in the rules, snice there is a Sound MOD posted on WT Live and there is a thread in the forum about it, I thought it was allowed, but if it wasn't for one of the moderators, he pointed out that sound Modifications are not legalized yet and usage of any thing to modify the game base files are not allowed and people may get banned for it.

Thanks for reading this.

Snip

You're free to use sound mods, as long as you don't create any purely to gain an advantage over others. Gaijin's sounddesigner even added support for soundmods recently, so it'd be kinda stupid if they were illegal.

I had a talking in game a couple of days ago with one of the moderators - in the 4th naval test chat room- and I asked him is sound mods legal and he said no, and it could get you banned

If you are using sound mod that is not giving you any advantage etc. it's ok.

Boris sound mod does give an advantage however, It's distinct gun and engine sounds allow players to hear tanks from further ranges, and the sounds aren't "obscured by distance" as they are in vanilla war thunder, so It overall makes it easier to find people by sound, or hear their engines coming.

Stona (Posted )

It doesn't give any advantage.

Until further notice, it's completely legal to use sound mods that are seen by Gaijin as not giving advantages.

I use Boris's myself and personally I hardly see enough of a difference to make it an advantage...

When I play War Thunder I have been using NEW VIEW that is an outer tool for helping view controls by mouse , HAT switch on joysticks or the other device.

NEW VIEW was developed for il-2 1946 FB originally and has been used widely in other simulators.

We can also see the old topic , click below ( I cannot read Russian tho )

https://forum.warthunder.ru/index.php?/topic/26853-настройка-newview-под-warthunder-улучшенный-обзор-с-хатки/

Simple question ;

Do you Gaijin take it as cheating to use NEW VIEW in War Thunder?

Thank you for watching out for the community! Always annoys me when people say "but there are no cheats for war thunder"...any and every game can be "hacked" to implement an advantage.

When is this server side replay feature coming to sim air enduring confrontation mode?

The local replays for EC Air are dysfunctional. They always miss the last 30% of a full session.

Anything bad that happens during this dead time cannot be documented.  Bugs that

occur late in the match cannot be properly documented either for the same reason.
